Went here after seeing all the great Yelp reviews, and yep... the hype is justified. The pizza was very flavorful, and the ingredients seemed high quality. I'd give it a solid 7.8/10. My only complaint? I wish the crust was a little crispier. But hey, apparently I'm a tough crowd. We also tried the smash burger, and everyone LOVED it. Juicy, cheesy, and seriously delicious. The burger actually reminded me of the old Steak 'n Shake burgers before they changed the recipe. And if you know, you know. Overall, very good food, good ingredients, and definitely worth the stop. I'll gladly defend that 7.8 pizza score , but the burger might have pushed the overall experience even higher. We'll absolutely be back the next time we're in Ann Arbor! read more

Updating my initial review as we've been back over a dozen times (between happy hour, dinner and takeout)! First, happy hour is awesome: 4-5pm + last hour (so 8-9pm Sun-Wed and 9-10pm Thursday thru Saturday). It's half off: draft beers, sangria, starters, house cocktails and wines. Also, I stand by the opinion that DropTop is the BEST Detroit style pizza right now. However, their burgers are also FIRE - that olive burger? YUM! I also am happy to share that the little details from opening - like cold frosty glasses, cold plates for salad, from scratch dressings/sauces, etc. is still on-going which truly makes a difference to the overall experience. Upon arrival we noticed there was 2 hour parallel street parking. We snagged a spot right in front. Be careful exiting your vehicle because it's an extremely busy downtown road with loud, massive semis and dump trucks now that there is a data center nearby. It would be extremely unpleasant to eat on the patio/sidewalk. We were greeted promptly by a friendly employee when we arrived and asked to wait just a moment so they could clear a table. The decor was super cool. The lights hanging above the bar were purple and really neat. The mural along the entire side wall is bright and colorful. The restaurant was clean and tidy despite having just had a rush. The menu had many tasty options. We ordered the Dipsticks with ranch and two Detroit style pizzas: The Skylark and Fries in Pizza. All were delicious. The ranch was drool worthy. When in the area again we will keep DropTop in mind as our overall experience was positive. read more

We wanted to grab some dinner after a game day in Ann Arbor, but we knew the downtown restaurants would be crowded, so we took a little drive to explore Saline and ended up here. The reviews looked fantastic, so we were excited to give it a try. Our server, Trinity, was outstanding. She was friendly and efficient and seemed to be handling the whole place by herself! We started with the Caesar salad, which was excellent, It was difficult to choose from the great variety of pizza options, but we ended up with the Skylark. DropTop is the eat-in pizzeria, burger, and shake joint that you never knew that was missing from your life in downtown Saline. Rattling off that menu list, sounds like this place should be featured on DDD - wings, smash burgers, creative pizzas, and shakes! The restaurant itself is a cool graffiti/car vibe that is on the louder side, but not so bad that I won't take my parents. The food is awesome and I recently fell in love with the Super Sport pizza! My child loves the shakes. :) We have both eaten in and gotten take out. Service has been consistently good. I am loving DropTop more and more with each visit. Some the best pizza! Reminds me a lot of Como's pizza in Ferndale. I was full but keep munching because the flavor was phenomenal. The service was okay but needed to be a little bit more friendlier. I came in right at the end of the lunch run and stayed a good long while just enjoying my meal. It got packed quick. You can tell it's a very beloved place. So we came in for HH and all the beer and cider taps were not working, but their tap take-overs were working--the problem was that the beer was warm and were not covered under HH price..although it should have been since their whole system was not working. So then I decided to get a HH cocktail under the house cocktail menu-- but the one I wanted was not included in the HH price. When we walked in the front, they kindly guided us around to a separate side entrance for takeout, which was a nice touch. They offer some really interesting topping combinations. The Detroit style pizza at Droptop is some of the best I've had. Generous toppings, amazing crust that's not too thick, and a sauce that has just the right amount of spiciness. I had the Super Sport Pizza and it was outstanding. The rest of my family did the BYO pizza options due to gluten and dairy sensitivities and said the crust was the best GF crust they've had, and were stoked to be able to have it Detroit style! We also tried the Motor Oil Wings and they were excellent! Nicely sized wings and a good portion. The sauce was rich and umami just as described on the menu. I loved the dedicated "To Go" area in the alley behind the restaurant, close to the parking lot; not having to go inside the main area to fight through the people (it was crowded the night we ordered), was a big bonus. The staff working the to-go counter was friendly, fast, and helpful. We ordered online and everything was ready exactly at the promised time. We will 100% be back! read more

One of my top two favorite restaurants in Saline! Unbelievably delicious smash burgers, salads, regular and gluten free pizza. The GF pizza is the best I've ever had. DropTop Pizza did not disappoint. Chef and owner, Joe Maino, opened DropTop in Saline alongside Jason Branham in the fall of 2024. Joe Maino worked under the late Shawn Randazzo at Detroit Style Pizza Company. In 2012, Shawn Randazzo was named "World Champion Pizza Maker" at the International Pizza Expo, so it's safe to say Joe Maino had a good mentor. Be warned, there will probably be a wait to dine in at DropTop during peak hours. The seating arrangement is a bit tight. I sat at the bar, and actually preferred that. The service was efficient and polite. To start, my wife ordered a margarita, and it was about what you'd expect. As for our appetizer, we ordered the pizza frita. This is a basket of fried Detroit-style pizza dough. FYI, there's a dessert version of this on the menu, too. I typically prefer ranch as my dipping sauce, but the marinara here was delicious. I enjoyed the pizza frita, but think I would've preferred the dipsticks (cheese bread). I was tempted by the fried artichokes and pesto wings, as well. For our entrees, my wife got the Oklahoma fried onion burger and I got the queen margherita pizza. The onion burger is a smash burger, and it was legit. The buns are made in house, and the patties were smashed perfectly. As for the pizza, it was one of the better Detroit-styles I've had locally. Like the burger buns, the Detroit-style pizza dough is processed in house. The pesto was a nice touch, and I added ricotta to it because, why not? Lastly, Blank Slate Creamery is located in Ann Arbor, but DropTop is the exclusive distributor of its ice cream in the city of Saline. Single scoops and pints are on the menu, but I opted for a shake. All of the shakes have a "recommended booze pairing." I got the Mackinac Island fudge shake, without booze. Shakes don't typically impress me, but this one was memorable. My wife and I really enjoyed our experience at DropTop, and will definitely be back! read more

Excellent char on the burgers, with plentiful toppings (we had the olive burger, and mushroom swiss, which was a weekly special). Also very much enjoyed the stuffed pepper appetizer. The milkshakes are to die for!! Boozy PB&J with Skrewball peanut butter whiskey...SO yummy! Also loved the strawberry cheesecake shake, and the Oreo mint for St. Paddy's. I just started going to Drop Top Pizza in May, and I instantly fell in love with the food. Unfortunately, my most recent experience was extremely disappointing. I placed an online order for pickup at around 7:00 PM while leaving the airport. The estimated wait time was 34 minutes, which worked out perfectly since I was driving from Detroit to Saline. However, when I arrived, my order--a single burger--wasn't even finished. I ended up waiting in the pickup area for more than 20 additional minutes, making the total wait over an hour for one burger. That was incredibly frustrating. What disappointed me even more was the lack of urgency, apology, or concern about the delay. It made me question whether customer service is a priority. Afterward, I reached out directly about my experience. My message was seen, but I never received a response, which only added to my disappointment. I really enjoyed your restaurant when I first started coming here, which makes this experience even more discouraging. This small town local pizza place is a new favorite. This is the best restaurant that's been in this location since Kelly's left. Our server Benjamin was friendly and eager to help with our questions. My friend and I have some annoying health challenges that didn't even phase him. The frittas, pizzas, fries, marinara sauce, ranch sauce were all delicious. My friend has celiacs and has decided that this is a favorite pizza place telling you that's how good their gluten free pizza is. Their dough is a bit lighter than traditional Detroit style pizzas. Their decor is colorful and fun with bright murals. The floor is checker. It has a slight 50's vibe with a pizza house twist making it enjoyable for a Saturday night dinner. WOW! I've been wanting to try DropTop since they opened, but every time we go by, they're jammed. Now I know why! The food is amazing, we had the waffle fry appetizer, as well as their garlic Parmesan wings. Both were fantastic! I had a glass of Pinot noir, and it was really fresh, two at our table had their special sangrias, and another had a cocktail/spritz. For mains, of course we had to try their Detroit-style pizza, we had the "Joey's Favorite" with the cup & char pepperoni (yum), and the "Skylark". Both pizza's were fantastic, and perfect for sharing! Sabrina was our waitress, and she was one of the best waitresses that we've had in a long time, so thorough, approachable, and just great at her job. The service really added to the experience! We really loved the decor, paintings, photos, and bright colors, tying the whole theme together. If you're in Saline, within 30 minutes, or just driving through, you definitely need to stop by DropTop to get some great food! I was also thrilled to learn about their pickup spot. I received excellent and attentive service from Trinity, who gave great advice when helping me select Joey's Favorite, which is now my favorite as well. Melissa, bartender on Saturday days (if you have service experience you know what this means). A couple (white couple wearing red coats maybe a tool company (?) in their late 50's or early 60's.) came in and were immediately rude to the host . They sat at the bar. It was my first day time trying Detroit style pizza and I was not expecting soft pillowy dough that resembled a focaccia bread for the dough. On to top it off they had vegan cheese. The sauce was nice and not overpowering so the dough and toppings were the real stars. This is a nice clean restaurant with a very attentive staff. We were immediately greated upon entering the restaurant. The chicken sandwich was moist and the bun was fresh. The accompanying salad was a nice mix of greens. The queen margherita pizza is my favorite pizza ever! First of all this is Detroit style pizza. The edges have that nice crunch. However, they put the sauce on the pizza versus on the top. This step is a game changer. I have never had a margherita pizza topped with pesto. It was amazing! I'll be returning! read more
