If only I could put no stars We made a reservation yesterday online with Priceline. We thought we were booking with Europcar and then discovered it was a Fox rental. We took the shuttle which is already painful and arrived onsite where we waited online for one hour. At the desk the lady asks for my name and then states "well you are going to have to wait before you can get the car". You made the booking at 10pm so other customers have priority. I said it does not mention that anywhere on the contract so she said this is how it is. Meanwhile another set of people had no reservation and another agent was arranging for a car immediately available for them. Then my husband asked why that was and said it was unacceptable since we were within pick up time on the reservation. So she says well if you are talking over me then I won't be able to help you. I asked for a manager and she says I am the manager. Her name is Trishelle. Then she refused to answer any of my questions and told us she would not give us the car and we were done. She took another client and dismissed me. So did another agent next to her. They were rude and I believe we got discriminated upon. My husband taped the whole thing. I was never rude but she was rude, unprofessional and all that was uncalled for. My reservation was there and paid for. They treated us like dogs. And this woman should not be a manager or work with people. read more

This is a prime example of "you get what you pay for" - TLDR is that Fox was super cheap/barebones, but it got the job done. ***Be prepared to wait AT LEAST 2 hours in total or even longer if they are busy. Even a short line will take FOREVER!! Beware!! Also, the reviews from people saying that Carlos was amazing are fake reviews/bots. I rented a large size SUV through Priceline and felt a bit mislead because it told me it would be one of five different brands. When I looked it up, all of those brands had a location at the Miami airport. The brand I was assigned ended up being Fox, which is offsite from the airport. I decided to try it, since the rental was literally 1/5 of the price on other sites for large size SUVs. Fox also said they had a shuttle. After landing in Miami, I had to walk a super long distance and then take a train to get to the rental car center. Once at the rental car center, I went outside for the Fox shuttle. There are no signs indicating where the Fox shuttle is, so I had to call them to ask (it's shuttle loading zone #2 FYI). I then waited 45 minutes for the shuttle to arrive, meanwhile other off-site car rental shuttles were coming and going multiple times. Honestly, it would have been much faster to just take an Uber/Lyft directly from the terminal, rather than walking so far and waiting for the Fox shuttle. I read so many reviews from people complimenting "Carlos" at Fox. He is the shuttle driver. These reviews must be bots LOL, because Carlos was about as grumpy as could be, and during the shuttle ride he got angry that a driver in front of him wouldn't run a red light since there were no cars coming, and Carlos started blaring on his horn/cursing at the driver in front of him who was preventing Carlos from running the red light. When I got dropped off at the Fox location, there were about 10 people ahead of me in line. The office was a total dump and was not clean. I saw the reviews online from people saying that the line could be really long, but I thought "oh this is a pretty short line, I'll be out of here in no time" - NOPE. Boy was I wrong! It took me over an hour and a half from the time I was dropped off, to the time I was driving out with my rental car, and that was with only 10 people in line and 2 people working at the counter. When it was my turn at the counter, the entire process was relatively quick, so I don't understand why the line was moving so slowly. I did hear a few people in front of me arguing with the staff over policies. Some guy refused to pay the security deposit and kept demanding for a manager. Someone else had their credit card declined, so he stayed at the counter and called his bank (which took at least 15 minutes) and that prevented the line from moving at all. Another woman was rejected because she only had an Apple credit card (heads up - Fox does not accept these and will refuse to budge even if you ask for a manager). When it was finally my turn, I was assisted by someone named Johans. He was just as grumpy as Carlos. I politely told him I didn't need the toll pass because all I was doing was driving around downtown and he then starts arguing with me. I politely told him no thank you, and then he raised his voice and said "I know you already told me you didn't want it, but let me finish!" The car I rented was a 4Runner. It was very dirty and was beat despite only having 17k miles on it. It had clearly been in an accident and been poorly repaired. There were dents all over it, paint bubbles, scratches, etc. I had to sign a waiver indicating that I was aware of all of the pre-existing damage. The inside smelled horrendous (like spoiled milk). It drove fine though and didn't seem to have any mechanical issues. The return process was easy. I was in and out very quickly. I honestly can't say if I would consider renting from Fox again or not. It was an insane deal compared with other options, but I also wasted a ton of time and the car was gross. At the end of the day though, I got what I needed and it was cheap. read more

Terrible experience. I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. Looking at all of the other reviews, it sounds like there is an actual scam being operated. I do not know how they are getting away with this. We prepaid for our seven-day rental on Priceline. Online it was explicitly stated that there would be NO extra fees. We arrived at the airport late in the evening, and once we made it to Fox we were told that there was mandatory insurance that we absolutely had to pay, or else we would not be allowed to rent. I told him repeatedly that I did not want extra insurance, but he refused to give me a car unless I paid over $18 daily for insurance. Additionally, we had to pay a deposit of almost $500, which is way higher than any deposit I've had to pay for a rental care before, especially one that I was supposed to be renting for $25 a day. Suddenly I was paying double with a big deposit as well. Funny enough, I feel like I got off somewhat easy. There were signs encouraging customers to pre-pay for gas and quoting the local average gas cost at $3.99, whereas the gas stations throughout the city were charging $2.50. The person "helping" us also heavily pushed for us to pre-pay for tolls, stating that there were two tolls just leaving the airport for which we would be charged $15 each if we did not pre-pay. Funny how I ended up going through zero tolls in one week in Miami and Tampa... Once I got to our AirBnB I called customer service, who were hard to reach and fairly unproffesional on the phone but nevertheless did help me out when I told them what had happened. They let me know that insurance is NOT mandatory, but that I would have to go back to Fox to get my agreement changed. So I drove all the way back just to have someone at Fox tell me that insurance was mandatory, and that customer service was mistaken. I have been trying to get in contact with Fox and Priceline ever since, with no luck so far. Luckily, there are two attorneys in my immediate family, so I feel confident that we will be getting our money back, one way or another. read more

They are a fraudulent company. What they do they charge your car through 3 party companies so when you call and ask about the charges they tell you it's not them. Thank you Fox Rent A Car Miami for making our vacation memorable! Your company has improved a lot. From airport pick-up to picking up the car was easy. As always, they will try to encourage you to buy add-ons but, you can respectfully decline if you have the right insurances like CDW being covered by your credit card and TPL insurance covered by your own car insurance. You will be charged a deposit (for me $150 since I don't live in an area not listed by them - you get this back after you return the car without any problem and I got mine the same day I returned the car). Pay by plate in Florida - if you don't want to include this in your rent just make sure you know (read fine print of the contract) and you are aware of what you need to do the first day you drive in Florida and that is avoid any roads with toll until you get to create your own Sunpass account, buy and activate a Sunpass mini and stick it where it needs to be placed (THANK YOU MARY for reminding me to REMOVE my Sunpass mini when I returned the car!). If you get to have all these done then driving should be fun and easy. Just be ALERT AND ATTENTIVE because even the road signs say it. Lastly, make sure to fill the gas tank to FULL before returning the car. I used their car for 11 days and paid $257.26. I already have recommended Fox to my friends and they were very surprised when I told them I drove a Toyota 4runner for that price! I will surely book again with them! Cheers! read more

Since June we have been charged every month until September a charge of $130 !! Every time we call billing to ask information as to why we are getting charged they transfer us to a different company to ask for information and they never answer . Billing is also closed on Saturdays , but they will definitely charge your credit card on a Saturday morning . That is ridiculous. We originally intended to rent the car for 4 days , we ended up returning it after only 2 days of having it . We had also rented a specific car , they ended up giving us a completely different car . just a heads up if you're going to be renting from here... #1 make sure you have some type of credit card with you since they do have to hold a 150$ deposit or else they will hold 450$ on your debit card. #2 ask about the tolls.. I was never told I can get some type of flat fee for tolls. now i have to pay $100 administrative fees for a 7.00 toll fee. #3 don't bother calling any type of customer service # "too busy with other customers" even though I pressed #1 to be called back when available..never got a call back. 2 weeks after my vacation I received the tolls statement, then a few days later received another one. with a different amount. when I called to make the payment the automated service said my bill was due 6/1/2021 when In fact my bill clearly says 6/6/21. this was my 1st time renting a car and it was not a great experience. hopefully this can help the next customer plan their vacation accordingly. just avoid this rental establishment In general. or if they would kindly tell the customer what to expect I'm sure theyll appreciated and get better reviews.. overall, I'm so frustrated that to avoid getting late fees I'm just going to pay the extra 100$ that was not in my vacation budget. hope this review helps the next vacationer. Fox will always slam you with gas and other extras . We filled up our tank and still got charged. The car was nasty filthy dirty, made ratteling noises and had zigarettes in the glove compartment. I would advise anyone against doing any business with this company. Be warned that your reservation with them means nothing and is not confirmed and their employees are extremely rude and unprofessional. We had a reservation for a car and when showed up to pick it up, the person behind the counter, who also claimed to be the manager, tells us that they gave our car to someone else and if we want a car we would have to pay a whole lot more to rent a different car! When I ask him how that's possible since I have a confirmed booking, he claims that the booking is meaningless and they have the right to change the reservation! Seriously? However you will NOT receive a reply. Filing a $35 civil legal suit on this location and on the employee as well. I am heading back to Miami to obtain his name. When you file suit, it will be in the legal system and it will cost the employee to respond to the defense and will serve as a lesson for them not to continue this practice. This place is terrible. The guys that work at the kiosk have to worst attitudes for no reason and are so combative it makes it super uneasy to want to rent from them I only do so because of the price but after this experience that wouldn't even matter to me anymore. IVAN tricked me and added insurance on my rental car when I never asked for it. I know what you're thinking, I should've read the agreement right? Well, I rent from them almost every month and I never get rental car insurance whenever they ask me because I have my own personal auto insurance, that'll cover me. I always answer them no even though I'm assuming that they know because I always pre-pay for my reservation on Expedia and decline the insurance through there. This time again I prepaid for the reservation and declined the liability protection and Ivan never asked me if I wanted to add insurance. He barely spoke after briefly arguing with me about what address I'm giving him for information for the deposit. He just had me sign the agreement and I did assuming that there weren't any add-ons because he didn't ask me if I wanted to add ANYTHING. Also, in the total it looked like it was correct it still said the same amount that I paid on Expedia so I didn't question it. After I turned in my rental I seen on my credit card that I incurred a $94.15 charge. I called Customer Service and she was so non empathetic and sounded like a robot and kept cutting me off telling me that I was aware that I had it because I signed for it. I WAS NOT aware because IVAN never asked me if I wanted to add on insurance and he had my reservation up on his computer obviously it says I declined it! It seems like I always have a problem with this place and EVERYTIME I reach out for help no one will help me I feel like I'm always getting scammed it's so frustrating. Just returned a car. It was lovely. The staff are crooks add will over bill you, just like they did for me, IF YOU LET THEM! How the rip-off works... You expect to pay one going through priceline or any third party vendor. You get a slightly lower rate if you pay in advance. Then when you get to the counter they will tell you you need to buy what's called the Sunpass transponder. It is $13 a day whether use it or not so suddenly your low price purchased through a third party vendor isn't so low. I still think that qualifies as a bait and switch routine. But wait, there's more... that's not where the scam ends. When you get to the counter you'll be told you need to buy a transponder whether you need it or not. I looked at my completed transactions for my credit card company when I returned the car and noticed that Fox, thru Priceline was $121. I saw another Priceline completed charge transaction the same day for another $86. The transponder charge should've been $55 but instead it's $86. I know it's not that big of a deal over $30 but if they do this to everyone that comes in, it's a nice chunk of change for them at the end of the day. When I arrived (late in the evening) I had to wait 25 minutes for the shuttle to take me to the off airport site which was in a very sketchy location, only to be told they didn't have a car car for me. When you arrive in Miami, you have to take a tram to the car rental center. That part is OK. When you get there, there's not a single sign that mentions anything about Fox and there's no fox counter. After a while you find out by asking some of the other rental car agencies that you have to go outside and take a van to get to the fox rental location. OK not great but can leave it. Here's where it goes really well. You told that you have to pay $90 for the week for a toll pass. That's almost 50% more than the car rental cost. Your choices are get a bunch of fines, avoid toll streets, which is really impossible if you're going anywhere, so you're stuck with this $90 fee for probably $10 in Toll's. Also, be aware that you'll probably not get the car that you think you're supposed to get that's fairly common these days. read more

John, the guy behind the counter said that I need to buy a toll pass, i said i don't need it because i have my own. he said the rental cars have the transponder matched to their car and that i cannot use a different one, i then replied that i'll use a pay by plate then instead. he said no and tried to scare me that i have to use the back roads. i said never mind then, because i know what he was telling me is BS. He then said that i will be charged a "waiver" fee even if i don't agree to it. when asked what the waiver fee is, he said that it is coverage for the rental car. I said already have coverage for the rental car and i don't need another one. John said i will be charged nonetheless because it is under the terms and conditions of priceline and fox when you purchased the car rental online. Showed up on time (midnight) for my rental and no shuttle bus. No calls taken after 5pm. No way to get ahold of them. Called next day and talked to the incredibly rude call center agent who said the website clearly state no shuttle after midnight (it does not). They basically said (rudely) too bad, pound sand. I should have known. These guys are the shady underground business of the car rental business. They are famous for trying to rip you off, charge you for damage you didn't do and scare you during the pick up process. Response to comment by fox: I already reached out to you. Your agent told me that I should have known that the shuttle stopped 30 minutes before you closed. How would I have know that? The recording at your site says it runs 24 hours. The rude agent (Nakisha) told me that my reservation was canceled and I'd have to pay a higher rate the next day. So not only did I have to pay for a cab that night and an Uber the next day ($60), but then you would gouge me for a higher price. When someone tells you who they are, believe them. Got off the plane, got on the train, got on the shuttle, then I arrived at the office location to find about 8 parties in line with one person working at the counter. Have waited from about 3:45-4:45 just to get to the counter. Save yourself the headache and go with a rental company located just off the train from the airport.
