Some of the best restaurant crawfish. I chose "spicy" and it didn't disappoint. They were too spicy but just great flavor!!! Def get the potatoes with it. This place is quite pricey all around, about 10miles up from victoria in the middle of not much else. You can easily drive by and miss it; but its worth a stop! Other foods we order: crab was good, wish it had more flavor or seasoned butter, Cheese curds are good, Not a fan of beignets; they are nothing like the ones I've had in New Orleans. These were thick and for some reason they filled it with warm chocolate but it didn't say that on the menu. I wouldn't order again. The vibe here is cool tho! It's got a Huge outdoor hangout, just wish the weather was nicer and not so cold and windy the day we visited. Def wish I could've tried one of the cool looking drinks I kept seeing be delivered at tables but we had a 1.5hr drive home with 3 teenagers that aren't mine. You must eat at this place if you live in or near Victoria and want seafood! It was fantastic! The menu is extensive with lots of seafood items. For example they have crab cakes, soft shell crab, snow and king crab, Dungeness crab, fried lobster tails. All type of fish sides and desserts. The place is vibrant, very clean and the service is from very happy people. The bar is extensive. I stopped in for a quick lunch and made friends with the owner. He was by the register as I was asking about certain dishes before driving back to Houston to play golf. He sat at my table and told me the entire story of how he opened the restaurant two years ago serving food he likes. He spent five years in Lafayette, Louisiana where he recalled the foods he liked which influences the menu. I like smoked boudin and he said it's the only way they serve it. So he had someone bring out a link. I asked about the desserts and he had someone bring out some. It is made from a recipe a woman gave to him. It was the first crumple that was crisp, gooey and soft along with delicious flavor of peaches and nut the right sweetness. He was right in saying it doesn't need ice cream (which is why they brought it out separately). My three (most places give you two) soft shell crabs had a light medium batter and great flavor. Mike said 'We take off the shell and clean our crab thoroughly too.' I really appreciated not eating the yellow stuff inside. The asparagus was my healthy vegetable option and the red beans were spicy and chocked full of sausage. It was a meal in itself. The boudin looked like traditional sausage to me. Mike said because the ratio is 2/3 meat and 1/3 rice not 50:50 like most. It was spicy and smoked to perfection. It served as a man air freshener for my rental car that smelled like cigarette smoke. It now had a much better smoky BBQ smell. During crawfish season Mike said you can barely get into the place. I cannot wait to go back and try the other items. read more

Had high hopes for this restaurant. Was sadly disappointed. Girl at the counter was super friendly and helpful, all staff was really nice. But then the food came.....Hubby and I both ordered the sausage & chicken gumbo, I added shrimp to mine for $5.99. For my $5.99 they put 5 cold boiled shrimp around the edge bowl. What?? Who does that?? The bowl vs a cup was small (picture a small cereal bowl) and was filled to the rim. I couldn't even put the shrimp in the gumbo until I ate some of it. The chicken in said gumbo was canned. You can just tell, it has a taste. Gumbo had no seasoning I could discern. I made the mistake of ordering boudin balls....other reviewer was right, gooey and no flavor. Hubby ordered the fried fish platter, Fish had no seasonings was very bland. For a Cajun restaurant, these guys really need to step up their seasoning game. Would not go back. The two stars are for staff only. read more

Terrible experience, they were out of potato's for the crawfish boil and all but refused to substitute anything for them then after ordering a side of red beans and rice and paying for it they then realized that they were out of that too. As we were getting our food they called for last call from the kitchen and the cleaning crew came and truly enhanced the aroma of the food with the smells of fabuloso cleaner. And it was a good thing that we had just refilled our drinks because all of that was taken down as well. Don't believe that I will be making a return trip. read more

We decided to stop for shrimp and were very pleased with this establishment. The food was hot and fresh and very well flavored. I loved the coleslaw. It had a nuanced flavor that was very pleasing. The shrimp were very well prepared and deveined. The Cajun dipping sauce was my favorite while my husband preferred the butter. The fried cheese curds were also a hit. Crawfish are excellent from size to that authentic Cajun taste. The family fun atmosphere is always welcome for a great Sunday funday. If you stop in and crawfish are out of season they still have some of the best dishes a person could eat. Today we had the pleasure of eating at Franklins. I don't know what was better the food or the hospitality! It is evident that they take great pride in their dishes. From the fried oysters and whole red snapper, to the sides; you have to get the spinach! And the grand finale was the chocolate caramel pecan brownie! Went for first time today ... ordered crab cakes ... didn't even recognize them when they were served ... battered and deep fried! No indication of that on the menu or informed when ordering. I don't eat deep fried foods because of a stomach issue, so certainly would not have ordered that item. Husband's meal was just so so as well ... not going back for sure ... drive a few miles to Cracked Crab for really good seafood. read more

Nice option if you're in the area. The seafood boils and fried platters are good. The chicken tenders/sandwiches were less popular with our kids. The chicken and shrimp gumbo is a lighter roux than I usually like, but it was actually very delicious. I would add shrimp next time. The bar has a ton of spirits to choose from and can mix you up whatever you like. Good seating indoors and out. Service is good and friendly. read more

Went there last night, food was good, good service and drinks. My husband asked a waitress to change an extremely raunchy Chanel on the TV directly in front of him, she laughed and walked off. I turned around, as it was behind me, and could see why. It was horrible. So keep that in mind if you don't want to have that in your face or your kids line of sight. read more

Wife and I just visited this establishment Saturday on May 18th she had ordered Gator bites and salad I had ordered mud bugs/crawfish and shrimp sadly to my disappointment they did not have our brand of beer Corona Extra as we sat down in the corner to get our drinks I noticed many dead flies on the window seal how disgusting upon the arrival of our food the young lady brought my order which was completely wrong insisted on arguing with me the order was correct as I had insisted that I had ordered Mud Bugs and shrimp not shrimp and snow crab legs when my wife's order arrived the portion was very small for the price of was set the young lady instructor they would take at least 12 to 18 minutes to remake my order at this point we just decided to get up and leave and go elsewhere even though they were quite busy the service was terrible the order was incorrect and the place unclean and/or sanitized would not recommend this establishment and sadly will not be returning read more

My employment and personal travel has taken me all over the state and many other states so I have eaten in hundreds if not several thousand restaurants. Franklins has it down. We both had the fried shrimp and catfish. Four shrimp and two catfish filets. Both tasted fresh and seasoned and cooked perfectly. My wife had the French fries and I had the large portion of twice cooked red potatoes. The potatoes were very good. They also have boiled and other selections which we will try in the future. You order at the counter and given a number to put in a stand at the table. There are a bunch of tables inside a freshly renovated building and tables outside in a covered area. There was a couple of open tables inside so we sat at one. In just a few minutes a waitress brought our food. Interesting concept instead of you having one waitress or waiter all of them are taking care of everyone in the restaurant as they are walking around. We had very good service. I talked to the owner briefly as he is walking around also making sure everyone is taken care of. From my experience restaurants that have an owner that takes an active role in their restaurant are the best. We will definitely be back and recommending them to others. They are closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday so check their hours before going. read more

The owner is an A**hole!!! We were having a family birthday for my great niece. I order the gumbo. In a party of 30-40 everyone had gotten their food. So I asked about my gumbo and he came to the table and said I would have to wait until next Thursday. I then said well I guess I need to order something to eat. He told me well I guess you better. OVERPRICED, SMALL PORTIONS on the food we did get. I would not spend another dollar there again. The waitstaff was nice but being the owner is such an ass, why would anyone spend their money at Franklin's? The owner was incredibly rude to me, i ordered the gumbo and was charged for it and after waiting for an hour I asked for the second time where it was, he replied with "you're gonna be waiting til thursday then because we don't have gumbo", trying to make it out as if i was at fault. I told him that they didn't say that when i asked if it was on the way, they said they were making it (which i guess was a lie). He then smarted off saying it would "be a good idea" to get up and go order again instead of even offering to take my order since i had no food... never coming back here again. read more
