I have given this place countless tries, sometimes the pizza is great. 85% of the time the pizza is soggy from grease and falls apart into its soggy mess once its pulled from the actual pie. It is heart breaking because I live so close. I have spent hundreds of dollars here and have been left unsatisfied time and time again. A solid pizza and sandwich place in the cute little town of Manchester, MI. We had a pair of Calzones which are basically pizza turnovers and they were delicious. One of us had the meat lovers and the other the veggie. Both had the right amount and mix of ingredients and the crusts were spot on. The service during the lunch rush was very friendly and attentive despite being shorthanded. We will definitely eat here again. read more

This is the best pizza in Manchester but don't forget the garlic knots. They aren't open on Sundays. Not much is open on Sundays in town anyway. Easy to find, ease to order. Really good pizza. Kiddo likes the small sandwiches they make too. read more

Grabbed lunch in this nice little downtown pizzeria. We opted to not get any pizza however the pizza I saw come out looked amazing. We got a decent helping of the home made Alfredo. Tasted delicious. We also got a 1/2 meatball grinder and soup. The meatballs and sauce are both homemade as well. They had three homemade soup options. The potato soup was excellent!! The dining area is limited to about 4 booths and three tables. Overall very clean. Our waitress was very helpful and we received great service. The menu has not only pizza but some pasta options and burgers. This is a place we will come back to. read more

Overall, the food here is decent, they have a decent burger, pizza, and really terrific sweet potato fries (3 stars for food). I've been going here for many years and loved the small town friendliness, but recently, the service (mainly at the carry-out counter) has been downright rude and even confrontational at times if you end up missing something from your order. They try to make it your fault for any mistake they might make and will literally raise their voice at you in a crowded restaurant (including the use of unacceptable language). After our last experience there, we will never return (1 star for service). read more

It's a nice little restaurant and the food was average, however the portions are tiny. $14 for a cup of cooked pasta, sauce, 2 meatballs and some cheese melted on top. I've been to Frank's, maybe a dozen times, over the last 15 years and I don't think the place has ever changed. The Sicilian bread is still to die for, the service is excellent. One of the best parts is how fresh the ingredients are and the variety! I don't eat meat so any place that gives me options like jalapeno, broccoli, spinach, fresh thinly sliced mushrooms, red onion... has got my number. I wish the Greek salad was a less iceberg, more green. Everything was fairly priced. This place gives me hope for Manchester. I've lived in the area over 30 years. We had the very yummy Sicilian bread (a cheese pizza- good but not necessary) and a thin crust, basil-pepperoni-onion-feta large pizza that was amazing except for the basil, which was, sadly, burned to an un-basil-y tasting crisp (ie hay) in the oven. It is far better to put it on pizza *after* cooking it. They make their own dough and you can taste the difference! Enough pizza for breakfast AND lunch the next day, too. Very disappointed. I researched this place before visiting. The website looked great! Only one waitstaff for the whole place! We asked her if we would be served and get out in an hour. She couldn't guarantee it...an hour for a sandwich? The two cooks were arguing over some personal issue. It was obvious there was no supervision. My meatball sub was just awful. The bun was super dry on the top. The meatballs were dry...very little sauce and the cheese, what there was of it, was melted on the bottom of the bun. Frankly, Subway's meatball sub is 100 times better. I ordered fries, which I played $3 extra for. They looked like they were the bits and pieces at the bottom of the bag of frozen fries and instead of getting a bottle of ketchup, I got a little plastic cup of it. The waitress never came to check on us. And when she gave us the tab, we just left the money, because she was involved with the argument in the open kitchen and we couldn't wait any longer. So my girl and I went for a drive right? We're like "Manchester, that's a town I guess" so we drive through. It's 7:45 PM and there's nothing open besides a couple of divey-looking bars. But then, this glowing open sign is on and we are it "Frank's Place". We park, we go in, there's a staff of cooks working their ass off making pizzas and cleaning, making entertaining conversation. Frank's Place is the best pizza in Manchester - there's no doubt about that. Great taste and quality ingredients make it worth a go if you're in the mood for for pizza. My only knock is the price: it's much pricier than I expected. On my last visit, one small supreme/"super" pizza and one medium pepperoni set me back nearly $32 for takeout, which is quite a bit steeper than comparable non-chain pizza places around the state. Even still, I really enjoyed the pizza and will order again in the future. It's that good. Pro tip: Frank's also sells balls of dough if enjoy making your own pizza at home. read more

We moved to Manchester about a year and a half ago. When we first visited Franks, it was alright but our pizza crust was burnt. After the remodel, anytime we ordered from Franks, the order was wrong or the pizza was very burnt. One time we ordered the tomato butter basil pizza and they forgot the basil. Another time, we ordered a flatbread which we paid for but when we got there to pick it up, they said they couldn't make it because they ran out of the ingredients. They offered to make a similar pizza for an up-charge but since we paid we didn't being our card. They eventually made the pizza for us without charging but we thought the whole experience was odd. The convenience of the restaurant is nice but the prices are much too high for the quality we have received. This isn't Ann Arbor. read more

This place, though small-town small, and quite honestly the only restuarant open in the afternoon, has quite an extensive menu. Pizza, burgers, whole wheat wraps, and basic sandwiches don the menu. I had the grilled tilapia sandwich on marbled rye with tomato, red onion (minus the "white" sauce which seems to be ladled on many of the menu items) and lettuce. It was actually quite good. The salad bar is really where it's at though, here. Beets (love), red onion, boiled eggs, yellow raisins, cottage cheese, and thinly sliced mushrooms are just some of the few yummies on the bar here. I LOVE thinly sliced mushrooms, yes I do. For good coffee, before coming to Franks, go to the Manchester coffee shop a few doors down and order an Americano.. Well, there are very few places to eat in this lovely small town, so this gets a 4th star from me! We went to Manchester for fireworks, and enjoyed the picturesque drive from Ann Arbor as well as the fireworks celebration in town. The food was pretty good at Franks. The restaurant is a bit bare-bones with decorations and ambience... a no frills small town place! The best deal on the menu was the side salad. I had low expectations since it was only $2, but it was heaped with cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce, onions, cheese, and croutons! Yum! I'd skip the icky thick basil vinaigrette dressing and go for something else though. The pizza was good (although we were offered "canned or fresh mushrooms"... canned??! ew!) and a large gave two of us about half to take home for leftovers. Sadly they don't sell beer or wine... that would be a nice upgrade! It's a good spot to check out if you are in town. read more
