Rude and unprofessional people. Arrived a couple minutes early to get a hair cut with Kohl today. She was at the reception desk with her previous client so I sat myself on the couch but she smiled at me as she saw me walk past her. I was expecting her to come get me when she finished but instead I watched her usher another woman back to her chair. It's one thing to wait a few minutes because your stylist is finishing up with the previous client, but to have your appointment given away is inappropriate. Furthermore, neither Kohl nor the receptionist came to me to explain why this would be happening. I had to approach the receptionist to ask why my appointment was not being honored. The receptionist said it would only be five minutes (and we both knew she was lying) but after waiting 15, I glanced back at Kohl's chair to see that it would still be awhile. The lying receptionist and Kohl's rudeness were appaling. Completely disrespectful. I've been going to Frank + Lola because it's in walking distance from my house, but the quality of the haircuts are too mediocre to put up with unprofessional behavior. read more

I have a new baby so haven't had a chance to do anything nice for myself lately. I did a quick search and found Frank + Lola and I'm so happy I did! I made an appointment for Saturday with Nikki. I was surprised and delighted that there was an opening and wouldn't have to wait too long. She was really sweet and gave me exactly what I wanted. This review should have happened about a year ago, but better late than never, right? I went to Frank & Lola's last June, worked with stylist Eli Romero. GREAT experience from start to finish. I had decided to donate my COVID-hair and Eli was knowledgable and experienced with that. He knew to section my hair into 4 ponytails...I thought it would just be one big ponytail so I was glad he knew what to do. Before he began he asked me what I was looking for, listened to what I had to say, and got to work. I LOVE my haircut. Hard to believe this magic happened in just an hour. I think it makes me look much more sassy, which is a good thing in my book:). And in the almost-a-year since the haircut, it's grown out perfectly! Frank & Lola's is located in a lovely part of Piedmont and the salon is adorable. Parking wasn't bad at all and there are a lot of cute stores & restaruants in this part of town. I visited this salon about a month ago and had such a great experience. The environment is very upscale, but the staff are very helpful & welcoming. I came in for an appointment with Nikki who was very kind throughout the appointment. I came in to get my hair braided, which I don't think is a common style done at this salon, so it was exciting for all the stylists and customers to see. Nikki did an amazing job, taking her time and offering me breaks to run to the store when I was starting to get hungry. They also have coffee and snacks available in the salon, which was perfect for our long appointment. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience and can't recommend Nikki enough! read more

The salon is a great location. I love my ritual of a Saturday morning solo coffee date, haircut with Eli, then browse the nearby vintage shops. Eli is the best. I usually message him on IG directly to book appointments, which is super convenient. I'll message him a few inspo pics the day before, and now that he's been doing my hair for a while, he gives good and honest advice. For example, some recent photos I shared would require a lot of maintenence with my hair type, so he helped me adjust the layer lengths to work for my hair and the level of effort I prefer when doing my hair (read: extremely minimal effort). He massages my temples when he washes my hair and makes my heavy ass mane feel weightless. He's great with curly/textured hair (for reference, I have very thick hair with loose waves on my crown and very tight waves on the back of my head but he has curls himself and his other clients have a variety of curl types.) Really great experience here. My stylist moved out of state (and left some big shoes to fill because she was amazing) so I was in search of a new salon; after a lengthy search for a new stylist and much scrutinizing of client photos, I came across Linh's work and decided I wanted to take a chance on her. I went to Frank + Lola's site and made an appointment really easily for the following Saturday, just a handful of days from when I made my appointment. The salon is beautiful, modern, stylish, airy, and bright, with a ton of natural light streaming in from the walls of windows. It's located on an upper floor, giving you the bustle on Piedmont below to watch while you get your hair cut. Linh was so nice upon meeting her and took the time to ask me for photo examples of the kind of cut I was looking for, and she then studied the shape of my face and texture of my hair to determine which cut and how many layers would work for me. I have a lot of long hair but it's on the thin side, so she went with more layers in the front than in the back so as to not kill the natural volume of my hair. I prefer my hair long, so she cut off the dead ends while still maintaining the length I wanted, giving me long layers that gave my hair some body and movement. My cut looked great in the end and I was really satisfied with Linh's work. She's officially my new stylist and I'm looking forward to my next cut with her. read more

Really hate to do this, but a year later, I've lost SO much of my hair. The double bleach session caused my hair to shed chunks for months after, and now I literally have bald spots in my hair and wear a hat most of the time. I'm taking hair supplements to try and get my hair back. If she had paid close enough attention to the photo of what I wanted the first time, and made sure the toner was evenly spread to ensure I didn't have blotchy hair, she wouldn't have needed to bleach a second time within a 24 hour period. I'll never bleach again. I'm now talking with local stylists who can give me extensions until my hair grows back. read more

The space is beautiful and in a great location. Everyone is nice and good vibes all around. But I had my hair colored by Nicki and I cannot recommend. I asked for rose gold and my hair turned out orangey-pink. I complained and she agreed and did it again, the 2nd time admitting she would not be able to get me the color I wanted. I left after many hours and a lot money spent with a strong deep pink hair and full of regrets. Maybe she's just not as experienced with this type of coloring so thought I should share. Eli is a master with the scissors. I've loved every haircut he has given me. He has a great sense of how to shape a haircut to fit your facial structure. I just wanted a cut as the blow-out and light styling is included in the price. They temperature check at the front and keep everything very sanitized. I'm so enamored with my new cut and this salon. Linh was the absolute sweetest and gave me such a great cut. I walked out of the salon with the evening sun hitting my hair as I bounced down the steps feeling completely renewed. Linh has an amazing talent, I can't recommend her enough. I got my hair cut two weeks ago and haven't stopped getting compliments. Friends will look over at me in a room and tell me that once again my hair looks great. Coworkers are debating getting their hair cut in the same style. I can honestly say this is the best my hair has ever looked. I'm a bleacher and my hair can be hard to tame. Evelyn does my colour beautifully and without unesecary damage. She is gentle and very knowledgeable and lovely to chat with. Linh cuts my hair and amazes me at how good it feels when she's done. My hair is also extremely thick and wavy (not the easiest mess of hair to work with). They both make it seem easy, total professionals. She's a true artist and has the ability to make your hair looking beautiful without looking overdone. She's also a really sweet person. My last haircut (at another salon) left my long, layered hair totally butchered. It was a mess. I saw Linh for the first time yesterday and could not be more impressed. She identified the problem and was confident we could fix it. She gave me a beautiful haircut and I'm beginning to feel like myself again after tying my hair back for months. Arrived on time to my appointment and came upon. Busy salon and no one sitting at the front desk. Waited around until finally a person cutting someone's hair told me to get the robe on and to sit on the couch and wait. My appointment was at 12 and the stylist I booked came to get me around 12:15/12:20. She didn't was my hair before cutting and just sprayed down. She didn't speak to me the entire time which was weird but whatever I was there for a haircut. She didn't know how to work with my hair type and butchered in some areas, also explicitly did something to my hair I had even requested in writing prior to my appointment and which she acknowledged at the begging of the appointment. She was halfway done before she realized I had asked her not to do it and I felt forced to let her continue. And to top all of at 1 pm she promptly ended the appointment. Said my 1 hour was up and that she needed to end the appointment. I paid almost 200 and felt foolish having ever booked an appointment at this salon. I should've spoken up and told her I would only pay 75% of her fee since she cut my hair only for 75% of the time she charged me for but by I had no energy to protest. read more

My hair color always looks fantastic and natural. A few years ago, Maggie expertly guided me through a major color transition while ensuring that my hair remained healthy during the process. I've seen Gilbert for color for years. He's great! Listens well and always does little tweaks depending on the season to keep my color how I like it. I've also seen him for a keratin treatment which also came out great, leaving my very thick & weirdly wavy hair much more manageable. I also took my daughters to Gilbert for highlights and they came out beautifully. He was very thoughtful about what would work well for them given what they wanted and how difficult it would be to keep up. On top of that Gilbert is just plain nice. He's fun and easy to talk to.
