Friend and I were craving some pasta and stopped by this restaurant along the street. Their free bread and olive oil was a great starter, and they were happy to refill for us twice. I got their chicken and spinach pasta special, while my friend got a garlic tomato linguine. I wish I got the linguine- the pasta was perfectly al dente, and the simple flavors really shined. I wouldn't recommend the special I had, not the tiramisu, which tasted like it just came out of the fridge. This was a traditional Italian restaurant that had a standard menu with homemade pasta and a few specials. There seemed to be a large party or event area on the left side upon entering and a more casual dining room to the right. The service was kind and friendly as we only ordered appetizers. This was also BYOB. They start with a breadbasket. It came out very hot. It was very tasty. The crust was crisp while the inside was soft and had a nice texture. For appetizers, the eggplant stack ($15) and the Prince Edward Island mussels ($17) were ordered. The eggplant stack consisted of fried eggplant, fresh mozzarella, and roasted peppers with a balsamic glaze. This was solid. The eggplant was crispy and very flavorful. It paired nicely with the mozzarella. The only issue for me on this dish was the roasted peppers. They came out cold and were very thick. It just seemed off when eating the rest of this. The mussels came with tomatoes, basil, roasted garlic, and white wine. There were about two dozen or so mussels. This was okay at best. The sauce lacked flavor even with the thin garlic pieces. The mussels were tasty, but the sauce left a lot to be desired. Will I go back? Probably. read more

Savor in Somerville was a standout dining experience. They started us off with warm, delicious bread that set the tone for the meal. My boyfriend ordered the blackened salmon, which came with rice, vegetables, and baby shrimp--he said it was the best salmon dish he's ever had. I ordered the NY strip steak (it was my birthday), it was NOT that cut of meat, it had no sear and somehow managed to be gelatinous and chewy at the same time - inedible. My husband ordered the Zappa de pesce and really loved it, my son the vodka pasta that he enjoyed. I was so disappointed in my meal, filled up on the bread. I ordered the Mahi-mahi special which was served over pasta. It didn't taste like what I was expecting but still flavorful. The restaurant had an inviting ambiance. Savor was one of the few restaurants opened on a Monday, but it wasn't very busy which was great. For an appetizer, I ordered the caprese which had thick cuts of mozzarella and beefsteak tomatoes, basil, and olive oil, drizzle of balsamic glaze. I am obsessed with balsamic, so I should've asked for more on the side. Everything tasted extremely fresh, but the basil tasted as if it was perfectly harvested. For my entree, I planned to get the NY Strip but made a last minute change when I heard the Mahi-mahi was one of the specials for the day. It was dressed with sun-dried tomatoes, garlic, and asparagus which ultimately won me over. If I ordered it again, I would ask for the pasta to be served on the side. Our server was very attentive and helped us with last minute accommodations to our orders. Savor has been able to be open again, after being affected by the fire on Main St. up the block at King Tut, luckily they were only closed for 3 weeks. I'm sure for Rob and staff it felt like 3 months. We went yesterday, was so nice to see the umbrellas up and outside seating ready for guests. We opted for inside seats, near the windows (always great to people watch) for our lunch "date". Can't even count the number of times we have all eaten here, I personally must have been here 50+ times over the years, (not including showers, rehearsal dinners, repasts, and catering) who knows about the other three? Anyways, yesterday, did not disappoint as in any other time. Maybe the smiles on Rob, Lisa and staff were bigger than usual? Salad's were super fresh with dressings that popped, chicken succulent and shrimp cooked to perfection. The home-made rigatoni was al dente with the best vodka sauce in town. Having two sweet tooth's with us, off-course there would be dessert with lunch! The fluffiest, lightest, most-delicious cheesecake with a thick decadent raspberry sauce on top (I tried half of a bite, amazing) and who can pass up home made cannoli's? This restaurant was NOT good - fake Italian. Not ONE thing we got was good, and the dessert - hot chocolate lava cake - was actually stale. One of the appetizers was canned or frozen artichoke hearts "francaise." Is this a bad joke?? The "zuppa di pesce" on black ink linguini was just average tomato sauce with steamed seafood thrown on top. From a vegetarian's point of view, the food here is awesome!! I've had the wild mushroom ravioli twice now and it's sooo delicious. The flavor of that dish specifically is so well curated and unique - the sauce/reduction is yummy I could never get tired of that taste. Their Main St salad is my favorite, wish they gave that with the white balsamic instead of raspberry but still good. We found ourselves in Somerville for a few hours and decided to have lunch. There were many choices and most had ample outdoor seating. After walking a few blocks and reading menus posted by most of the restaurants we decided on Savor. I started with the French onion soup which was fantastic. This is a soup that I automatically order from any restaurant that has it on the menu and I must say that this is one of the best I've tried. My wife ordered the roasted pear salad with pecans, feta, spinach and grape tomatoes in a white wine vinaigrette. It was very good and a nice portion. I ordered the homemade gnocchi in a pesto cream sauce which was pretty good but strangely served in a soup bowl. It was very rich so I had enough to take home for a second meal. My wife ordered the homemade mushroom ravioli in a marsala sauce. Also served in the same soup bowl. I've never seen ravioli shoved into a bowl before. Both dishes would have presented much better on a plate. The Marsala sauce was not thickened so it was more like a broth and the mushrooms seemed to be cooked a little too long but the homemade ravioli made up for it. Great service and really good food! And it's BYOB! What more could you want? We ordered the antipasta for an appetizer which was a beautiful charcuterie board. For dinner, my husband ordered a chicken and sweet Italian sausage in a lemon caper sauce with potatoes and vegetables. I had the Savor salad (beets, spinach, goat cheese, sunflower seeds with a honey Dijon mustard dressing). Everything was awesome and our waiter was so sweet. We'll be back again soon! Held my daughter's bridal shower here a few weeks ago. From my first inquiry until the shower was over, Robert and Lisa went above and beyond for me to help make the day perfect! Every question was answered quickly and I had many! Lisa was great at helping us with placement of tables and ensuring me that it was the best option for the amount of people we had. The food was absolutely amazing. Our choices were , Cesar salad, MainStreet salad or onion soup. Entree choices were mushroom ravioli, salmon, grilled pork tenderloin or chicken rollatini, all of which were raves about. We brought our own cake, but also had a choice of cannoli, tiramisu or apple walnut cheesecake. Service was great and staff was very helpful at all times. Stumbled upon Savor for lunch and after checking out their menu, decided to eat here for its reasonable prices and decent Italian/American options. Pictures here are the pasta carbonara without peas and orecchiette with sausage, which were $11 and $13 respectively. Also ordered an iced tea for $3. The orecchiette was a bit too soft for my taste and the sauce slightly watery so I'd recommend the carbonara Overall, this is a solid and cozy BYOB spot for outdoor dining in downtown Somerville. My friends and I had a miserable experience at Savor last weekend. The management is a nightmare and the food is not special, the ambiance is out dated and out of style. No wonder most of the restaurant was empty on a Saturday night. There are much better restaurants in Somerville, I would skip this one. The blonde manager had the audacity to come over to our table and complain about the few babies in the group. After giving us a kids menu and high chairs she said this is not a kid friendly restaurant. On our way out she felt it was appropriate to call our group obnoxious and say we should have dined at a pizza place instead. This is not the kind of business I would give my money to. read more

When our original plan for lunch at a different restaurant didn't work out (because of flooding issues), we walked around to see where else we could dine at. Not familiar with the area, we were surprised that most places didn't open until noon. Upon walking up to this restaurant's pretty yellow facade, we checked out their menu posted outside which served Italian & American cuisine. The items sounded good. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left, service was outstanding, friendly and professional. For appetizer we ordered their Kobe Beef Meatballs (3 to an order) which is topped with one of the best ricotta we have ever tasted. Being a little picky whenever it comes to marinara sauce, it wasn't too tangy which is what I prefer. Here is what we ordered for our Entrees: - Chicken Francaise w/rice & vegetables - Chicken Breast w/Portobello mushrooms, sausage, rice & vegetables - Homemade Fusilli Bosco w/bacon, mushrooms in a light cream sauce My husband loved his pasta dish especially with the chopped bacon and he found the light cream sauce perfect and not too heavy. My son dived right into his chicken breast dish. The portobello mushrooms on top of the chicken breast were huge and succulent. I did enjoy my chicken Francaise but found the lemon sauce a little too tart. I read one reviewer complain about the loud pop music playing in the restaurant. Funny, I absolutely loved the choice of pop music that was coming through their satellite music channel. Please don't ever change your station. read more
