If I could put no stars I would. My vehicle was there for over six weeks. Had my transmission rebuilt twice and they had to install a new transfer case after they broke it between the two transmission rebuilds. Somehow managed to strip threads on the original turbo and the new turbo leaving me with an exhaust leak that " was there when we received the truck". Only for me to finally get the truck back and not go into park without rolling feet. As they claim 8 to 10 inches of roll before parking engaging is normal. (Still with an exhaust leak) Only then for me to take my truck to Charlevoix for a new transmission like I should have received the first time. Staff is very friendly. Technicians have no clue what they are doing. Now going on week number 11 without a vehicle caused by their technicians lack of intelligence. They did more damage than good. read more

I was in town on vacation and had an issue with a broken backseat passenger side window on my 2021 explorer. It rolled all of the way down but would not close. This was an urgent matter due to weather and possibly of theft. I spoke with Michele in the service department and she was able to schedule a mobile repair with Bryan. My review for Fox Grand Traverse Ford is for the service area, in particular the Fast Lane Oil Change. I had my 2017 Ford Expedition in at the Fast Lane oil change last week. When they change your oil they check a number of other things such as your tires, tire pressure, windshield washer fluid and your battery. Then they give you a paper report on the condition of these items. They said my battery was in excellent shape. Less than a week later I could not start my truck, no juice in the battery. So I lifted the hood and found that the positive terminal on the battery was severely corroded (see picture). The corrosion caused the positive terminal to be loose and therefore a poor connection. Pretty obvious that the tech never even looked at my battery. I have had my Ford cars and truck serviced at the Fast Lane oil change numerous times over the past 20 years. I can no longer trust them. Took the truck in for a third time for issues with the screen freezing and having to be reset multiple times a day. The phone charging pad was getting my phone almost too hot to touch. I spent about 30 minutes with the tech when I made this third appointment, explaining everything still wrong, in detail. We dropped our truck off for the service appointment and received a message not three hours later telling us there was nothing wrong and that phones are supposed to get warm when charging. When we picked up the truck it was as if no one even started the vehicle. We left an item on the phone charger pad and it was in the exact same position when we picked the truck up. The service tech that messaged us and said it was ready, told us that we didn't write the issues on the key envelope, so nothing was done. So we picked the truck up, without it being repaired, for a third time. I was at my wits end so I posted on a local FB group asking if anyone had a similar issue and if they ever got it resolved. Within 30 minutes the manager has messaged my husband and offered to pick the truck up to get it looked at. We dropped it back off and then it was finally fixed. Steve, the manager was great and once he got involved, the issue got resolved. It's frustrating that it took this much back and forth for this issue to get resolved. We have had issues in the past with the service center and it would be nice if perhaps they did something to properly train these techs or at least be honest with us if they can't fix something. read more

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. If I could give 0 stars I would. DO NOT BUY FROM HERE. I recently purchased a 2022 f150 for over $40k. I came from out of state and was told that it had never been smoked in. Well once I got back to my warmer climate it immediately wreaked of cigarette smoke. Turns out they detailed it and covered up the smell, but the heat brought it back! Now the dealer refuses to resolve the problem or take the truck back. They even admitted that they have lots of these smoker trucks that they detail and "temporarily" get the smell out of. The dealer also reported false information to carfax, claiming that they did service when they didn't! Stay away! read more

NIGHTMEAR!! Starting with the truck being listed at 46000 miles only to drive two hours to see it had 118000 to the 5 MONTHS later, where the real fun began. I know we should have RAN away but the price was several thousand less than before. They dropped the price, so I asked for it to be taken to another dealer close to my home, and that took around 5 to 6 weeks. It got there and I went over to look again, and salesman said they would fix the check engine light, due to its recent repairs they claimed it needed reset, and price raised again. The dealer agreed to take it to a Dodge dealership where at this time it was discovered the machinic in Travers city stripped the bolts on the top of the motor, so we had to wait for Tracers City dealer to approve the repairs. Well to show how little they cared it was TWO weeks later for them to ok repairs, and refuse to fix the truck at that location, and without our permission they moved it back to the Fox Ford in Travers City. Not to worry they called after it was arriving and said that if we wanted it fixed it would be done there at the location that they wanted. Not to worry they would have it looked at within a week, so ok were on week three of owning the truck without driving it, and low and behold they lied again. We called and set an appointment to take off work and drive back up to where we ask not to have to deal with again because now, we are at FIVE weeks. YUP not to worry because the manager said it was only one apparently some communication would help, and yes, we had all the paperwork showing dated and times. I even stopped at the other dealer and got a copy of the report showing the motor was junk when they had possession. Funny thing it was denied that fox ford had that then later admitted. Hummm ok nothing has been fixed and now they are claiming that it is being paid through our warranty!! Get this because they drove it with a bad motor to Travers City!! CAN YOU SAY FRAUD!!! We spoke to a police officer, and it was said sure looks like fraud or theft because if our warranty was fixing it the truck should never have left the dealer that we picked for repairs. When talking to the manager he claimed it was not broken when they took it to be fixed. I ask why would someone spend $42000 on a truck and not take it home? Or why would the dealer agree to fix it if it was not broken? After going out of our way and taking days off work and traveling back and forth from the dealer to dealer for 5 weeks we gave up buying the truck and got our money back. They made it very clear that they had no intention of fixing it but said they would over and over and stated several times they did not want to pay for it, but no one could answer how it could possibly be covered under our warranty. Honestly the worst experience I have ever had anywhere, and yes lesson learned NEVER AGAIN! There is no concern for the costumer whatsoever. read more

The worst car repair shop I have ever encountered. Had the hardest time getting warranty work done on our Ford Flex. Communication was awful. Told them Only to do the warranty work which should of had a $100 deductible. Got to the shop and they tried to charge us just over $500. When we questioned the $500 it suddenly was only $176. Questioned the $176 and was told they fixed the broken wiper that now wasn't under warranty. We didn't authorize it so why was it done??? I walked into this place just to see about getting a new car. The deal was pretty good - so I ended up walking out of there with a new car. I really liked my sales guy, Chris Payne. He wasn't pushy, knew how to work all the electronics, and was pretty good at knowing which vehicles were best for leasing. Really one of my favorite sales people I have run across (and I've met a LOT of them - we are a car family, after all) in a long, long time. The only issue is that it really did take quite a long time to get all the paperwork done. I guess if I had been a little more prepared, and gave them a little more "warning", then it would have been quicker. Overall great experience, and when it comes time to get another new car, I'll definitely be heading back to Fox - especially to Chris. Thanks to him and his team for making it happen. read more

They are giving a retired Ford employee the worst experience ever. They are blaming issues on him and we are sick of getting the run around. I had it repaired at a local garage for $186 for simply replacing a bad solenoid in the 4WD vacuum system. They also told me my front and rear brakes need to be replaced as they were at 4mm. Local garage showed me the brake pad gauge at 6mm. Enough said of another rip off OEM dealer. read more

From test driving my vehicle to getting a repair in the service department, I am beyond impressed with their customer service and knowledge. There was a problem with the battery when I test drove my the car. Not only did they give me a brand new battery, but fixed a cable that was corroded- that same day! If they weren't going to be able to fix it, they had offered to lend me a rental car until they could have it taken care of. I had to take my Ford Escape in for a recall. I made an appointment a month ago. My appointment was at 8:30 and I did not get my car back until 12:30. I was not told a head of time that it would take that long. After all that I received a call that my car was ready. I was sitting and waiting for 4 hours and they couldn't even come and tell me why it took so long. When it was done the lady at the front desk said that next time I could use their shuttle service. Excellent Service! I had my vehicle into the service center to get some recall work done. I had recently purchased this vehicle from Fox Grand Traverse at the very end of December. While my vehicle was at the service center the technician found that I had a ball joint ready to separate, which would have created a dangerous situation for me and my small children while driving. Steve called me to let me know what the technician had found. He also told me that he noticed that I had recently purchased this vehicle from them and that this particular part had been replaced prior to my purchase. As a result, he wanted to see if Ford would cover the cost of this repair. He made no promises, but said he'd try. Well, Steve came through and the repair was covered! They easily could have told me that it needed to be done and asked me to pay for it, but they didn't. They went the extra mile to make sure my kids stay safe and that means the world to me! I waited 2 hours for them to tell me what I already knew was the problem with my car, there was nothing they could do and charged me $44. I got back to my car and found their plastic seat cover still on the seat and that they removed a car reader from my vehicle and put it in the center console. This annoyed me but wasn't a biggy. What really upset me was that i drive 8 miles before pulling over to see that they hadn't even latched my hood! Will certainly be taking my service elsewhere in the future. read more

Save yourself a headache and do not deal with Fox Motors in Traverse City. We recently purchased a truck from them that had faulty mirrors, and live wires touching metal, we were told that they mirrors would be taken care of and not to worry, and apt was set up and we thought all was good. granted we spent over $20,000 for this truck, so we expected a certain amount of things to work properly. We took the truck to their shop and went on with our day. Since then we have been dicked around for 2 months now. The day we dropped it off they did NOTHING to the vehicle. We had to get a lawyer to even get the mirrors fixed that was promised to us in writing. This has been a giant headache and they have yet to make this right. Keep saying the parts aren't here, the parts aren't here. My husband is a master mechanic and called to another Ford dealership, they could get the parts that day. Fox motors have been a complete joke and a headache to deal with. Not to mention people that do not stick to their word. If you are trying to purchase anything used, I would RUN from Fox Motors, I had heard good things about them, but after this, we will never be back. Not to mention earlier that day we told them we wanted to come in and look at this certain truck, and we screenshotted the truck and the price, we come in 8 hours later, and they had jacked the truck price up by $2,000, good thing we had the screenshot to prove it. However, looking for recommendations for a GOOD car dealership, that keeps to their word, as I am on the lookout for an SUV. So any tips would be appreciated. read more

Extremely disappointed in my overall experience at Fox Grand Traverse. It took 7 business days to diagnose and get my warranty work approved and another 3 days to do the work. The communication was lackluster at best and it's clear the service team is overwhelmed. They are booking out 6 weeks so hopefully nothing breaks on my vehicle anytime soon. What is even more frustrating if that I reached out to leadership (Service Manager and GM) as I wasn't getting any info from my advisor on what I would be responsible for so they could start the work. I was borrowing a vehicle and needed to make arrangements. I never received a response back after reaching out several times. I know I will strongly consider where I buy my next Ford from in the future and caution everyone who reads this to do the same. They have "values" listed on there website but that's all they are is words. They definitely do not display or demonstrate them in any way. The young mechanic did a great job but every other aspect of my experience was disappointing and frustrating to say the least. read more

The service department at Fox motors is outstanding! I left work one afternoon and it we had gotten about 4 inches of heavy wet snow, it was dark and there was a mix of snow and sleet. I turned on my wipers and my drivers side windshield wiper broke off. I carefully drove to Fox motors using the broken wiper blade and my hand to clear off the windshield enough to drive. I pulled into the garage and was immediately met by a service person; while he walked me over to get a new wiper and arm - the other guys were wiping the heavy snow off my truck and checking the other wiper. They put the new wiper blade on for me -- all this right around 5pm when they were getting ready to close. I was so appreciative and the service guys went above and beyond. read more

My boyfriend and I recently purchased a used Jeep Wrangler from Fox and our overall experience has been incredibly disappointing. Only 2 days after driving our Jeep off the lot we found multiple issues with it, the biggest issue being that occasionally the Jeep wouldn't start. We had to jump start it multiple times and brought it in for service right away. We were given a rental and have been trying to keep updated on the progress the Jeep has made, we've been told a wide variety of possibilities without any sort of outcome. It has now been in the service center for over a week, the only answer we have gotten is "we can't figure it out" I've driven the rental more than I've been able to drive my own Jeep, we're still waiting for a solid answer and at this point if we could, we would return the vehicle and go to a different dealership. This entire ordeal has been a massive headache for the both of us, and days after the excitement of purchasing the vehicle we have wanted for years this is what happened. Update: we picked up our Jeep with an inconclusive diagnosis, we asked that while they had our vehicle for a full week they fix the back windshield sprayer, I went to used it and it sprayed windshield washer fluid straight into the truck. Just when I thought they couldn't have done any worse. * I need to add that the customer service we have received has been fantastic, the employees we have directly dealt with have been nothing but kind. However the issues with the Jeep just keep coming, if you do buy from Fox buy new. I don't know what kind of process their used vehicles go through before being sold but it's not extensive. read more

Usually I always get my car serviced at Ford, i.e. tire change or oil change. I'm a loyal customer but was very disappointed with my last oil change. They say they have something like a "17 point car inspection" and they told me after my oil change that my air filter looked okay but maybe it would need changed at my next visit. When I got home, I was curious about my air filter since my car has had some recent issues, and it was obvious that they either hadn't checked it, or couldn't care less about it's condition or the way they put it back. When I took my air filter out, its hard surface was very bent up and the filter portion was crumpled, not to mention dirty. Not only that, but it was evident that a squirrel had spent some time in my air filter compartment since it had about 6 half eaten acorns in it. Though it wasn't a big deal for me to take care of, I felt like the service men saw a girl in the car and did the bare minimum. I recently purchased a car from Fox Grand Traverse. I was terribly disappointed with the service I received. When I purchased the car I scheduled an appointment to sign paperwork. I waited at least a half hour before I finally met with the gal to complete it. Then when I was ready to take the car my salesman informed me that there was only one key because they "ran out of keys"?! and the door code was not set up for me to program. He told me to bring it in anytime and they could take care of this for me. So I agreed to bring the car back in for the extra key and the door to be programed. After I got the car home I also noticed that the seal around the windshield was lifting. After several emails back and forth with my salesman I finally was able to pinpoint a time and day that I could take it in. I showed up and my salesman was busy with someone else. He told me it would take about 45 minutes to program the door, make a new key and have someone look at the seal. He then asked me to come back another time. After going back and forth again about when I could bring the car back my salesman passed my name off to someone in the service department who contacted me. When the service department called me he informed me that I could bring the car in anytime. I told him I had tried to do that several times with no luck. He informed me that it would only take about 20 minute to make a key and program the door. I also mentioned that I wanted the seal to be checked on the windshield. He told me that this would be an easy fix and it happened often. He said I should try to come in between 9:30-10:00 because after that "it gets busy" so I asked if I could just go ahead and schedule it for the next day at 9:30. He agreed that would work. I showed up the next day with my car and no one knew anything about it!!! No appointment had been scheduled! I ended up dropping my car off and had to get a ride back to work. The service guy text me within an hour that the key was made and he would update me when the car was finished. I finally text him at 4:15 to see when my car would be done. He text me back and said it was ready. When I arrived he explained to me how to program the door code so I asked if he could give me a manual so I knew how to do it. Instead he walked me out to the car and helped me program it. I still have no manual and they never looked at the windshield seal! I don't think I will ever buy another car here, not because I don't love my Ford Escape but because if this is the kind of customer service I get when buying the car what kind of customer service will I get if I actually need repairs! All of these things should have been taken care of before I even came in to sign the paperwork! read more

It was a smooth purchasing process and I didn't feel taken advantage of. Their service department has always been friendly and helpful and they don't try to push extras on me like most others. I recently took the vehicle in for a general inspection before a road trip and everything from the scheduling to the appointment itself was professional and helpful. They even took the time to correct a small dent in one of my wheels during the inspection. I wasn't charged for it and although it seems like a minor detail, the fact that they even noticed it and took the time to fix it was nice. My wife bought a used Escape from Fox motors and has been pleased with the vehicle but had not had to deal with Fox until last week. Took the car in with two problems: a non-working rear hatch window and the "engine" light which has been on for a half year at least. They fixed the rear window for about $200 which is probably a reasonable price. (No labor hrs are provided so I assume they use flat-rate pricing). They replaced a module for the engine light and the labor was $220. I find that exorbitant but the real problem was that the engine light was still on when she got the car back! There also was no heat in the car and the remote key wouldn't work! She took the car back and they worked on it for another 45 minutes and fixed everything but the engine light. "Bring it back when you have less than a half tank and we'll calibrate it." Well, the tank was only a quarter full at the time, why didn't they fix it? All in all, a bad day and most likely a waste of money. My wife doesn't want to drive an hour to the dealer and then spend hours while they diddle around to get things fixed that should have been fixed in the first place. Moreover, I was planning on buying a used car there as well because they usually have a nice selection... but if I do, I will certainly find another place to get it serviced!! read more
