After many years of great service and great food, we had to walk out yesterday afternoon. It was a little after 4 PM, no other customers in the restaurant. Apparently Dave thought it was a good time to train waiters that could not serve alcohol due to their ages. The first fellow had absolutely no clue how to approach customers, and was unaccompanied by anyone to train him. He excused himself. The next young man to the table was also unaccompanied and said he would have to get the Manager to get our drinks. Honestly, what good restaurant management would think putting minors in a waitstaff position where alcohol is on the menu is a good idea? Where was all the adult waitstaff we are accustomed to seeing? Is this a signal that Francesco's is headed in the same direction of other places that Dave has had, down the tubes? Is the new Macados already starting to affect Francescos? We shall see. But we won't be back there until we know things are corrected, if that does occur. read more

We had lunch today at Francesco's in Bridgewater. The turkey and provolone sub I ordered had a distinct ammonia taste to it. On top of that, the service was bad. They had maybe a dozen customers there and at least 3 servers. When we got out bill, we were paying with a debit card, there was a 3% "convenience fee" added on for using a debit card! Wtf!?!? We visited Francesco's last week, on a trip from Massachusetts. We had an excellent server who was knowledgeable and pleasant. The food was great - I ordered the special seafood alfredo and my husband ordered the baked eggplant parmesan. The calamari appetizer was superior in texture to most restaurant's. We hope to visit again in the future. I was encouraged to see Greek trends on the menu. Next time I would like to try the souvlaki. read more

I ate here on Saturday October 16th with my girlfriend who's a Bridgewater College alumni after the Bridgewater Homecoming football game. The restaurant seems to be a little dimly lit in the area you come in at but our dining room was lit enough. I don't remember her name but we had a very friendly female African American server. Not only was she friendly but attentive and kept drinks refilled. We both ordered manacotti and this place uses crepes instead of manacotti shells. I picked out the spinach but otherwise the manacotti was good as well as the salad. I just wish you got more dressing. The server brought garlic knots when we sat down and those things were addicting! My girlfriend ordered us a cookie skillet for dessert. That too was addicting! I can see why this is my girlfriend's favorite spot in Bridgewater. I will make sure I come back with her! read more

Absolutely lousy service, not fun to get forgotten repeatedly. Charged extra for a Caesar salad instead of a regular salad. Charged for items not ordered or served, separated fettuccine tasted like scrambled eggs. Asked us if we wanted bread, but didn't have clean baskets- served after the end of the meal. read more

Every time we drive through the 81 corridor to visit family, we make a point to stop along the way at a winery or two for a quick break in the trek. Bluestone Vineyards is one of our favorites, so we'd stopped there for a half and hour or so and then needed a quick bite before heading back home. We passed this cute little place on our way to the winery, so decided to double back and check it out. From the outside, I expected a tiny quaint old-school looking place, but inside was bigger than I expected and far more modern. They have a nice bar layout and a beautiful dining room with a fireplace. Our waitress greeted us promptly and put our order in quickly. On point - she brought out an order of *huge* garlic knots, some milk and sliced cucumbers for the kiddo immediately after we ordered. Always awesome to get the toddler eating first! We both ordered salads and decided to split a pasta dish. Man, am I glad we did that! The salad - which I assumed was a side salad since it was only $3.50 - was an ENTIRE PLATE OF SALAD. Like a full on entree of salad. Same with partner's. Then the pasta came - a veggie tortellini in some kind of white wine cream sauce. The sauce was a little on the bland side, but I liked it - especially with the wilted spinach and tomatoes in it. Again, the portion was huge so splitting it was perfect and we were able to finish it. But man, we left STUFFED. We didn't have to stop all the way back to Newport News! It's probably a solid 3-3.5 on the food end of things - standard Italian fare. But the cute location, awesome service (did I mention the waitress did not charge us for the knots, the cucumbers or the milk we ordered for the kiddo?), and price will make us come back. Seriously. Our entire bill was about $20 and we got full salads and a full plate of pasta (and I even had a glass of wine since I wasn't driving - from Bluestone Vineyards at only $4 a glass!). You just can't beat that. We'll be back again the next time we hit Bluestone for sure! read more

From the outside, this place looks a little dive-y in a good way, but it's really not that great. The menu is standard Italian fare, with enough choices to please everyone.. except the family vegetarian. My choices were either spaghetti with marinara sauce (bo-ring) or a fettuccine alfredo dish with vegetables. I opted for the alfredo, hoping that it would be at least more interesting than basic noodles and gravy. I tried to munch on some of the complimentary garlic rolls as I waited, but they were hard as a rock. As soon as my dish hit the table, the cream sauce started to separate into an oily, greasy mess, and the vegetables were sparse. I packed up my leftovers to be a good sport, but let's be honest, the only thing they saw was the inside of my garbage can. read more

Don't go here expecting to be treated with respect. They screwed up my order and demanded that I bring it in to get what i actually orded. I just had a terrible delivery experience with this restaurant. After placing a lunch order for ONLY a burger and fries, I proceeded to wait an hour on delivery. Then, I called the restaurat to see if he was near, and they said the delivery driver was on his way. Instead, he shows up 20 minutes later; at which time, the restaurant is only willing to give me a discount on my order instead of refunding the amount based on a delivery time of 1 hour and 20 minutes. Please keep in mind that I live 1/4 mile from Francesco's. Although my family typically orders from this restaurant each week, I will no longer be frequenting there. Their customer service in this experience was abysmal. read more
