Pretty busy with a few large groups. Service was friendly and a good beer menu on draft and in cans. Bit of a dive bar but that's why people like it. Oh, Amsterdam. You have my heart! I've been coming here for well over 10 plus year and . have seen bartenders come and go, new beers appear and disappear and changes made to the Biergarten. Despite those things, the service has always remained top notch and I'm guaranteed to get a good seat watching a premier league game! This place has been recognized as THE premier league bar in the city (at least that's what I think). They have a plethora of beers on tap (both inside and outside) and plenty of other beers (including na) vodka, whiskey, and etc. While they don't serve food the new place next door, SmashEm's Burger Bar does, in addition to other places on the strip. Before you ask, yes, they allow you bring food inside, and dogs are welcome as well! This seems like one of the few sports bars in the city geared specifically for all things soccer, but it's amazing to see everyone come together and root for their respective team with no hostility. Nice, cozy neighborhood bar - went here to watch some of the playoff games. Bartender was very friendly and attentive. We stayed for an extended period, so eventually got hungry and they were cool with us bringing in food from a nearby restaurant. Overall just super chill and comfortable place to hangout. read more

You get what you'd expect: a soccer bar with a nice patio and a good drink menu. I like the beers on drafts and the bartenders are chill about bringing food in since they don't sell any. They're also always nice but not like too much in your face. Cocktail type drinks get a heavy pour so pace yourself. No complaints. Cool spot for sure, especially on game days. Flew in from CT this Monday and instead of going straight to the hotel I wanted to watch game 3 of the Euro 2020: The Netherlands vs New Macedonia. I found this spot on Yelp, and decided to give it a try and to order lunch from the Dam BN'er door (also a 4star review). I walked in and asked for coffee. "No, coffee, you can go across the street for coffee." 'No, coffee in a place named after a city in Holland, where people drink more coffee than water?' was my initial thought. "But are you showing the game?" was my verbal response. "Yes, it is on now." Awkward silence... The all of a sudden, a tennis coach-as I was told later, started to talk to me in Dutch. Somehow he picked up my accent, which I thought was lost after 2 decades in the US. The ice was broken... Robert the owner made me an alcohol free mix of juices. And from there on it felt as I was in a familiar place with familiar people. I enjoyed the conversations and the food I ordered from next door, which was delivered by the way. A fantastic place to watch sports, specifically soccer however I did watch a lot of playoff hockey here as well and had a blast! The beer is cheap and they can make full cocktails as well. There's no food here, but you can order from the restaurant next door (The Dam) and have them deliver to you. The inside is a little small and cramped but it's the patio that really stands out here. There are no other soccer bars in St. Louis that compare to the Amsterdam Tavern! TVs everywhere inside and a massive covered patio outside with TVs everywhere. Various games showing at the same time. It's not just a soccer bar. They have other activities on nights and days when there aren't soccer games playing. Enormous beer selection. Full bar. You can order burgers from the Dam next-door and bring them in and they now have another bar two doors down that shares the back patio called Tres Equis where you can buy tacos and bring them in. The drinks can be brought back-and-forth between the two bars, as well. Dogs are allowed outside on the covered patio. Recommend! read more

Something you rarely hear Aimee say: "I really feel like going to drink beer and watch a soccer game." Things Aimee does say, which therefore makes the above statement true: "I reeeeally want to go to the Amsterdam Tavern." I'll stop referring myself in third person now but really, this is a great little bar. It's small, personable, and obviously has a ton of TVs that are usually showing a soccer game which I can appreciate every once in a while. The inside is non-smoking (thank you), the beer lineup is pretty extensive with a ton of local options (including The Civil Life), and the patio is giant. Part of it is covered, too, so you can still stay out there if the weather is bad. Come by after work to relax somewhere low-key or make it a stop on the weekend. This is the place to watch soccer. We headed there to watch the US Womens soccer game. We arrived an hour and a half before game time and were able to grab the last table inside. But they have a huge, covered beergarden out back, and there was plenty of room there even after the game started. The bar area can get pretty packed but the bartenders are keen about spotting you if you are empty. A couple of negatives, the beer was a little warm... I assume the reach-in cooler was having a tough time keeping up with the large crowd. We decided that getting buckets of beer worked better since that beer was kept on ice at the table. The only other thing I didn't like is that the cocktails come in cheap plastic picnic cups. ...but don't let these negatives dissuade you. The fun crowd and atmosphere easily makes up for it. read more

Burgers at the Dan were very good! But when I went to the bar to get a drink for my wife and I the bartender completely ignored me. He looked at me than turned and went down stairs for 5 minutes. When he came back he looked at me than got on the phone. I went back to our table, we finished our food and left. A friend of my wife's recommended the place for burgers and a few of my friends said it was a good place to watch soccer. Well I won't go back to this place and won't recommend it to anyone.
