I really love this place, it is truly a perfect fit for a family with young kids, that likes to stay active, and needs options for sports and programs. We also utilize before and after school care (BASE, used to be called SAFE) and activity days during non-school days. The fitness room has been recently refreshed, and is kept very clean. The programs offered have a great variety and varied scheduling, and it isn't too hard to get into something of interest. We've been very happy with our experience in both gymnastics and swimming, and are looking forward to trying the revamped basketball program. We've been members for over 10 years, since before marriage and kids, and we love the Y - and I'm excited for the new North Branch to open soon, too. read more

So this YMCA is near my house and has EVERYTHING you would find in a big chain gym at a budget price. For under $40 a month I can take spin classes, yoga, pump, step and core. The shower facilities are very nice and the staff is super cool. If you live in the area check out this YMCA or check out one near you - you won't be disappointed! read more

If you plan on joining this place for pool access forget about it. During the week the prime time hours are reserved for swim meets from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm. They close the pool 30 minutes before closing @ 8:30, so you get an hour maximum 7:30-8:30 (1 hour) but only part of the pool is available. Weekends are reserved until noon so if you like to swim in the morning forget about it. They also reserve pool for life guard training and senior swimming so you need to work around this as well. Unless you're retired and don't work during the day this place will not be worth the money, a better value may be out there but do some investigating. 1 star for so many restrictions. read more

The monthly gym membership is high considering the lack of cleanliness. This past month I have been quite disappointed

The place is a bit of a nightmare. Upon signing up, I let them know I had joint issues due to Lyme disease and was looking to use the pool and was told the pool was heated. In the summer the pool temp was not too bad, but as soon as it got a bit cooler outside, the pool is freezing. They claim they leave the temp between 82 and 83 degrees, but it's much colder. The pool guy Kevin suggested I get a 100 dollar neoprene top to keep warm, he was an condescending ass. The pool temp of 82 is for Olympic athletes. But it is dangerous for babies, young children, the elderly and people with a compromised immune system like myself. I was there a week ago for a zumba swim class. It was so cold I was having severe pain in my lungs and had to get out because I couldn't breathe. Only 5 people showed up for the class that night, there use to be about 35 people. But people don't want to go from freezing outside to a freezing pool. Then there is this manager Stephanie I talked to, SMH. She was clueless and it seems she is only a manager there because her mother is on the board of directors. No knowledge of what pool temp should be. Before you sign your children up for swimming lessons... Feel the water, I've seen children with their lips turning blue and no body does anything about it. read more

Good daycare, horrible summer camp-lots of kids but not very many counselors. Several injuries were sustained because no one was watching so abusive children are not dealt with and they don't have time to talk to the parents of the injured child. read more

I agree with Jim M. that they cater to certain groups and the rest of us... even though we are paying customers also, just have to wait until the groups are done. Not fair They offer lockers to put your clothes in, but they are extremely narrow and crowded so if you want to squeeze in between the groups to dress or undress, wait until the groups are done. Not fair to other paying customers. Also, the lockers aren't really included with your membership! If you don't want to cram your things into the short locker, PAY EXTRA for a long one! Not ethical While the lockers are not unisex, you still have to put up with little girls in the men's locker room and little boys in the women's locker room. If you're an exhibitionist, this is a plus, but if you show these children your wienie outside of the Y you will be arrested. Seriously? Why not have a separate family dressing room for these ignorant people that don't teach kids that staring is impolite and rude? Other fitness centers do. read more

Would NOT recommend sending your child to their day camp. If your child is currently attending, I recommend you ask about the bullying that occurs among the children, staff that aren't aware of what the children are doing, front office that approves of incident reports then verbally say they are incorrect and a director that just doesn't seem to take parent inquires seriously. Will never use this place again because the front office just didn't seem to really care to follow up on anything. read more

In joining the Y, I never thought I'd be a part drama like I was this week. The "board of directors" abruptly and unjustly fired their gymnastics director of 16 years for no apparent reason except small town politics and personal agendas. Or maybe age discrimination? I'm not really sure at this point in time. Oh, and all of this happened just 6 weeks shy of the team gymnasts biggest meet of the season, YMCA Nationals. Upon firing the director, almost all her staff quit on the spot. What does that say about the situation? Not only did most staff quit, but a lot of team girls have resigned as well. The coach, and I use that term lightly, they chose to replace her hasn't coached in several years nor is she even certified to coach, let alone RUN THE ENTIRE DEPARTMENT. I had a daughter on pre team, set to move onto team this summer and hopefully compete in the fall/winter. Unfortunately this week has been full of tears for her as I have pulled her from the program for safety concerns. We will be searching elsewhere for a new gym. At a recent meeting for team parents regarding these recent changes the board claimed this is a "life lesson" for these innocent children. Really? That's how you justify yourselves for your actions? Who are you to be the people to give my child a life lesson? Between the board's lack of interest in retaining current team/staff members and only viewing these humans as dollar signs I'm through with the YMCA and would urge no one to trust them with the safety of their children. read more
