Stopped by franks bike shop to get training wheels installed on my son's bike, he is a big boy so luckily they had heavy duty training wheels in stock. The price was pretty good, $40 for the training wheels and $10 for installation, which is good because there is another shop locally that wanted $75 installed. She took good care of the bike and even adjusted the brakes for us. Their bike shop is well organized and pretty clean. There is always parking available in front of the location. Took our bike in for a tuneup. The bike was working fine. Just needed to get it looked over before my daughter took it to UCSB. Maintenance. Well, the bike sat in the shop for over a week. They said they called but they never left a voicemail. Now my daughter took the bike to UCSB and the brakes were super squeaky and as she was taking it to the campus bike shop, the chain came off the track. That never happened before!!!! EVER!!!! Whatever this bike shop did has rendered the bike useless for my daughter at UCSB over 100 miles away. We now have to pay to get the bike looked at and repaired in Santa Barbara. read more

Really top notch bike shop for all your needs ESPECIALLY the custom bike scene. Josh and Angie are the kings and queens of custom. Whatever you can dream they can make. I had an image of creating a custom 29" BMX cruiser and BOY did they knock it out of the park. They also offer financing in house which makes things way smoother. I took my bike in for maintainer along with my wife's bike for a minor break adjustment. Josh helped me out and took care of both my bikes. Josh is very profesional, knowledgeable, and hard working. He did an amazing job doing the maintenance on my bike! Josh cleaned out dirt and grime that has accumulated for over 4 years on the chains, adjusted both disc breaks, balanced the tires and made sure everything was in top working order. I bought my niece a cool Electra bicycle at REI a few years ago. She rarely rode it and by the time that she started putting that bike to use, her training wheels wouldn't support her weight. They were bent and she kept falling off of the bike. Needless to say, she lost confidence and didn't want to ride the bike anymore. So we put the bike in the truck and asked Frank to check it out! Frank's Bike Shop is located in the city of Downey. It is on Lakewood Blvd, between Florence Avenue and Cherokee. The bike shop is situated in a strip mall, adjacent to Sizzler. There is plenty of parking in the lot but the spaces are a little tight. Anyway, we brought the bike in and explained the situation to Frank. He asked how much my niece weighed and I had a puzzled look on my face. I don't know how much she weighs so I had to guesstimate that she is around 65 lbs. At that point, Frank said that the training wheels were bent because they weren't sturdy enough to support her weight. Therefore he showed us a set of wheels that would do the trick! He said that he could get the wheels switched out relatively quick. The next thing that we knew, he had the bike up on the stand and he began working quickly and efficiently. He was careful to make sure that the bike was properly balanced as well. I also appreciated that he inflated the tires for us at no charge. He basically gave the bike a mini tune up which we really appreciated. Soon after, my niece's bike was sidewalk legal again! We checked it out and saw a major difference in how this new set of training wheels were made. They were solid steel and attached to the frame of the bike. They're definitely sturdier which makes my niece feel more confident while riding her bike. I have found Frank's Bike Shop to be a great choice in workmanship and customer service. I wouldn't hesitate to bring the bike back in the future, when it's time to remove the training wheels. We may even purchase her next bike as well! read more

Took my 1974 Peugeot Bike to Franks to replace the tubes and tires and a general tuneup and cleaning. When I took it there I asked if they can give a good cleaning since the bike had been sitting in my garage for years, the women that waited on me was very busy and on the phone while she waited on me and was not very attentive, she said my bike would be ready in a day or two and I asked them to call me when it was ready. no call! when I called them later in the week the man that answered said yes it's ready, it was something like 3:30pm on Friday, I said I'll pick it up tomorrow, Saturday he said we close at 6:00pm. A minute later the women called me and asked if I could pick the bike up now since they just received 30 bikes and had very little room. I don't normally write reviews, but these people are very busy and have no time for customer's. Anyway I picked the bike up on Saturday and they did replace the tires and tubes. As I walked to the counter to pay, she said to the man present, I still have to clean the bike some, but then she just took my credit card in payment and that was that. There was Another customer in the store that was apparently more important and I just left with my bike. They are probably very good at selling bikes since they have a lot of them, but service, not so much. When I got the bike home I noticed that the bike had not been cleaned and I'm pretty sure all they did was replace the tubes and tires for over $200. They should have told nme that they were too busy to service my bike proerly. read more

Ok well now you are just adjusting prices. If i remember clearly the chain was $15 plus labor $10= 25 I would have never bought a chain for $25! Thats extreme and for it to be of no high or known brand I find it ridiculous. Other shops I had stopped by before stopping at your store chains were 8-15. And the grips were also adjusted on price First you mentioned 10,14-15 and all of a sudden they are 16. So according by to my math total should have been 43-45 max you don't apply tax to labor fee. Again I should have said something but the type of treatment that was given from when I got there to when I began to ask questions changed and felt sucked in from what I was able to observe all of who where there in the store seemed frustrated, annoyed and in no mood to attend to customers. If you are hurt by what I said then I apologize but perhaps you should take it so that you can be better to your future customers. I would definitely not ever go back. Thank you read more
