1 Star -- Document Everything Before Renting From SIXT…read more I recently rented a vehicle from SIXT in Phoenix, and unfortunately my experience after returning the vehicle has been extremely frustrating. When I picked up the vehicle, it was dirty, and the parking garage was undergoing construction, which made it difficult to thoroughly inspect the vehicle under ideal conditions. I specifically mentioned my concerns about the vehicle's condition to the SIXT representative at pickup and was told not to worry about it. After returning the vehicle, I was subsequently notified of a damage claim. What concerns me most is the process. I do not believe I caused the alleged damage, and I am now left waiting for SIXT to provide the charges and supporting documentation so that I can formally dispute the claim. After researching other customer experiences, I was also troubled to find numerous complaints from renters describing disputes involving damage they say they did not cause. I understand every case is different, but seeing similar complaints certainly added to my concern about how my situation is being handled. My advice to anyone considering SIXT: take extensive photos and video of every inch of the vehicle before leaving the lot and again when returning it. Photograph the wheels, windshield, roof, bumpers, interior, and every existing scratch or mark. Do not rely solely on a verbal conversation with an employee--get everything documented. I will update this review once SIXT provides the actual damage documentation, photographs, repair estimate/invoice, and evidence supporting its claim. At this point, based on my experience, I cannot recommend SIXT.

Historically, I've always used competitors so was a bit leery using National and not sure about the service, quality, etc. National Car Rental in Phx exceeded all of my expectations! To start off with, Joy at the counter was super friendly and helpful! I had just had a rough disembarkation (because we had to wait for an open gate) but she was quick to help and get me on my way, with clear instructions that the next person would help me get my vehicle and with the understanding, friendliness, customer service we don't always see anymore. When I reached the parking lot, I was told I could choose any vehicle between the rows I was told. I couldn't believe it. The selection was incredible! I couldn't help but think I'd be charged more because I booked a smaller vehicle but ended up choosing a smaller SUV. Nope, same price. The Jeep Compass was clean, worked perfectly and was a great fit for my visit. Checking back in was also super friendly and efficient. After a quick greeting and check of the vehicle, Aiden made sure I was happy with my vehicle, if I had any questions, concerns, how it could've been better, etc. I've rented from others before where I was told to just throw the keys on the dash and that was the end of our interaction. National made the effort for a friendly, customer-driven experience every chance they had to ensure a high level of satisfaction. I didn't download the app or become a member because I wasn't sure it'd be worth it but if every National Rental Car is as friendly and accommodating as the PHX Airport site, I think I may have a new favorite car rental company! Big thanks to the National PHX Airport team for making the car rental experience one of the best I've had to date!

If it's your first time at the Phoenix airport, be ready for a long walk to get to the Sky Train…read more But at least Fox communicated accurate instructions to get to the rental car center, which I appreciated. There was a long line at Fox when my flight landed, but the entire line was gone 20 minutes later. I was impressed with the speed. Until I went downstairs to the Fox Rent A Car booth in the garage where you pick up your rental vehicle and realized they didn't actually have cars ready for all those people. I found tons of customers just standing around, restless and annoyed. Basically, you just have to wait for them to call your name when your car is ready. Obviously they overbooked and couldn't accommodate all of the reservations that were made. Wow... I have no words for how ridiculous that is. This company accepting reservations while not having cars available then having people wait an hour for their rental cars is not okay. Once my name was finally called, after waiting in the hundred degree heat for about 45 minutes, the Fox employee gave me the keys to my rental car and told me the wrong make, model, and location of the vehicle in the garage. I mean, I eventually found it using the key fob, but I'm baffled at how terrible their service was altogether. The saving grace to my experience was the quick and easy return process, but that was too little too late. I feel confident in giving a one-star rating based on my recent experience.

There was no long line (in fact, I was attended to immediately), it was just a HORRIBLE comedy of issues, one after another. This was my first experience with Budget, and will absolutely be my last. Here's a summary: I reserved an electric vehicle ("Ford Mach E or similar") through Budget using Costco's travel website. The rental fee for the entire 6 days was roughly $377, a phenomenal deal. I told the Budget employee that I had a reservation through Costco, and he couldn't find it. He asked for my confirmation number from my Costco confirmation e-mail, and found my reservation that way. He rung me up (took roughly 10 minutes), and said the total cost would be right around $1,700. I showed him the confirmation e-mail showing the $377 total, and he said that the "prices must have reset since it's now after midnight". He was unable to adjust the price because he needed a "manager number", and there were no managers on duty. He sought assistance from a coworker, who was able to help him (another 15 minutes), and got the price adjusted, but said that the car was no longer available. He looked for cars, and found a Genesis GV60, and said he could give it to me for another $10 / day, and I excitedly agreed. He went through the same ten-minute ordeal, and again, reported that the car was no longer available. This cycle went on over and over for over an hour, and I added that at that point I don't care if it's an electric car, I just want something to drive. He said he'd put me in a Mercedes, and would give it to me for the same $10 / day premium over my original price. He wrote parking space #140 on my pickup ticket, told me the keys were in the car, and to just go to spot 140 to pick it up, and show the QR code he'd texted me on my way out. So, off I went to the garage, found space 140, and in it was a Genesis, not the Mercedes on my contract. So, I went for help from the in-garage attendant, and he repeated the same "here's a car", "I'll update the contract", "Oops, that car's not available" a few more times. He eventually was able to transfer a "car over from the Avis side", and I went to the parking space to get it and it was a Ford Mach E, just like I'd reserved. Budget corporate responded to my "how did we so" survey, and refunded one day's rental fee, and apologized, thus the extra star.

This is an update to my last update. More than a month later NO ONE has responded. Budget did give…read moreme a refund for 2 out of 8 days of my rental. When they first offered it, I turned it down. It wasn't enough. They gave it to me anyway. Sky Harbor is complicit in that they never even acknowledged my complaint to them. So much for the friendliest airport in the country. They basically gave me the Don't rent from Budget. Like so many corporations today, they don't give a crap about the people who hold the money. Use anyone else, just not them.

We will be renting from Payless anytime we come down there again.

I can't put my finger exactly on whether its the family feeling that the place conveys when a perspective rental customer walks through the doors or not, but what ever it is it works. The staff were not phoney friendly for the sake of business, nor were they overly friendly absent of running a highly efficient and effective business. Like so many other people Last Resort have seen come through their doors, I too, was in urgent need of a vehicle after scheduling two weeks in advance a a vehicle reservation from one of the popular national car rental companies who failed to inform me until I was standing there at their counter that they do not rent with a debit card. Last Resort took care of things and didn't bat an eye otherwise. This will be my third time renting from them, and I am certain, it won't be my last. Oh, how do you ask, did I find out about Last Resort? Well, the same car company that initially did not rent to me, had an employee chase me down upon leaving and slip me a name and number along with his name and told me to call them. He said they were good and would certainly help me out. Needless to say, after nearly 15 years of cash and carry I have since broke down and obtained a credit card and this is now my third consecutive time renting from Last Resort since that day. This Private Rent A Car company was a life saver for my family and I. We had reservations for Budget once we landed we find out there is a 3 hour wait to get a car even with reservation. We met a guy by the name of Razzi From Last Resort Rental who picked us up and provided an amazing price for a 15 passenger van and did I mention gave us a great price. He and his brother Andy, who was the owner were absolutely amazing so very nice, and was so willing to help. My wife and I went to Arizona on vacation. We had reserved a car with Thrifty and after waiting two hours in line to sign the papers, it became obvious we, along with a whole lot of other people were promised cars that we weren't going to get. Rasty rescued us. He picked us up, drove us to their offsite location and got us a car. Yes, it as an older, high mileage Corolla that rattled and could have used a new set of wipers, but it got us wherever we wanted to go, even through high winds and a dust storm. When we took it back, at the end of the week, they drove us directly to our terminal and helped with the luggage. This is a small family-owned business. I went from a pre-paid rental car at another place, to no rental and no way to get to our destination, to a rental car from Last Resort! Rasty was wondeful to work with, i truly appreciate everything he did for us. I had no idea i would run into the issues i did when picking up my rental at the big- name place. It was just my daughter and I, we flew in for her dance competition. I had all of my things pre-paid so i wouldn't have to worry about anything going wrong being on my own half way across the country. Turns out i was mistaken, but Rasty saved the day! Arrived at the Phoenix Airport only to find out Budget did not have any cars for at least 2-3 hours even though we had made a reservation. The guy at the Budget counter introduced us to Rasty of Last Resort Rent-a-Car. Rasty agreed to the rental price we were quoted by Budget for a 10 day rental so we said let's do it. He was very welcoming. Helped us with our bags and drove us to the rental company office. He held up to his word and we were able to rent a RAV4 for the 10 days. You have a choice. Deal with stupidity with the rental car companies whether it's a cc or a debit card issue. I was given Andy's contact after budget screwed me up and i was on a time crunch. Called Andy came and got me in about 20 minutes. Cheapest..i don't know. Simple, fast and clean along with piece of mind 100%. We are working on clearing something up that happened but in the mean time 5 star easy. I got to the Phoenix car rental center and no one would rent to me because I did not have a round trip airline ticket. I had a one way from Baltimore and one way to Los Angeles. Rasty saved the day for me when it looked like I was going to be stuck at the car rental center at the Phoenix Airport. He didn't charge me a deposit where the others wanted over $250 to hold on my account. Plus they wouldn't accept my debit card where Rasty had no problem with my debit card. I drove away in a RAV 4. Like other reviews, last resort was well- my last resort. Originally booked with hertz & I get there and they have all these complications like me being under 25 & not having a credit card. Left and walked around the car rental area for over 2 hours with no luck anywhere before walking into dollar rental, they referred me here. A shout out to Andy who saved our rears after not being able to rent a car at the airport. After several hours at several different car rental agencies, someone from Sixt recommended Last Resort (LOVE the name!). Andy picked us up from the airport almost immediately, hooked us up with a nice Toyota Rav4, and then took us back to the airport on the way home. We are very grateful and recommend this company! I truly hope the owner is taking care of their people that are working outside and at least have some coolers out there for them. I heard one of the girls say that she was an office managers, and she was always talking the most crap about the outside employees Treat your outside employees way better than that. Those women in the office are horrible. The manager should make them work outside and maybe they will understand, how to treat people.

They were extremely understanding when my bank didnt wire the money to them ( I live in Washington) and although policy is 72 hours they extended that period for me.
