I appreciate the constantly rotating selection of lagers and pilsners; each visit is a bit different, with five or six selections ranging from light lagers to hoppy pilsners and occasional baltic porters and cold IPAs. Half pours and slow pours are my favorite way to get the full experience at Little Lager. The bartenders are also very friendly and knowledgeable; I enjoy seeing the community they've created among regulars and I've learned a bit more about different beer styles and their serving methods on my stops in. I've personally recommended Little Lager to friends and coworkers, but there are a few things to keep in mind: the small space is not the best for a group happy hours, there isn't a kitchen to serve food (though they do allow outside food) , and there are very few options for non-beer drinkers (outside of a few packaged ciders, wines, and different ways to experience Chicago's infamous Malort). Beyond that, it's a laid-back spot to visit with one or two friends after work or to experience their regular collaborations with local breweries like Perennial and 2nd Shift.
