What an incredible find! Foxy's Landing is truly a hidden gem in Lancaster. The moment you walk in, you can feel the history and charm through all the decor and vintage aviation photos -- it's such a unique atmosphere! Being able to watch the small planes take off and land while enjoying breakfast or lunch made the experience even more special. The views are awesome and add something you just can't find anywhere else around here. Our server was super polite, and the service was excellent from start to finish. The food was delicious -- fresh, flavorful, and made with care. You can really tell they take pride in what they do. This place deserves way more recognition -- Foxy's Landing is a must-visit for anyone in the Lancaster area. Huge thanks to the staff for making our visit such a great one!

The only reason why they're able to charge a premium for the food here is because of the location being charming. They've added a dollar to every single menu item. It's not expected, but there's no military discount which we find odd for a place named after a military general.

Ate on patio out back with my friend and dog. Nice scenery. Ordered bacon and eggs. She had avocado toast.

First time eating here today, food was great, service was great not sure how I haven't been here before but I will be back.

Foxy's Landing is located at the private Fox Airfield in Lancaster which is somewhat outside the main part of town. It is one of the closest restaurants though that is normally open only until 2PM when visiting the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve. It is perfect for breakfast or lunch. The restaurant is reminiscent of a typical diner. You can sit in one of the booths at the windows facing the airstrip and enjoy the view. Some of the seats in the booths are a bit worn. The food is generally good. I had the chicken breast pesto sandwich. It was much bigger than I expected. The sandwich was made with Texas size sourdough bread and a large piece of grilled chicken breast. Unfortunately, it was a bit dry so I had to add some mayo to the sandwich to improve it. Prices are typical for a diner-like environment. Service was great. The wait and service staff were very friendly and accommodating which made the dining experience enjoyable.

I have this thing for tiny airport cafes, so I just had to stop by Foxy's on my way through Lancaster as I was traveling back to LA from California City. I arrived a little after 1 p.m. on a day they closed at 2, and it looked like they'd been really busy. The booths and tables weren't full, but the empty ones were all still littered with dirty dishes and crumbs. I was greeted by a server who said I can pick any table I liked, and if it wasn't clean, they'd come over and clean it. I picked a table facing the windows so I could get a good view of planes landing and taking off (though there actually wasn't that much activity on the runway that day). And someone did come right over to wipe my table down and take my order. However, I waited a long time for my food until the cook/chef came over and told me my ticket must've gotten lost, because he didn't have any tickets in the kitchen. I repeated my order to him and he said he'd take care of me right away. My food did arrive pretty quickly after that, and my server came over to apologize for what happened, and said that they would give me 20% off my bill. Unfortunately, when I got my bill, there was no such discount reflected -- but honestly, it wasn't that big of a deal to me, so I didn't say anything,. The BLT on wheat LOOKED great -- but the crispy bacon was very tough, almost like jerky. Some pieces I couldn't even bite through and I had to leave them on the plate. The twisty fries were hot and greasy and fresh, well worth the paid upgrade. If I go back, I'll order something different next time and will try to arrive early enough to make the breakfast hours. Given the atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff, it seems worth giving a second chance.

If you are into airplanes and such, do stop by at Foxy's and check out the pictures on the walls. Amazing stories for sure. Staff was very nice, we even got to chat with the cook who had a great sense of humor. Food was ample and delicious.

The veggies were obviously from frozen and were not very enjoyable. I spent roughly $55 for the entree plus $2 for the sautéed mushrooms which were also disappointing. All in all just not a great tasting meal. After tip and tax $70 was the total and I feel disappointed tricked. I would ask the chef to please put a little more love into your food. If you are going to sauté mushrooms, use some butter, not cooking oil. Get a little flame on your steaks to bring out the flavor and let it acclimate a little bit before you throw it on the grill so it stays juicy. Use fresh vegetables, not frozen or cooked and reheated the next day. The service was great BTW. Only I could tell she knew I wasn't enjoying my meal, which is probably why she didn't ask me how I liked it. On the other hand I had an excellent meal at Broken Bit steakhouse not far from here the day before. The chef should go there and learn something. Oh yeah and my meal was $10 less there.

We started with a French baguette served with honey butter and olive oil for dipping. Both paired perfectly with the bread and were incredibly flavorful. Food 3-5 - we've had mixed experiences, but mostly very good. There aren't any off menu requests accepted. One cannot replace ingredients. One can only remove specific items from a menu choice. Don't even ask. Apparently the chef's policy is absolute. Ambiance 4-5 nicely decorated and designed. Has a high end feel that is unusual for the AV. So why the 3 stars? One single experience. My wife asked the server (Jackie) if it would be possible to get a side of sauteed mushrooms. She said probably not as it's not permitted by the chef. We asked to speak to the manager to express our disappointment. When Jake showed up, before we uttered a word, he stated that it's just something they don't do, so no to our request. Then he turned and walked away. There was no dialogue. It was a one way conversation. In essence, we and our request were dismissed. The experience was incredibly off-putting. It was unnecessary to respond to a patron's request in that manner. Totally unacceptable. I write this review to memorialize the experience for others, because it won't matter to the owner/chef/management. It seems, judging by their total lack of response to other reviews, good or bad, that it really doesn't. Typical dinners we've had run a tab of $150-200 (including tip). We have visited 1-2 times a month for the past two years. We have brought friends and family on several occasions, generating additional per-visit revenue for the restaurant. Again, this doesn't seem to matter. So, sadly, we're going to have to take a leave of this place. Too bad really.

This is a review in two parts. First, lunch…read more Maxdons claims to have the best steaks in town. Pretty bold statement. However, the place has been around for a long time and the rumor is that it is pretty darn good so I figured I would try the lunch menu. I will be returning this weekend to try the dinner menu and report in on any differences that I may find because this lunch experience was somewhat unique and definitely worth writing about. Upon entering, I was washed over with a wave of nostalgia. It reminded me of all of those semi-fancy places I got to experience with my parents in the 1970s from the lighting to the ambience to the music to the general overall feel, which is very welcoming. And if you are as old as I am, will definitely take you back. And that is a great way to get an appetite started. However, that's when things got a little strange... On a Saturday afternoon, they had exactly one young lady tending bar, working the grill, and acting as a server for not only the interior but for the outside patio area. I'm not sure whether or not this is a gimmick or just a very inefficient way to save money, but let me tell you that that young lady worked herself crazy to take care of everybody and under the circumstances did a fine job of it. Unfortunately, the grill is out in the main dining area and an open fire grill unattended can create somewhat of a safety issue. In addition, an old gentleman well into his cups decided to go over and place his face 6 inches above the food that was currently being cooked, which I thought was a little unsettling. Based on all of this, I decided to order a cheeseburger in that I did not want to risk $50-$60 on a steak that was not going to be attended to consistently. That, dear reader, will come to pass this weekend when I go in for dinner this weekend. Now that we have a basic understanding of the layout, I want to mention a few awesome things: The cocktails were very well made. Generous pours, but they didn't overdo it and the result was delicious. I, myself, enjoyed a Mai Tai. The salad bar was modestly stocked, but did not have a bunch of unnecessary, ridiculous items that people seem to think makes a salad taste better. They also had a soup of the day. But, at 95° outside was not on my list of things to eat. Again, that will be Saturday. The cheeseburger was surprisingly delicious due to the fact that I don't think it was looked at more than twice and flipped more than once, but it was pretty darn good with a great char, and medium as ordered. Upon requesting the check, it was noticed that the dinner salad listed on the menu at $7.99 was charged at $25. After three different conversations, the overworked server / cook / bartender realized the error and immediately made things right. All in all this place is definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. The research I did shows that the locals just love it. You can go on a classy date or something casual with some friends, and you will still have that sophisticated, refined throwback to an earlier time when going out to dinner was truly an event. The only concern I have is for a staff member having to deal with several people and wear several hats with no backup whatsoever. The inability to stay on top of a grill that is consistently going in the main dining area is a safety concern, but not the fault of the server herself. This is a management decision and I would definitely recommend that a second person is always on whether it is lunch or dinner. She did mention that in the dinner time cycle, there is another person who comes in to assist and that is the reason I'm going back Saturday. I want to see how the dinner turn and burn works because the burger was really good and I imagine that the steaks are gonna be just as good as everybody says they are. It is definitely worth a visit. Until then....
