Well first time here and I'm reborn in TX as the 77962 foodie , anyways this joint is the best . Food is rop shelf quality and the service is quick , staff is friendly and very accommodating. I tried the fried dinner mix (chicken and steak ) and my goodness the breading is not too thick and not too lite either it was perfect crispy , meat inside tender as all get out . They have this Banana pudding that would knock your socks off . And all the food is reasonably priced, nothing felt over priced . It's a quaint little joint. It's been a while since we've been to Victoria and decided to stop by for a CFS. We had a guest who also got the same. All three cooked perfectly, tender inside, delicious coating on the outside. Took a little longer for the order to get to the table, but they were pretty busy and there was a very large number of "pro" eaters there who had two or more entrés in front of them. This is the second time I have tried to eat here. The first time I tried the line was too long so we went somewhere else. This time we decided to wait. Waited 10 min to find a seat because it was packed. That got my hopes up for some awesome food. I figured it must be good if it stays this busy all the time. I got fried shrimp and it was really good. Nothing I'd wait in line for again but it was definitely good. No complaints. The staff are friendly. Taste of the food? 5 stars for fresh food with a home-cooked feel. Not the most flavorful, not the biggest portions, not the best presentation. But straightforward, simple, and filling, YES. This is your place. If you're in a hurry or looking for someplace impressive? Definitely head somewhere else. With a group of 3 adults and 3 kids we waited almost 50 minutes for our food, which, incidentally, feels like a MILLION YEARS with 3 kids. We were unimpressed with the service, and for cleanliness, this is NOT your place. The helicopter moms in our group gave up trying to baby wipe the table after at least 4 wipes came back completely grimy and disgusting. I have been a regular at Double J Eatery since I was about 15. To this day they still have the best chicken fried steak I have ever eaten. I have searched high and low to find a better chicken fried steak but have not succeeded. I currently live in Austin so from time to time I try and find something even comparable to their chicken fried steak closer to me but every place falls short. Their steak fingers are essentially the same as their chicken fried steak cut up and battered individually, so they are recommended if you're not in the mood for the hassle of cutting your own steak. read more

Me and my boyfriend got 2 chicken strips meals and 1 Sprite. The order ran up to be a little over $21. We thought with a price like that, we were going to be getting really big, delicious meals; sadly, that wasn't the case. Each meal had 4 chicken strips (a fair amount), barely any fries and toast. The chicken strips looked very good but had no flavor whatsoever. The fries were soggy and also had no flavor.
