Last spring on April 25, our home warrant company sent Entire Air Solutions to do a spring tune-up…read moreon our 2 HVAC units. The primary goal of a tune-up is to optimize the system's performance, extend its lifespan, and prevent potential issues before they become costly problems. Jason from Entire Air inspected our systems, said everything was fine and went on his way. He did not remove the valve service caps to hook up hoses to measure system pressures directly to determine the health of the systems but apparently did it in a different way. On every spring tune-up we have had before, technicians measure the level of refrigerant in the system by attaching gauges to the unit which involves connecting hoses to the unit by removing the valve caps and connecting the gauges to the system. Over the next few weeks after Jason inspected our systems on April 25, the downstairs unit quit cooling well, and by June 21, it started blowing air at 75 degrees. On June 21, Jason with Entire Air returned to determine why our downstairs unit was not cooling. He said that one of the service valve caps, which he did not inspect on April 25, was deteriorated ("had dry rot") and was the cause of loss of refrigerant. He added 5 pounds of R22 at a cost of $600 and put on a new service valve cap. On his return visit on June 21, Jason did not do a leak test to determine the original source of the leak, which clearly turned out not to be the valve cap as the system continued to leak R22 over the next several weeks. Nor did Jason add leak freeze during this follow up visit as a preventative measure in case there might have been a leak in the line somewhere that had caused the initial 5 pound loss of coolant. Three weeks later on July 17, Tim from Speedy Electric & AC came out to inspect the system and found that an additional 2 pounds of R22 had leaked from the system since June 21 when Jason had added 5 pounds of R22. Tim found that both Schrader valves were not tightly secured and he had to tighten both of them down to prevent further leaking, as Schrader valves are known to be a source of refrigerant leaks in air conditioning systems. Tim added 2 pounds of R22 at an additional cost of $320 to us and also added Rectorseal Leak Sealer in case there were any line or coil leaks present. Had a deteriorated service valve cap been the source and cause of the 5 pound loss of coolant, then by simply replacing the valve cap, which is all Jason did on June 21, the system would not have leaked any more. I spoke with John, who said he was the owner of Entire Air to complain why our unit had lost so much refrigerant in only 7 weeks. He said that his technicians do not use gauges to measure pressure/coolant levels because doing so could release small amounts of coolant from removing the valve caps and hooking up gauges. Instead, he said his technicians measure temperatures to calculate pressure levels by referring to a pressure/temperature chart. Even if this an acceptable way of estimating pressure and coolant levels, the service caps still should have been removed and inspected to determine the condition of the rubber gaskets inside the caps to see if they needed to be replaced. Jason did not do this. on his April 25 inspection. The initial spring inspection by Entire Air on April 25 was inadequate. The follow up on June 21 was inadequate since a leak test was not done, nor were the Schrader valves inspected during that visit to make sure they were tight and not leaking, nor was leak freeze added as a preventative measure. On July 21, Speedy Electric & AC properly diagnosed and corrected the system issues and we have had no further leaks since then. As a result of poor service from Entire Air, my wife and I incurred charges of $920 and $70 for a second service call which might have been unnecessary had a proper tune up had been performed on April 25. We cannot recommend Entire Air and will never use them again.

Unfortunately, my experience with Burnside Gold Maintenance has been extremely disappointing. During a maintenance visit, the HVAC technician (who I later heard was no longer with the company) appeared to leave my system in worse condition than before. After that, Burnside repeatedly presented me with costly repair recommendations. When I moved into my first home, I scheduled a routine inspection. I was told my existing AC and furnace were old and could fail at any moment, and I was convinced to replace the entire system. Since purchasing a brand-new AC from Burnside, the fan has failed twice, even though my previous unit never had that issue. The first time the fan failed, despite the unit still being under warranty, I was charged approximately $900, which I was told was primarily for labor. When the fan failed again less than a year later, they attempted to charge me similarly. I questioned why a brand-new fan would fail twice in such a short period, especially after investing in a completely new system. What made matters worse was their refusal to stand behind their work. I had renewed my Gold Membership only two days before the second failure occurred, yet they still would not provide any accommodation or assistance. I sent emails, made phone calls, and was repeatedly told someone would contact me, but those calls never came. Concerned about the situation, I posted my experience on Nextdoor and shared the email correspondence. In response, several HVAC professionals and companies reached out and expressed concern over the repair costs I had been quoted. I also obtained opinions from other HVAC companies, and each was shocked by Burnside's pricing. In the end, other companies repaired the issue for around $100, a fraction of what Burnside wanted to charge. Considering that their maintenance visits are roughly $40 each, it's hard for me to justify paying nearly $200 per year for a Gold Membership when I received so little value and support. My advice: RUN. Do your homework before signing up for Burnside's maintenance plans or repair services. There are many reputable HVAC companies that provide better value, better communication, and better customer service. And before Burnside responds with, "We truly appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns," please understand that you already had that opportunity. I called multiple times, sent emails, and repeatedly tried to resolve these issues directly. I was promised return calls that never came and responses that never materialized. Even the front desk staff, who have always been courteous and professional, seemed surprised that management never followed up with me despite my repeated attempts to get answers. The reality is that when I questioned repair charges that seemed excessive for a relatively new system and components still under warranty, I was met with little support and a lack of accountability. After obtaining opinions from multiple other HVAC companies, the pricing I was quoted by Burnside raised serious concerns, and other companies resolved the same issue for a fraction of the cost. I gave Burnside multiple opportunities to make this right. Instead, I felt ignored, overcharged, and pressured into repairs that did not solve the problem. Thankfully, I didn't fall for the same sales pitch twice. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Burnside Gold Membership or their repair services. Proceed with caution and explore other options before committing your hard-earned money.

David and his Son arrived and took a look and saw that my unit was 20 years old and out of freon which indicated probably a leak. Asked for a quote on a new system and was quoted a price that was better than what I had been told by others. Asked when they could install, and was told next morning. They were onsite at 8:30 and finished by noon with a complete system replacement. Two gentlemen worked with David and did a superb and quality install. Been up and running and unit is working great and no complaints from my wife or myself. My only regret is that I did not call David 3 years ago when I started having AC issues. Thanks again. We called the company regarding a furnace that had stopped working. It is a small family business…read morenear us, which is something we like to support. They answered the phone on the first call, immediately made an appointment to come out and were right on time. The problem was quickly diagnosed and even though it was a Friday, they managed to get the required parts before the parts store closed and were out Saturday morning to complete the repair quickly. (again, right on time). The Owner and his son came out together and they were polite and kept the house clean as well. Ours is a 14 year old furnace, so getting parts is not always easy.
