Started coming here when I had gotten a job in Canton. Fantastic shop; best haircuts I've ever had. I usually see Anthony, but the other barbers have also been great. I don't work in Canton anymore--and am about an hour away--but, whenever it's haircut time, I battle I-95 and get to Frank and Vinny's. I want to share my experience with this barbershop. I was not given the haircut I asked for. The barber simply cut off almost all of my hair length, even though I clearly said I only wanted a very small trim. The whole time, she was chewing gum loudly with her mouth open right next to my ear, which was very uncomfortable. She handled my hair quite roughly, and in every movement it felt like she didn't care about what she was doing at all. There was no attention to detail or effort. At times, it even seemed like she was just pretending to work -- picking up tools and bringing them close to my head without actually doing anything meaningful. The final result is uneven and completely different from what I requested. I've had many bad and strange experiences at barbershops before, but this is the first time I've felt the need to leave a review. read more

I hate to write a bad review, especially for a locally owned small business, but in this case it is warranted. Don't waste your money at this place. I've lived in Canton for almost 4 years, and for a while I alternated between this barber shop and another one in town. I've probably gotten 8 to 10 haircuts here, but I will never ever give these people my business again. Frank has his own opinions about how your hair should look. It doesn't matter what the customer prefers. I've been getting the same haircut for 20 years - pretty standard fade and cut with scissors on top. Last time I went here, in the middle of the haircut, I asked if he could tighten up the sides a bit. He proceeded to completely shave off my sideburns. I tried to explain that I had not wanted him to shave off my side burns, but just wanted my hair shorter on the sides. Then the fireworks went off. The guy raised his voice and went on a rant that lasted no less than a full minute, saying things like "if you don't like the way we cut your hair, then you can find another barber... it's not worth my aggravation for $20..." I would have gotten up and walked out right then... but walking out with 1/2 a haircut would not have benefitted me. Once he finished his rant, he proceeded to rush through the rest of my haircut, visibly fuming, and now with an awkward silence. This was the most uncomfortable situation I have ever been in as a paying customer. It was extremely awkward, and I would never set foot in here again. read more

I only moved to Canton 3.5 years. Frank & Vinny's was recommended to me by a waiter at a local restaurant. It is a good, old time barbershop, with capable and professional barbers who interact with their customers, which is always a good idea for these sorts of services. I have never walked out of F&V's with a haircut that was less than great! That is more than I can say for other spots, in other areas, and past experiences. I usually have my hair cut by the owners, whom I have found to be smart, interesting and talented. I am about 60 years old, with blessing (and curse) of coarse and full white hair. Trust me, I don't end up looking like a toddler, or like a cue ball! I am a lawyer, and usually remind that the idea is to look "lawyerly" (as opposed to "unruly"), and they get it. Mutual respect goes a long way in many personal services, and I believe that customers who don't subscribe to that should not be acting as guides for those who wish to make a good and professional choice. This place is busy, and frankly they should not be expected to run through of all their different services and respective prices, much as a busy restaurant should not be expected to stop working and recite their menus and prices. And the reason for the 4 star rating is to indicate that I have no relation with or investment in this customer, and if you need a hairdresser so you can be a super male model, you shouldn't be going to old fashioned barbershops anyway. Never going back here again. Got my hair cut from Jesse and he rush it. He really mess up my hair. One side he push way up so no I have holes in my hair and other side is long. He rush it for a client he has at 10 am and he start my hair cut at 9:55 am. 5 minute hair cut for 30 dollars. Not worth it. I went to another barber to had it fix for another 30 bucks but my hair is short and ugly. Never go to this place if you want a fast crappy job. He shouldn't even cut my hair and let someone else do it. I won't be coming back. I will never recommend this place to anyone anymore. read more

It's nice to see an old-school barber shop still exists. Frank is my barber and from the great conversation he provides I understand the shop was originally his father's and was passed down in the family. Frank has a freakish talent for remembering names and cuts, so, although I have only been in the Neponset Valley since June, Frank knows my name and he knows the way I want my hair cut. You can tell during and after the cut that you aren't dealing with amateurs like you find at all of the chain hair stylist establishments. If you can remember what it's like to see a real barber, you're going to want to make your way to Frank. If you're too young to remember, it's about time you learn. read more

Always friendly staff and little waiting time if any at all. Owner always very welcoming and remembers his customers. Been going here about 7 years and never had an issue. I typically try out any barber available and had luck with almost all of them. Many of the same staff there since I started going. But even newer staff has been great. They keep the place clean and have plenty of TVs to watch as you wait and cut. Parking is easy in and out. Hours are also very good even when I need to go after work around 6pm. read more

I go back over 20 years with Frank and Vinny I started with Frank Sr then to his son Frank Jr and now the grandson Anthony. After moving to Florida I have grown to realize that I have been blessed to have a great barber. So far in Florida I have tried more then 10 barbers only to accomplish an ok haircut. Upon every return trip to Boston, my haircut with Anthony is the top priority. I couldn't be a happier customer and I highly recommend you go here. I've been going here for about 8 years. Frank is hands down one of the best guys around. A true gentleman. I have the pleasure of having Née cut my hair. She is amazing and if I hit the lottery, I'm putting her on salary. Her stride for perfection is unreal. All barbers like Jessie, and frank are amazing, but Nee is my go to or I'll come back. I created a yelp account just to leave this review. Worst hair cut of my life. I had the same experience as Charles B. below with the older blonde woman. She literally does not know how to cut hair. I asked for a fade, 2 on the side, and trip the top with scissors and showed her how i want a side part on top. She legit just shaved the sides all the way to the top of my head, and then trimmed the top with scissors as short as she could. No fade whatsoever. Not enough hair on top for a side part. Shaved the sides way too high. If you are not a 5-10 year old boy, do not come here. read more

I had a lineup done and a #1 fade as well. All I got was a complete cut at #1 with no fade and a botched lineup that I have to go get fixed at another barber shop. My hairline is crooked, and my forehead was off-center. The women who cut my hair (an older, blonde woman) is not capable of giving a good haircut. She straight razored the back of my neck, and didn't apply after-shave after, so it burned the entire ride home until I could take care of it. The worst part is (and it's my fault) this is the second time this has happened to me there by the same barber. I am sorry, but her employment needs to be reevaluated. She is not quality. read more

To be honest I haven't gotten a haircut this bad in while. My bangs look like they were lined up by a ruler and cut all at once, and the sides of my head are hilariously uneven. The guy who cut my hair spoke such broken English that he had to call over his brother several times throughout my haircut to translate for him. All the people who worked there were nice and friendly, but it was very awkward and uncomfortable to have my hair cut by someone who couldn't understand 90% of what I was saying. read more

Having a good barber is an essential element of the sense of "home" and at Frank and Vinny's you'll find one. It's true I've had a few mediocre cuts from there, but I wisened up and see only Yassine now who is detail-oriented, kind, and a true artist who understands the way hair grows. So long as I live in the region I will see him and if you decide to do the same, tip him generously because he truly deserves it. Also, the ones who gave me 3-star haircuts seem not to be employed there anymore. There are certain elements of the shop that could be improved: it's long overdue for a makeover, they need to play something other than the Golf Channel on at least one of the 4 or 5 screens, and most of all they really should start accepting credit/debit cards (I would easily be inclined for up-sells like shaves if it didn't mean a schlep to the ATM). I don't think they sell product either which is too bad. Despite its superficial downsides, it is absolutely worthy of a 5-star review since at the end of the day it's about the haircuts, which are truly top-notch. read more

I've been there a few times in the past always a walk never had to make an appointment which I really like and have always had a great experience and was really comforted by the same familiar faces, until my last visit. I got my haircut by someone I am assuming is rather new, seeing how I've never seen her there the handle full of times I've gone before. (Normally Frank has always been the one to cut my hair) Not only was the tension between her and her co-workers very awkward she continously made snide remarks about them under her breath and gave a few sneers to Frank leaving me to feel uncomfortable. The haircut wasn't what I asked for (shorter than what expected) and when I tried to bring it to her attention she acted as if I was a bother and made a comment that she had a customer already waiting. Not to mention she had a pungent scent of cigeratte smoke. Therefore I would not return again. Unfortunate one bad experience out ways all the others. read more
