Staff was extremely friendly and made the process very easy, it could have easily gotten overwhelming given the amount of choices and combinations you can make. They even let us try one for free which was nice. Granted, we came during what is considered the area's off session, so that made the experience better. This location became our new favorite last year. They make things super easy and safe, you place your order then go to your car and they bring it out to you. The donuts are cooked to order which makes it extremely difficult to exercise any level of self control but calories don't count at the beach right?! My favorite will always be O.C. Absolutely adore this place. This is the first stop my family and I make on our yearly trips to DE. My kids look forward to going back the second we pull out of the parking lot to come home, and talk about it until we make our way back down again. My family love all of the different flavors, but I don't have a problem just sticking to the plain. While the options they give are creative, even just the plain ol' doughnut by itself ranks as one of the best i've had. The fact that they are hot and fresh per order makes a world of difference. The staff at F.P. are so friendly and patient with customers! We ordered a dozen at the counter and waited in the merch room until they were ready, in order to give other customers space to order. Texture-wise, the donuts are uniformly crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside without being super dense and crumby like most cake donuts. Can you get good donuts for cheaper elsewhere, yes. Are these the best donuts I've ever had, probably not. They are pretty good though. And most of the time, any variety of donut I've ordered has been really tasty, hot and fresh. Depending on the day, you might be waiting a bit for your order but not always. Donuts were good. Much better than store bought and they make them fresh, which is obvious. However the coffee is nothing special. They add heavy cream and sugar without asking as well, so make sure you direct them not to if you don't want that. My wife and I came here for breakfast. The inside is pretty colorful, just like the donuts here. We decided to split the maple bacon and I ordered the death by chocolate for myself. It took a few mintes for the donuts to come out, but when they did they were nice and warm. At $2 a donut this is a fairly steep price. Ehhh is the best way to describe this donut. I had a peppermint patty donut and my wife had a chocolate cherry donut which both had a dominating and disappointingly overly fried funnel cake flavor. The toppings flavor didn't come through at all and there was just a sugary taste, even skimming the icing off the top provided the same flavor. My 3 year old daughter did enjoy hers but has no requirements other than sugar flavor. Avoid this tourist trap. read more

I mentioned to someone that I would be in Rehoboth Beach for a few days and their first reaction was, "you have to go to Fractured Prune." Sure, I'll try anything once. I had no idea it was a shop that specializes in amazing donuts. The name doesn't suggest it at all. As soon as you walk in to this particular location, there is an area to enjoy donuts and a beverage (hot or cold). Further in, you're hit with a large selection of donuts. I'll be honest, I was a little overwhelmed. I ordered six: Cookies and Cream, Apple Pie, French Toast, Bacon Bomb, S'Mores and Rocky Shores. Every flavor was good, but French Toast really stood out. French Toast has a maple glaze with cinnamon sugar. I guess I liked that it was much more simpler, yet tasted delicious. The Bacon Bomb is basically the French Toast with bacon added. I recently learned of the location in West Chester, which is much closer than Rehoboth, so I may be making a trip there soon. Hopefully, the deliciousness is consistent at all locations. read more

Was so so sad when this place closed in Rockville town center - so was super excited when we found one in rehobeth! Hard to beat a delicious line up of hot, fresh donuts that are topped while you wait. We had our old favorites - the ms prunella (mixed berry glaze with cinnamon sugar) and the blueberry hill (blueberry glaze and powdered sugar), which looks unnaturally blue but is very delicious and fruity! Our friends had the banana nut bread (banana glaze, cinnamon sugar and peanuts). These sweet rings are made to order so they are hot and fresh. You could draw comparisons to a fresh Krispy Kreme in that it's that same satisfying feeling of biting into a warm sugary donut but the Fractured Prune's donuts are on a different level. These are cake donuts so not the light, melt in your mouth texture of Krispy Kreme. They have so many unique flavors too...their base is a plain cake donut and you can go crazy with flavors and topping from there-- Strawberry Shortcake: a sweet strawberry glaze but no actual berries on it. Morning Buzz had a nice coffee flavor but was probably the sweetest out of all of the ones that we tried. The Reese Cup reminded me of the flavor of a Reeses with the peanut butter glaze and chocolate chips but I think the peanut butter needed to be a stronger flavor and more chocolate chips please! Oh and the lady at the counter was SO nice and patient (while we discussed the verying levels of deliciousness of each donut). This past weekend was my first time at the Fractured Prune and needless to say, I will be coming back for their donuts on every trip to Rehoboth / Lewes / Dewey beaches. read more

First, this place is NOT in Dewey Beach. Its a few miles up the road in between Rehoboth and Dewey. Just be mindful. We spent 15 minutes trying to find it in Dewey :-( DOH!! The donuts are AMAZING! So fresh, piping hot, and they custom make your donuts with fresh toppings. They also have sandwiches too. I came here with 4 friends and we got a half-dozen box of different kinds. Back in July 2018 my parents and I were on vacation in Dewey Beach. On the way home we traveled on the Costal Highway and we knew we had to stop at The Fractured Prune which is perhaps my favorite donut chain ever (especially since they hardly exist in PA so they are a staple of every beach trip in Delaware/Maryland). This location in particular was one of my favorites because it had a large store in addition to a room where you ordered the donuts. I did not get a chance to look around the store as much as I had liked but the donuts were legendary of course. My first visit to a Fractured Prune. I'm a huge doughnut fiend, so I was excited to share a half-dozen with a friend to try a variety of their elaborate flavors. The way it works is they make fresh (hot) donuts, which are then topped or dipped according to the order (eg, the base donut is the same in each flavor). That base donut itself is delicious, made to order, and much better than something like Krispy Kreme (comparing fresh-made). Not quite as dense as a cake donut, but heavier than a traditional yeast-raised. The toppings are kind of over-the-top (pun intended), sometimes overwhelming the donut. Some are also very messy, keep the napkins handy. The flavors skew to the over-sweet (some of them tasting like icing). Staff were quite friendly. There's seating inside as well as some picnic tables outside by the road. There was a coffee area off to the side (pre-made) which looked unattended and lonely. I'd love to see more emphasis on coffee (fresher, in the same area as the donuts, espresso, or something). I'd be happy eating just a couple of the bare donuts (which is one of the flavor options), but more than that is too much same-sweet for my palate. But the available variety makes this place a crowd-pleaser. read more

Never heard about the Fractured Prune until visiting Rehoboth Beach! I thought it was a cute mom and pop shop and didn't realize it was a chain until I saw the other locations. Definitely a place to check out for donuts! Basically, you create or purchase unique donuts that are made once you order. The combos were delicious, the "create your own" always keeps things new, and the service was superb. I loved how they called the customer's number based on a deck of cards. Definitely an experience you don't want to miss! Get there early to avoid a big line because they're popular! Cake donuts are pumped out by a robotic machine and conveyor belt to worker which then hot dip the doughnut into one of their 30ish flavors! Some flavors are great but some just don't make the same "pow" as others. The banana crumble was a little disappointing as it didn't even taste like banana.
