This location is always shining clean. It's quiet (LOVE to eat in not-so-loud places). Their guys are always friendly and willing to help and the most important is that they're always giving out recommendations. Will be back anytime soon! I got the Plain Cheese Pizza this time.

Frank's Pizzeria is under new management according to the Facebook ads I've been seeing. I decided to revisit for lunch. Parking is plentiful because of their location. They do allow indoor dining, but are limiting capacity and have spaced tables out to reduce crowding. They have a great selection of slices available at the front counter. I decided to go with the Margherita square and the tortellini slice. The Margherita square featured a deliciously sweet tomato sauce, excellent mozzarella cheese, and a thin, crispy base. The tortellini slice was on the greasy side, but the creamy, delicious cheese and crisp, bready crust rocked! Overall, I like the pizza and I think you will too.

Pizza is fine, like many of the other places around. Nothing extraordinary. Large, clean dining room, but table service can be VERY slow. Prices are moderate.

Cavetelli with broccoli. Good garlicky sauce but needed salt.

Stopped by here for a quick slice of pizza before a movie but after taking a look at the menu, the family wanted bigger meals. My husband and son got the pepperoni roll which they make to order. It's served with a delicious marina sauce and the boys loved it. My daughter got the cavetelli with fresh steamed broccoli in a nice garlicky sauce. She liked it but it needed salt. I just got the Frank's salad which was a generous portion of chicken, red peppers, mozzarella cheese, and sundried tomatoes with a raspberry vinaigrette. It was tasty and filling. Service was really good and we'll be back.

We've ordered pizza from them frequently and they do a decent job of it. We've also sat down in the restaurant several times. The wait staff is friendly and attentive- and the few times we've been there with the whole family, they took a little extra time to joke around with the kids and help keep them at ease. The prices are in line with what you'd expect from a local pizza and pasta joint. The decor is probably a little dated, but it has that same kind of charm as you'd get from going to your old-school Italian grandparent's house. The food is good- I wouldn't call it great, but I'd still go back for more. The pastas are obviously not fresh made- and there really isn't anything wrong with that. All the sauces were tasty and the portions were pretty big- including the kids portions- which were not much smaller than the adult servings. I found the sauces tasty and homey. Some of the combinations found in the sauces work better than others depending on your preference. I recently had the puttanesca- which I liked- it had that salty pop from the anchovies and capers without being overbearing. My wife had Gnocchi Juliana- which are gnocchi with chunks of grilled salmon dressed with a little tomato. The gnocchi dish was good in concept but came off a little heavy- the sauce seemed to be very oily. In fact, my puttanesca was on the oily side too- the flavors were there though. I liked the few bites of the gnocchi I tried, but the sauce could probably balance a little better if it was lighter- more like a dressing for a salad than what it was. I can appreciate the effort and thought process behind the dish, the balance was just a little off though. I wouldn't call Frank's my favorite Italian restaurant, but there is enough variety on the menu and enough quality that I'd go back. I'd give them four stars, but I have to ding them a little bit.

The pizza is pretty good most of the time. Buffalo chicken pizza can either be the best I've ever had or not good at all but I'm usually willing to give them another try because they're so close, but now I'm not so sure I want to go back. I AM SO TIRED OF THERE NEVER BEING ANY GARLIC KNOTS. They only make it once a day, if that, and always run out by early afternoon when most people are still working. I usually have to order my food way in advance and ask they don't heat up my knots I can heat up those up when I'm hungry. I shouldn't have to go through this much trouble for freakin' garlic knots. Also today I ordered a buffalo chicken pizza and the chicken is burned, there's not much chicken on it either and the pizza crust looks undercooked. I don't know how one goes about burning one thing and undercooking something else at the same time but they went ahead and did it somehow. I must have went there during amateur hour or something. This place let me down for the last time.

Very under-whelming bland plain pizza. They do have pizza with many choices in toppings but the plain cheese pizza sucks.

The restaurant is small, quaint, and cozy, run by a husband-and-wife team who split their time between Italy and Somerville. The authenticity and care really come through in both the food and the experience. We started with the bruschetta, and it was hands down the best bruschetta we've ever had - we still think about it. I ordered the Paccheri alla Norma, a fried eggplant pasta in a rich tomato sauce, and Matt had the rigatoni al ragù. Both were easily some of the best pasta dishes we've ever had. The service was wonderful, the decor was adorable, and we're honestly still dreaming about that meal. Perfect for couples or small family dinners. Upon entering, each guest is warmly greeted by the host / waitress as family and seated. Each table is served house made bread before the meal. The special of the night, pork rolls stuffed with herbs and cheese was hearty and wonderfully cooked. The plate was delicious, but at around $40 it was a bit pricey for the portion. There was a birthday while our party was dining and the owner led the restaurant in singing a birthday song accompanied by piano and followed it up by playing some classic Italian songs afterwards. The service was wonderful and each guest was personally greeted and thanked upon leaving the restaurant. It's clear that the restaurant is well loved by locals and the owner. If I was celebrating an occasion area I would likely come by.

Parking is in the back in the ShopRite lot, or you can try to park on the street. Somerville has become quite a foodie town, and street parking can be difficult to find. We had a party of five and were seated promptly at a round table, which was nice. We could all chat and see each other. Our server was friendly and professional and answered all our questions about the food. The meals were entree-sized instead of lunch-sized. Alfonso's doesn't allow lunch portions on Sundays. To start, we were given a family-style salad. It was mediocre at best. Boring. Mostly iceberg lettuce, no tomatoes, red onion on top, carrots, and cucumber. The complimentary bread was good, but it wasn't Italian. We were given another basket after we finished the first one. The butter was in those little plastic containers. Nothing fancy. Our entrees were: Dinner Giambotta (mild): Italian sausage, peppers, onions, potatoes, garlic, white balsamic parmesan sauce. Shrimp and Scallop Scampi Scallops & Shrimp Al Limone: Imported Roman artichoke hearts, roasted peppers, and green olives in a lemon butter white wine sauce. Cheese Tortellini Al Forno: Rose sauce, parmesan, fresh mozzarella. Eggplant Rollatini. My daughter had a Mediterranean Mule, which consisted of Figenza fig vodka, ginger beer, & lime juice. She enjoyed it! We all enjoyed our fairly large entrees, and most of us took some home. I would recommend Alfonso's. I've been here before and enjoyed it as well.

The eggplant rolatini was fine, although I think the eggplant was sliced a little thick for the dish. The lobster ravioli sauce was good, but the ravioli itself was extremely thick (the pasta part). It felt like more ravioli than lobster. I was really excited about the tri color pizza, it sounds so yummy with all the sauces! I was disappointed to see that the stripes however are all of the 3 sauces you get. So I felt it really lacked in sauce. What I think should have been done, is thick stripes of the sauce, cheese on top, and then the stripes for the plating. My sister got the pesto pizza and the also complained that there was a lack of sauce. Overall, I think this restaurant is okay.
