Golfed here in July. Course is nice but the ranger is so pushy, it really ruins the experience. You should not be approached repeatedly because you are golfinging five minutes behind pace when no one is being held up. read more

No drinking water on the entire course. We had 7:36 AM tee time. We hit the turn at 9:30AM. Less than 2 hrs on the front, and yet the rangers asked us to speed up twice (after 6 and 8). 2 groups of 3 behind us that were apparently in a hurry, but didn't want to pass us at the turn. We spent 15 mins getting drinks and a bite at the turn. Finished the round at 11:50. 4:14 pace. I spoke to the ranger after the round. He laughed and told me I wasn't wrong. Smirked the whole time I talked to him and clearly was uninterested in what I had to say. We won't play there again Cost us $65 a person for the round. Over priced and poor service. read more

If you play here, BE SURE TO BRING YOUR OWN WATER. I happened to try this place out on a very hot day. They do not provide water at all, I felt like I was going to keel over. There are vending machines near certain holes, but they were empty and did not even have the price of the item. They have water in the bar/restaurant and will provide you a cup to take out on the course with you, but I didn't find this out until after. So if you don't bring your own water be sure to get a cup to go before you start. As for the golfing, it's as if the cups were smaller than usual or the grass was over grown around the cups. I had several near birdies/pars rim out. It also seemed to me the cup placement were in tricky spots, which is unnecessarily frustrating. Else the course is pretty nice and in decent condition. I did not have the staff try to rush me or anything, but I went on a day/time when not many people were playing. read more

We had a great day at Fox Run golf. The first impression in the pro shop was very good. The young man at the desk was very courteous and when we asked about the range he gave us very good directions to the off-site range. When we came back the starter Tom was helpful and got us off on the start of a good round of golf. The course was challenging and in good shape. The Fox Den restaurant was great. Great little public course. I agree with the other reviewers about the militancy of the course marshalls. I stopped wanting to play golf because I really hated 5 to 6 hour rounds. As far as my score goes I am terrible, But as a customer I really like 18 holes play between 3 hours 50 minutes and 4 hours 15 minutes. So, the marshalls asking folks to pick-up in my mind is a really good thing. When ready golf and "pick up the play" are good things for golf. Both the front and back nine have had a great deal of work to promote drainage and better play. This is a great place to swing a club and improve your game. If you are an Elk Grove resident it is a great place to take family and friends, play a game and not spend as much money as on some of the other courses in the vicinity. read more

Fox Run offers a great golf experience on a unique course; I've played there multiple times and the conditions have always been exceptional. I highly recommend playing here HOWEVER I strongly advise to bring water as there are only two places on the entire course to get it. read more

I played golf at Fox Run this week for the first and last time! The course is in decent condition for a park district, but it is managed by an army of retired men in red shirts whose sole purpose in life seems to be driving around the course and hassling paying golfers. After about 5 holes, someone came up to us and told us that we were "14 minutes behind schedule and needed to pick up the pace." About 2 holes later, they came by again and told us the same thing, and that we "weren't even trying." The course wasn't very busy that day, and there wasn't anyone waiting behind us, so we didn't know what the problem was. We even skipped several holes to get them off our backs. We had never been at a golf course where we were hassled to keep moving like this, and we will never be back! The only positive thing was that girl driving the drink cart came by frequently. read more

I am writing this review for my husband. Him, my father in-law, and a friend played a round of golf at fox run on a Monday evening. My husband got the tee time on the website. When they arrived they were immediately hassled by an employee about the tee time that they got on their website. The employee claimed it wasn't possible because of leagues. After confirming that my husband did indeed have this tee time they got out on the course only to continue to be hassled by employees. My husband golfs once sometimes twice a week at various local golf courses and has never experienced anything like fox run. He will not be returning. read more

I do not think it is very hard to get out on this course. Overall the course is pretty well kept and the prices are also reasonable. I usually have a good time when I come out. read more

This course is decent. The Rangers are complete jerks. When we tee'd off, the Ranger had no clue what he was doing. He put 2 walkers and a one cart rider in front of us then he put us in a group of 5(3 cart riders and 2 walkers). after us, he had a twosome on a cart behind us. Halfway through the back nine, the ranger came and took the one guy out of our group and put him ahead. Then he said we had to tee off at the gold. so we did then he came by again while we were putting and said to pick up our balls. we went to the next hole and he put the twosome behind us in front of us. it turned into a log jam because of that. the ranger was very disrespectful. I recommend that no one goes there as the rangers are jerks and hassling all the time. You can't enjoy golf that way. we we were within the time limits so there was no need to hassle us. I have never been told to pick up my ball on the green or told to tee off at a different color tee in my life. I have also never tee'd off in a group of 5. Fox run is horrible. I would give them negative stars if I could. read more
