I visited Frank's Sports Shop on 5/6, not realizing how late it was. When I arrived the employees were pulling the gates down. I made a quick call and the representative said that I have 6 minutes. I rushed in picked up a smaller belt and was ready to go. No time wasting tactics. I appreciate the entire staffs patience with allowing me to purchase one item for $24.99 a pretty good value for a leather belt. What resonated most with me is that, I was in dire need and Frank's employees could have shut the door and ended the sales for the day but they were kind enough to allow a small purchase of $24.99 to end the sales quota. No sales is to small to make a sale, they are a business that provides for its customers, no matter how much you spend. They are there for you, when you need them and that's why I keep coming back. They have uniforms, casual clothes, fishing and hunting gear, and sports equipment. There is not a better place to shop, I've been supporting Frank's Sports Shop since January 2003. Sales people were very helpful unfortunately the owners were rude condescending and obnoxious. Traveled from Scarsdale New York to buy a basketball for my grandson and a basketball hat what a disappointment. I go to pay with my card I asked if they took apple pay they are asking me for my license and to show some type of ID with a picture so I said I left my wallet in my car that's parked around the block in one of the worst neighborhoods. The woman takes the basketball from my hand and the hat and puts behind the counter like I was going to steal it insane transaction totally unacceptable. Don't shop here not worth I went out to get my wallet and returned back and paid for the items lucky for them I promised my grandson I would come back home with a small basketball if not I would have left and never return to such a horrible store !! Horrible Place! Customer service is disgraceful, they have a lot of things but with that attitude, makes the place horrible to shop for.

My husband went in to buy uniforms. We accompanied him. My daughter has a federally licensed service dog papers and card up to date and the lady in there said we were not allowed in so we waited for him in the car. When my husband was paying my daughter had to use the restroom so the polite gentleman that was ringing him up said it was okay for her to go in and use the restroom. When I took her in the extremely rude and non courteous lady in there said she wasn't allowed to use the restroom. So we left and took our business to varsity uniforms. read more

I love giving my business to mom and pop stores but THESE GUYS ARE THE WORSE. I used to shop there, renew my hunting and fishing licenses, NEVER EVER have I successfully renewed and gone my way, always an excuse, "machine is out of service but shop around and we'll get if fixed in few min, or the license guy is out on break, he'll be back in few, just shop around, machine is out of paper, please shop around till we get the paper", just to make you shops there, these same constant lies pushed me and many of us who whent there away from this shit hole. What killed it completely was one of the most recent experiences, my nephew bought a few duck stamps, they stiffed him with last season stamps, when he realized they gave him the wrong stamps, he went back, they told him sorry no returns, we registered them as sold, what????, and worse of all, they told him, you can still use them, they're still good, fucking crooks they are, he had to raise hell to get his money back, wasted hours of his time for a simple refund on their mistake, or purposely done so he can "SHOP AROUND". Their loss anyway, many of us used to shop there, no one will step foot there again. read more

i cant believe this place is still around as its been years since my last visit.i use to get clincher softballs and fishing tackle back in the day as franks sports shop was the place for football, baseball, basketball, hockey. soccer , and other sports equipment and acessories. they also had fishing equipment and gear which was a bit cheaper then city island. i remember getting a rams and laker jacket a bunch of years ago and i didnt really care for the lakers but the jacket looked cool. its funny after all these years they didnt move to the burbs or close up shop but i guess staying in east tremont (bronx) is worth it . got my warriors cap for my cuz and yankee jersey for my other cuz and its time to hit the road. glad you still here frank. read more

I was in a dire need of some football cleats for my son. We were in a crunch for time and needing something ASAP. My son waited until the last minute to tell me he wanted to play Football. So his size 13 in men's were hard to find. Dicks Sporting Goods and no one online had them in stock. My friend referred me here and although it wasn't exactly what he wanted ( as far as style) they had his size and the price was very reasonable. I had an absolute great experience with Frank's. I was told about the store from a friend when I was looking for a Canada Goose. I looked online and saw that they had the coat I wanted. Eli was such a great help. I ordered online and paid over the phone. When I was ready, I picked it up in the store and the coat is GREAT. Every time I called, she was super helpful and understanding. this sporting goods place is really a horrendous spot to patronize if you have to get things done in a timely fashion. i purchased a jacket on money i was told it would be embroidered with the 9 letters of my last name by thursday. i went to pick my jacket up 3pm thursday only to find that the jacket was not only not done but that folks doing the embroidering was leaving for the day some 2hours earlier than normal. i needed to be be in uniform with full embroidery done on all long sleeves by 6am friday and was told at the time of purchase that it would be done. its why bought it there . its not a pleasant feeling to be told one thing and to be presented something totally different. seeing how care and courtesy was being extended to my pals who went to "VARSITY" in the castle hill section, i felt under valued and downright insulted by franks inability to value me as a paying customer. franks is one of only two locations that my job wants us to go to purchase our uniforms so they are well aware of the time sensitive nature associated with our uniforms. i spent over $600 on my uniform package and as of this writing i'm still waiting on something i paid for. i would recommend you go to VARSITY if your in the bronx area or the many other uniform shops throughout the city. this spot is a waste, the selection is real sparse and the customer service is almost military an nonconforming from the minute you enter the door. you do not feel comfortable to browse at all. if i had known of the other place first i would be no where close to tremont and this dreaded place. save your commute, time and peace of mind. look elsewhere....ps. im getting for what i paid for read more

I was wandering by last week like a dog without a bone or an actor on a loan or a complete unknown, or a rolling stone. I see a few new futbol (you say soccer) jerseys and since I had some time to kill, I figured I'd see what they had in stock. Maybe I'd buy one an add it to my collection. I walk in and nod to the security guy as I go by him. A few steps further, I see a sign. It says I have to check in my bag. I go back to the security guy. Now, usually when one checks in a bag, there's usually shelves or some compartment by the wall where they are placed. Didn't see such a thing. I ask the security guy where I check in my bag. He tells me to go around the corner into the next part of the store. The place is as crowded as a hoarder's attic so i make my way past the various racks of items. I look around but don't see any place that could potentially be the place to check in my bag. I go up to a counter and ask the man there. He keeps saying, "What? What?" Now, I am quite aware that I'm not the loudest talker so I raise my voice. The guy then admits that his hearing isn't too good. Okaaaaay. He points me to another guy who's getting a baseball jersey for another customer. I ask this other guy were I have to check my bag. He tells me that it's in the front. So like a schmuck, I wander back. Clearly, I have to go back to see my opthalmologist and get an Rx for new lenses. I go to a counter there and ask where to check my bag. You know where that guy directs me? To the frickin security guard! Yes, the first guy I asked! I go over to the guy and hand him my bag. I should have asked him why he sent me on a potentially 40-year frickin' journey through the crowded wilderness that is this place but it would likely have only resulted in me getting angry. The guy takes the bag, places it on a shelf that's below knee level, gives me a ticket, and mumbles something under his breath. Hey, Sunshine! I asked you a simple question. I speak a few languages and I'm fairly sure you would have understood at least one of them had you indicated that you didn't understand me the first time. No need for attitude. Having a bad day? So was I but I don't take it out on everyone else. I go look for the soccer jerseys. They have about 3 racks of them but some of the jerseys have names and/or numbers on them. Unfortunately, a lot of them are not official lettering so be on guard if that's what you're seeking. They had quite a few shirts from past years and they were up to 50% off. There were a few jerseys I would have purchased had they not been L or XL. Oh well. The place seems to have a decent selection of baseballs hats, jerseys, and American football shirts. Just be sure to bring a compass (I think they sell them here) a map, and some rations so you can find your way out when you're done. Otherwise, you'll be going around in circles. read more

About twelve days ago I purchased a very expensive sweater from Frank's online store. After noticing it hadn't shipped, after over a week of waiting, I called and only got an answering machine. That was Friday afternoon. I left my name and number and no one called back. Today I got an email that rather abruptly let me know the item was sold out and that my account would be refunded. Which would have been fine if that had happened a day or two after the order. Instead I suspect I would have merely never been given my money back or heard a peep without contacting them directly. I'm not angry that they didn't have the item, though they shouldn't allow consumers to purchase items they don't have. I'm more upset that the time it took them to address the issue was nearly two weeks and required me calling them. I wouldn't feel comfortable ordering from them again. The item I was looking for is hard to find and I assumed that since they advertised it they actually had it. EDIT: I feel the need to address the comment below. I looked through my email in good faith, even my spam folder, and had no messages from Franks between the time I placed the order and the time it was cancelled. I never had a voice mail from them whatsoever. I would now say definitely stay away if they are willing to lie rather than apologize. This is the customer service you'll get. For that matter, if they noticed so fast and constantly attempted contact me...why did it take me calling them to finally get a refund? I came all the way from Manhattan to buy a rain suit. The owner had the nerve to treat me like I was a mother fucken thief because I tried on a belt and when he told me there was a mirror right here where I can see the belt I said where is the mirror he turned and said you have to go over there and buy it 1st then try it on so I put it back. Nowhere in the world have I ever heard of buying something and then trying it on. When the God came out with my stuff I told the guy he don't want me to purchase to stuff he wants me out his store because I told him I've never been treated like a thief I showed him over a $1000 in my pocket and he still insisted that I was trying to take the $14.99 belt. Don't go near this shop if you are looking to produce custom gear for your team! My non-profit local running team had an awful experience years ago when the shop screen printed our logo in an unacceptable/unwearable result and would not work with us to fix it! Horrible quality control and NO customer service. It was a one way street! The Sport shop of old still survives. Franks is a homey, yet professional sport shop in east treamont. It may be off the beaten path, but they truly work with the customer to procure the best equipment possible. I have used them for over twelve years. They give kids great deals, almost 40% on designer baseball equipment and they throw in freebies for all non-profits/schools/ youth orgs. If they don't have a piece of equipment or a competitor is selling it cheaper, they will procure it ahead of time and in some cases lower their prices.
