It happens to the best of us, at one point or another. I have a vehicle stuck somewhere and need to get it somewhere else. My brush with inevitability came early on a frosty late November morning and we found our old Honda Odyssey (21 years old as of this writing) starting up in our driveway with a blinking check engine light and super-rough idle. I know just the mechanic to fix this (see my 2011 review for Brock Automotive), but--that mechanic happens to be 19 miles away from my disabled vehicle. Enter Fox Towing. I told them I needed a tow from my house to the shop in Beaverton, it's "not particularly urgent, I'm not at the side of the road or anything." He arrived pretty quickly, about 3 hours, and got the van up on the truck in about twenty minutes. I got a call a half hour later that the vehicle was being unloaded at the shop. I barely needed to move a muscle (well, I guess I got up to answer the door...) and the car was safely in the shop at around the 4 hour mark. All this for a very reasonable price. Great experience. It's been a long time since I've been as badly treated as I was today by Fox Towing. I called them before hiring them to come to my house to tow my daughter's car. I got a quote from the girl on the phone and it seemed fair ($82 plus $5/mile) and so I said have the truck come. Mark came quickly and did a good job, and when he was finished told me it would be $255. When I told him that was not what the office quoted me, he said, "Well, they shouldn't have said that" and "You're going to try to get reimbursed for it right?" as if that had anything to do with it. He took off $30, but the final price was still double. Here's the kicker...When I got home and called Fox Towing to speak with person, Shay, who quoted me the price, I told her what the guy charged me and asked her why she didn't quote me the right price. She said, "I did. And you repeated it back to me on a recorded line." I have never been so gaslighted in my life. In the end, it's not about the money for me. It's about the dishonesty. The lying. The lack of accountability. I don't know if Shay is the owner or some horrible employee, but WOW! Use them at your own risk. read more

We are a small business in the start-up phase. on the way to a delivery, we got in a car accident after a driver cut off the driver in front of us and he slammed on his brake. carrying a heavy cargo, we were not able to stop in time to avoid an accident. Today at 10:29 am I had to have my vehicle towed to a collision repair shop and Fox Towing was scheduled through my insurance. My appointment was for 11 am at the collision shop and I had not heard from the towing company at 10:15 am so I decided to call on my own. The guy who answered the call said the driver had tried calling me and left a voicemail. I nicely told him I had no missed calls or voicemails. I had my phone glued to my hip making sure I didn't miss it. The man said the driver was almost to me , so I went outside to make it easier to find ( we have been told in the past sometimes our address can be tricky). The driver passed me and turned around. My vehicle was in the driveway for easy access and I moved the rental in front of the house. The driver backed up fast in front of the rental jumped out yelling this one , I said no the one in the driveway. He cussed saying something and jumped back in backing into the driveway he jumped out and I said I'm sorry I didn't hear what you said getting in the truck as I'm hard of hearing he said I said you don't need to be rude. I said sorry I wasn't being rude. He looked at me and said just so you know we don't normally pick up vehicles when people don't answer their phone. I told him I didn't get a call or voicemail and he could look at me phone log. At that point after hearing him continue to curse I pulled out my phone to record. Only interaction after that was him telling me to get my phone out of his face and give him the key. ( not said in the same sentence) okay so I'm not writing this mini book only because of that. When my vehicle was up and he took off he not only drove over my neighbors lawn but the front end of my can was dragging on the pavement. Yes I have the video. I could have got past the rudeness but not dragging my car off. Just because you're angry doesn't give you a right to treat my car like that, the value of this company depends on how a driver interacts with the customer. Was picked up by a man, woman and dog. He drove us like a bat out of hell to our home about an hour away. I was holding on for deal life as he swerved in and out of lanes, driving 70MPH+ down hwy 26. We finally get home.. all is good. 10 mins later we go outside to asses the vehicle to see what might have been wrong with it and to our absolute disbelief, our driver had URINATED on our car! He peed all over the front tire and front end of the vehicle and there was urine all the way down our driveway. Maybe he drove crazy cuz he had to pee? Jeez man. Find a bush next time! read more

When I arrived to pick up my car it had been rifled through.The glove box and center console were open and paper work was scattered.All my things were gone! My document safe briefcase, keys, registration and personal information was missing. Justin refused to give me back my things. He said, "pay or we keep all your stuff". I have never heard a single good thing about a tow company ever. Theres a first for everything and let me tell you... It was close to midnight and I would need a big flatbed trailer. I had called AAA first as I have a policy that I have had for years but apparently because the car was just purchased at auction and was not registered to me (the paperwork didn't matter) I was denied use of my tow option. First complaint I've ever had using my AAA but that's beside the point. I called several local tow companies to arrange for a tow that I thought may cost more than the car was worth. I tried two companies and git a recorder. I called Fox and The manager answered my call on the first ring. I explained my situation and he said no problem. He gave me a quote of around $100, I was estatic. The driver showed up, a tall younger man who could have been intimidating with his East Coast swag. Until he got closer and stretched out his hand to shake mine and with a huge grin on his face he introduced himself as Daniel. That instantly changed my preconceptions. He was informative and kind, and surprisingly respectful of the neighboring houses ....It was now 1am and a flatbed is not the quietest tow option. I knew it took way longer than I'm sure they factored in originally because I didn't mention the steering was messed up. But it didn't phase Daniel nor did he charge me more and he provided service outside of the normal scope which is what will keep me a fan and loyal customer. It was appropriate so I gave a gratuity at the end. And will recommend Daniel to anyone needing services Westside Portland, Tigard, Tualatin, and WIlsonville. read more

I got into a very serious accident and Fox was the one who towed my vehicle away. If you notice in the picture the blanket covering the car, it was Fox's blanket they used to make sure anything inside my car was not damaged by the outside conditions. I was not at fault but they did not know that, they didn't know me, and they are the ones who took this picture when I asked them to do so and they did it gladly. My 2008 Prius had a dead battery and if you know anything about the 2nd gen Prius and dead batteries, you know they basically turn into a door stop. You can't roll them, they're just a lump. Lee arrived quickly and got to work getting the lump out from under my carport and onto his flatbed. It wasn't easy at all as my home is situated on a curve and there was little room to maneuver. My story... This morning, I stupidly find myself locked out of my car. Thankfully, I had my phone in my pocket. I quickly Google towing companies around me and Fox Towing comes up - and so I call, PURELY based on all these great Yelp reviews. Mistake. The man on the other end of the phone was rude, super short with me when I didn't know my exact address (I am at a transit center, for god sake). He is hard to understand, and there is a Max going by - so when I have to ask "can you repeat that?" for the second time, he flat out yells his question at me. I tell him, "I will Google the address and call back if I need you." After this initial phone call, I decide this is probably not my best option. I end up calling the next company down. Long story short, this one went much smoother, and they had me out of there within 30 minutes. But that's not the end of the story. I make it to work, am sitting happily at my desk, and I get a phone call from none other than Fox Towing, asking where I am. I tell him I was able to call someone else and am already gone. This guy literally started yelling at me, saying they had driven all the way there. (thought you didn't know where it was, buddy?) and then proceeds to hang up on me when I apologize for the misunderstanding. bottom line... so RUDE. Great service!!!! It was about 1:30am!!! The guy, Josh that was dispatched to me was very friendly. I needed to have a vehicle towed and he asked for my identification and proof that the car was parked illegally in my stall. He waited for about 10 minutes and long story short I did not have the proof. He told me that I could call or text him the paper work when I find it and he would be more than happy to come back. 5 minutes after he left I found what I needed. I texted him the information and he came right back to pick up the vehicle. Super nice, polite, and friendly!!!!! He even called me to let me know the job was done. Excellent customer service!!!! My insurance contracted them for roadside assistance. I was given a quoted time of 65 minutes. I received a text after that time stating there would be a delay. The young woman at reception said she'd find out what time I could expect service. She never called back. When I phoned 15 minutes later she put me on hold and did not return until finally I was disconnected. I then got a text stating service was delayed for 90 minutes. This self-entitled receptionist told my insurance company I harassed her. She is rude, unkind and entirely unfit for employment involving customers or customer service. I ended up having to change the tire on my own with the help of a police officer. The company owner apologized for his receptionist's behavior. The owner was helpful and understanding, in stark contrast to his receptionist. His concern for customer service (especially when stranded on the side of the road) would be improved by firing this inexperienced, entitled, rude and unhelpful receptionist, immediately. read more

A driver from Fox was dispatched to help me after I called AAA. My car had died in an intersection and everything pointed to a bad alternator. The tow driver was in the process of trying to get the car started long enough for me to roll up the windows when he notices that my battery cable was loose. Not only did he tow me all the way home to make sure I made it safely (over 35 minutes) but helped fix my battery connection, probably saving me a LOT of money. I was so impresses and he was so nice.
