I prepaid for a rental and had my husband as the driver. He picked up and signed. After telling them he wanted NO additional add pms "just give me what my wife chose" he told them. I immediately noticed the charge was over what my email said it should be and was given the run around. When I finally spoke to someone they said they had to talk to my husband. I explained the card was mine and I am the one disputing the charge. When he got on the phone the lady said, "I can't hear him" and hung up. On our trip, we go out to start the car and it won't start. We call roadside and are told we need to take it to the nearest auto-zone and get a new battery. I'm sorry what?!?!? Thankfully we were visiting my son so he was nearby to give us a jump. Sure enough autozone showed the battery was no good. My husband gets the new battery(they do a cc over the phone with the company-I certainly wasn't agreeing to them "reimbursing me" which is what they wanted to do!). That's when my husband noticed the maintenance sticker on the inside of the door that showed the car was 10,000 miles past maintenance!!!' We finally get back and come to customer service to again refute the charge. They say my husband signed for the additional coverage. First of all he's not an authorized user on my card so he can't sign, second of all evidently they covered up the page and said "sign here and here" While I'm in disputing the charge a lady next to me said the EXACT situation happened to her. I rented a car here and there are so many issues I don't even know if it will all fit. Fortunately we didn't have to wait in line and got the car pretty quickly the rep got me set up and showed me a price on the screen I asked if it included all taxes and a $150 hold that she said would fall off of my card once we returned the car. The rep assured me it included everything and I thought it was legit. I even read the paperwork before signing and it seemed legit. For us it made sense to pre pay for the gas but if you aren't going to use a full tank there is no point so make sure you think about that they don't give you back the difference if you don't use the full tank. We used the full tank so it was helpful not having to fill it up. When we got the car it was full of scratches and dents and the guy marking it for the rental company did so in about 3 seconds. I on the other hand took photos because it was so bad and i didn't want to be charged. We get in the car and there is a huge hole in the interior where the gas pedal is and honestly that's a Hazard if you ask me. Also what's more concerning is that the oil change was last completed 15,000 miles prior to what the actual miles stated it had been driven and even with full synthetic which it was a Corolla that seems a little unrealistic that it would still be safe to drive. The car shook if it went over 65mph a little bit probably needed aligned but it also I think if you pay for a car they should at least care about your safety. When returning the car it was easy and we returned it before the scheduled time, but when I received the bill it was way more than what the clerk told me and I asked several times. I think their customer service is way below average and wish I would have read the reviews before renting. I will never recommend or rent from this company again just due to all the safety concerns with the car we drove. read more

Despite all the negative reviews, there was no line or wait and no upselling (I also was clear from the get-go that I didn't need extra insurance and would return the car full). The car had about 45k miles on it, so was a bit older but as advertised was actually a Toyota Camry! It's pretty rare that car rental company actually gives you the vehicle they advertise. Kudos for that! The car had a good number of scratches and dents, but was otherwise in sound mechanical condition. The only major issue was an irritating warning that some software hadn't downloaded correctly that popped up every two minutes and took up half of the screen (which was a problem when using Apple Maps). It was quite distracting clicking the warning away every two minutes. My major beef is that the company wasn't straightforward in advertising their pricing. They claimed the rental was $238 for a week, but then charged another $200 for various fees. Other rental car companies are much more transparent about the pricing and will give you the total cost upfront. We thought the rental was very cheap when we paid what we would have gotten with any other rental car company. Would I rent again with Fox? Probably not, I don't like deceiving sales practices, but we certainly didn't have a horrible experience, either. read more

I've been traveling to Phoenix several times a month for work and am slowly working my way through all of the rental car centers out of Sky Harbor. Fox isn't the worst (I've reserved that award for Advantage/E-Z), but they also aren't the best. Still, I feel like it's a decent deal if you're able to secure a good price, which for me is anything less than the cost of Ubering to/from the office. The line was long and moved slowly when I picked up the car, but Dana (the agent who helped me) was friendly and got me out the door super fast. It helps to be a returning customer. My Yaris was fairly new and clean (compared to the beaters at Advantage), and was a reliable ride for my trip. The fuel gauge took *FOREVER* to register as full after I refilled it, causing me to go to 3 Circle K's trying to essentially top off the car and not get dinged for returning it less than full. Huge pain in the ass, along with having to go on a scavenger hunt to find a staff member when I wanted to return the car. If anyone deserves fast service, it's people trying to drop off a car to make a flight. Please help your customers out and save me the grief of running through a parking garage with my wheelie carry-on in 117 degree heat! This isn't my favorite type of review to write but I feel that it's an important type of review. I chose Fox due to the price and you know that saying " you get what you pay for" well this is a perfect example of that saying. I reserved a specific car but they didn't have any available and the car that they tried to rent us was trashed! It was filthy and dented all over, the car checklist was covered in x's so I went to speak to the manager. He was a pleasant young man (the reason for the two stars) and he offered to rent us a different car. Well he couldn't find the car on his lot, the keys and the paperwork were a mess. The young employees couldn't find anything! They finally found the keys to a new Corolla (not the most ideal car for my bf) so we decided to accept that car, even though it was new it was filthy, how does that even happen?!? Oh well we have a car and it served it's purpose. Now for the fun part of returning the car, just follow the signs they said. OH BOY!!! Ok we made it to an underground parking garage with long lines of cars and one (yes just one) person there to "help" "Leave the keys in the cars" she yells as she walks in the other direction. Um ok. No signs on how to get out of there and no one to check that we filled up the gas tank. There were other lost travelers wondering around the underground parking lot and we put our heads together and walked towards the light, great decision. There was no one to talk to so I told my bf that we can check the credit card and call them if there's any discrepancies from our original contract. Sounds like a plan. A few days later we noticed a $60 discrepancy so my by called Fox and after being on hold for an hour and talking to a supervisor they agreed that we had put gas in the car and said wait 2 to 3 business days to see a credit on our credit card, we're still waiting. Ended up paying $300/day for a dated piece of junk with a dead battery the first morning, dog nose prints all over the passenger window, trash in the console, low tire pressure and no windshield wiper fluid. I requested a normal mid-size or standard car but got this ugly, tiny, box car. After asking for options at different car size classes it became obvious. The full-size was a volkswagen golf. And by the way, the car i got was beat up. 2) Their service was slow and poor. 3) The customer service afterwards was even worse. The point of a call-back queue is not to be called back to wait in line, but I did. And then I got a completely uninspired representative who hung up on me. 4) Their online customer service is a joke. I wrote in to "Live Chat" only to get a message saying "we'll get back to you". I have rented here several times and this will be my absolute last time. The rates are ok. The only reason I use them is because they have Jeep Wrangler. I have decided it is no longer worth the lousy service. I am pretty sure this setup for people with no credit and no other options. Every time I am in there I see people walking out because their credit cards are maxed or they have no money...it is truly a sad situation. But I have continued using this place anyway because I do have credit and I like Jeeps. Would you like to rent the Batmobile or the Mystery Machine? Or how about the Jetson's Spacecar? Then make a reservation with Fox because all their cars don't exist. While I was waiting in line to be helped, I had a feeling something was wrong because a lady was flipping out on a CSR at the counter. As I got closer, the lady ahead of me was told that Fox is currently out of vehicles and that she'd be put on a wait list. She was obviously and and rightfully angry, but her CSR didn't seem to care. After she walked off, I looked over at the CSR and he had a smirk on his face like he didn't care. I was up next and of course, they're magically out of cars. The CSR put me on a wait list and said he didn't know how long it would take before something would be available. I left to another, more professional place, which did have vehicles available. Luckily they helped me out much more than Fox ever did. Seriously, don't rent from this place. You're better off renting elsewhere, or at the very worst, come without any reservations. At least then you'll find yourself in the same situation as reserving with Fox, but with less of a headache.
