This spring we were pleasantly pleased to find a table of perennial, summer blooming plants. We had trouble just picking out a dozen there were so many beautiful choices. Twice a week they have bread delivered and the sour dough is the best I've ever had. It does tend to sell out quickly though. There is freezer with meats. My husband always picks up chicken Chesapeake sausage when available. There is an ice cream case and a refrigerator case with yoghurt and other dairy products. My neighbor mentioned she was looking for raw milk to make cheese and we think they carry it along with fresh eggs. We always go to pick up bread and sausage and end up with two grocery bags full of irresistible items.

Beautiful farmland- idyllic setting in farm outbuildings. We could see some lambs in an adjacent barn and it appeared there were numerous farm animals about, my thought ran to upcoming spring and summer and how much the children would enjoy this place. The store is small and a bit cramped, but we were hit with wonderful aromas on entering- homemade herbal soaps, freshly baked cookies, pies, cobblers and pasta. A refrigerator held a variety of local cheeses, fresh eggs, farm fresh milk and cream, and a freezer held the good stuff- bacon, farm-raised beef, hot dogs, sausages, and jerky. Oh how I love jerky. Children in the market were negotiating for different flavors of frozen custard that looked great. The lovely lady at the counter explained that the owner sends farm-raised meats to the butcher, and that a family pack type order could be placed. The jerky must have been processed by a place in PA per the label- it was fabulous. Thin and dry and perfectly seasoned, I at least got it home and defrosted before I devoured it. I also picked up some summmer sausage- have not tried it yet, but the smell is tantalizing and I'm looking forward to slicing some with some of the horseradish cheddar, some crackers and something to drizzle the honey over- yes, local honey. Wow. I may just eat it out of the jar, it is that good. Not much local produce- there is none yet, but I am looking forward to stopping back by later in the season, with the children- and the camera!.

It was our first time at England Acres and it is absolutely beautiful farmland! We met Judy and Hannah. Hannah took us over to the barn and picked up one of the lamb and let my daughter hold him. My daughter was so excited! We headed back inside and picked up eggs, bacon, lamb, steaks, and chicken. Nothing beats grass farm fresh food that comes from a place that is right down the street and where the animals have been very well taken care of. Don't get me wrong, it's pricey, but it's worth every penny to support a local farm, for the flavor of the food, and for your health!

They also have multiple fridges and freezers full of every sort of beef and pork that you could probably name off the top of your head. I've picked up tomatoes there, onions, cucumbers, corn, and the last time I went I got a frozen four park of raw hamburger patties. They also have a wide array of jams, preserves, and pickled goods. Customer service has been efficient. The market itself is not huge at all, but they make ample use of the space. Like I said, outside of the weirdly expensive breads/rolls I think their prices are generally fair. And it's on the way to and from my ceramics class which is super convenient. Bonus: Right outside on the right side of the building is Vittles In The Pines BBQ tent which is ABSOLUTELY delicious. You gotta try their... pretty much anything.

Pleasant Valley is flouting that law, with several employees not wearing masks and a sign telling customers they are optional. Furthermore, when a customer addressed this on social media, one of the owners attacked her for it, and was "entertained" by people who were unsatisfied with her response to not following the law.
