What made it different was this time round we had a feel for the exact look I wanted and she executed that look with extremely vibey customer service, good time, and the freshest products from Italy used in my hair for my shampoo and style! This is a really unfortunate review. I enjoyed Bertha's company, and she was a kind person. She's the salon owner and an experienced stylist. Unfortunately, the cut I got was not at all the cut I asked for, in fact, nothing like it at all. I asked for face framing layers all around, but strangely, only the sides were layered leaving the front long and the back blunt. Unfortunately, the back of the hair isn't even, it's longer on the left side than the right. I'll need to go get a corrective cut somewhere else. The cut was scheduled for an hour, and cost $150 including tip, but the service only took 30 minutes, and felt rushed. Bertha checked her phone more than once while cutting my hair. This was a disappointing service and just not the cut I asked for at all. read more

I had a pretty terrible haircut by Bertha. I give her credit for listening to my feedback after and giving me a refund - but to be clear the refund was warranted because she gave me the hairstyle I specifically said I didn't want. I explained to her not to texture my hair because it thins out the bottom too much such that it curls in. She did exactly that. Halfway into the cut I had actually tied to STOP her reminding her that she was over texturing - she ignored me. My takeaway was she didn't listen well or perhaps she only cuts curly hair for old ladies...I dunno but - while I appreciate the refund - it look a solid 4-5 months for my ugly cut to grow out. read more

Bertha is an expert! I found this studio on Yelp and mainly booked an appointment because the studio is conveniently located for me. I'm so glad I did! My appointment was about a month ago. I had cut my own hair prior to coming in, and it looked... pretty bad. I expected the appointment to take some time to fix it up, but I was in an out in 35 min! Bertha spent the first few mins examining my hair type and asking me questions, then expertly cut in textured layers & blow-dried exactly as I'd asked. I was so impressed. A month later, my hair has grown in so nicely and I still get so many compliments! I thought the haircut was reasonably priced ($95 + tip for a women's cut), online booking was easy + sent text reminders, and they had a contactless checkout option which was a nice touch. She is a great and skilled colorist and does all she can to accommodate my style while being concerned about the health of my hair at the same time. I trust her implicitly. I really loathe to give such low ratings but unfortunately it must be executed. Upon entering this salon, I did not get a smile from Bertha Solorio. I had to initiate the greeting. Perhaps it's her acknowledgement of my using a "groupon". However, isn't the purpose of advertising oneself on such websites about attracting and keeping clients? Well, let's just say, Berth-a didn't have that much in mind. Focusing on the reason for having a living social or groupon out there should be priority. Maybe a person is new to the business or business is just plain dry. I would say it's the latter for Berth-a. Anyway, despite my showing her a photo, she gave me every reason to not accommodate my request, although the style/cut was reasonably easy to do and it's been a template I've given other stylists with absolutely no problems. Yet...it was a challenge for this lady. So, I put it in concrete terms, and she was more amenable. There was no rapport built during the consultation or the coloring process. She was silent most of the time, and so was I. After all, I was not the one trying to sell herself (as a hairstylist, of course). Also, I timed her and she shorted me on the amt that she should have allowed my hair to color. 7 minutes to be exact. I don't know why she was in a hurry. She had no clients when I arrived. No clients during my time there. And no clients after I left. She finally started talking to me during the shampoo, but I felt it was superficial and that she was only vying for the tip. Also, I was terribly disappointed (although I did communicate this with her) that she only spent 4-5 min (maybe less) cutting my hair. She should have spent at least 15 min doing a great job because my hair is long and very layered. Then, she didn't apply anything to my hair before blow-drying because it was a bit frizzy afterwards. She assured me that the color looked good, but after my observation, the only noticeable coloring was a limited area in the crown and the length of my hair was not saturated completely by the color. She endeavors to talk like she's a professional, but the results suggest otherwise. I really want to find a great stylist that I can stick to consistently, but a good one is always difficult to find. The 2 stars is for the drink she offered me. read more

OMG! my hair was a hot mess before I visited Bertha. She is AMAZING!
