Really great customer service here. I went to Fleet Feet and Super Racers (also in UWS) to look for new running shoes, and I found Fleet Feet to be so much more helpful. Charlie was the one helping me, but everyone else seemed just as knowledgeable and understanding of specific needs/preferences. They really did seem to focus on helping me find the right shoes for me rather than selling me shoes and insoles. They helped me as I tried on different shoe sizes and different insoles, and I got the impression that it was fine if I didn't find a pair that I liked. Their foot scans were done more thoroughly too. I didn't actually end up buying anything from the store because they didn't have the model or color I liked, but I definitely will be returning and recommending this place to others. read more

We had a delightful experience at this JackRabbit location. Our salesperson was very fun, chatty, and knowledgable about the shoe products. I tend to find JackRabbit's prices a bit on the high end compared to those of other stores in the city that specializes in running products. Similar to many running stores, you have an opportunity to run on a treadmill to ensure that you have selected the correct shoe. At the time of our visit (mid-July), only eight people were allowed in the store at one time because of COVID regulations. Hours have changed to closing at 7pm and not 6pm! I dashed in mid week to buy a new pair of running shoes thinking it closed at 6pm but then found out I had more time. The woman who helped me with choosing the right size was patient and understanding. I was going between a 10.5 and 11 and she helped me figure out what felt best. I'm in my 60 s and every time I'm there, I'm ignored while the young women are served first. Yesterday, I was finally honored with service. I wanted to try on yellow running shoes. The you g man salesman told me I couldn't buy the yellow running shoes because I'm not a racer. When I insisted to try on a pair, he told me they didn't have my size. Great service! I came in here a week ago after having the worst luck picking out running shoes the past two years. I finally decided to get "expert" advice from people who sell them for a living. Jonathan was super helpful and friendly, asking about my running history and habits, and listening to my concerns. After measuring my feet, it turns out that they are far bigger than I realized, and that I had been choosing sneakers all these years that were too small for me. Color me surprised! After finding me a suitable pair that complimented my measurements and arches, he recorded my run on the treadmill and we were able to fine tune further for the perfect shoes. One of the worst ways to show quality customer service is to trash talk other employees/subordinates in front of customers. I went in today to buy a present for my husband, and as I was checking out, the manager (I believe it was the manager) was speaking to one of the customers saying he was going to fire someone today. How does that make your store look good? In addition, I was trying to split my purchase between cash and my credit card and one of the lady cashiers didn't know how to do it--so she asked her manager who came over in a huff and questioned why I wanted to split the payment. After telling him 2xs, and watching him speak rudely to his subordinates I decided to take my business elsewhere. Word of advice--when you're competing against companies like amazon, one of your only differentiating factors is human interaction...and it better be DANG good. Every customer should feel 100% comfortable in your store. Keep the trash talk and ill feelings for behind the scenes. No one wants to see that drama. read more

I keep going back to Jack Rabbit for one reason. They have impeccable customer service. I haven't been to this location, but I knew they would be able to help me. Initially, I tried to re-order my trainers online through their website, but I couldn't for the life of me remember the name of my shoes. I just know that they are a pair of Brooks and they have served me well. But if you can remember the name of your shoe, they will gladly send you a pair of your running shoes after you fill out the application online. Very convenient for busy people! I came into this store on a rainy weeknight and there was no one in here. I was immediately greeted by a friendly sales guy. I told him that I bought a pair of shoes in the past and wanted to just replace them. He quickly looked up my name in the system, and determined that I have a pair of Brooks Adrenaline 10 series. Yes, now I know the name of my shoe. He then proceeded to tell me that they don't make Adrenaline 10 anymore now and that he has Adrenaline 11 and Adrenaline 12. He brought out both pairs for me, and was also brought out another pair for me to try (I was curious about the bestseller shoe). I tried the shoes on and went with the Adrenaline 12s. Also, if you spend more than $100 here, they will apply a 10% loyalty discount. Score. This store carries mostly running gear, so you don't have to wade thru the swimming gear to get to your trainers, shorts or sport bra. I am not a triathlete but I still need good sneakers and the staff here helps me find what the best brand and model is for my needs. I went in to this location at the recommendation of someone in the neighborhood and was very impressed. A person greeted me, asked about my running background and what I currently wear, measured my foot, and brought me a few things to try- teaching me a few things in the process. While I was blown away to discover that my feet had grown 1/2 a size, I was still really happy with the service and knowledge of the salesperson. He applied no pressure to purchase (which I didn't - see review for JackRabbit Union Square), encouraged me to take a picture of the show I liked the best, and even sent me with a free pair of laces, which I would likely need due to tightening the shoe adequately. Also, the shoe price was fair; I was not able to finder a better deal online. Strongly recommend this location if you would like more information than just coming in to make a purchase. read more

Yesterday I visited the Jackrabbit store in the upper west side. When I got there I was greeted and helped by a employee named Anthony who was super helpful and super knowledgeable when it came to all the product they sold. The only issue I had with my visit was the fact that I overheard a female employee being completely rude and unprofessional when speaking to him while I was waiting online to ask him a question. It made me very angry and made me not want to do business at this store. My overall opinion is that Anthony is fantastic and I would recommend him to anyone, but that other female employee needs to be properly trained or taught some respect. 5-star rating specifically for Anthony. read more

I have a love hate relationship with JackRabbit Sports. I would love to give them 5 stars for certain reasons, but prefer to give them 0 stars for others. Shoes Go here for running shoes. I get all my shoes here for a reason. I think they have the best selection, not necessarily the largest, but the best. I have a difficult foot to fit, and am particular. Whoever is helping me will give me 100% of their attention and let me try on 5 pairs if necessary, take my time, run the treadmill, etc. They are very knowledgeable about this. Others The staff can sometimes be a bit condescending. They're the running store equivalent of a video store clerk, or a record shop worker. The seem unemotional and bitter. Aside from the terrific help received from shoes, when it comes to ANYTHING else, their mannerisms are a sense of indifference. They never smile and seem annoyed. After receiving 2-3 emails last week and over the weekend about HUGE MEGA MEMORIAL DAY SALE, and seeing full window height signs advertising the same, I walk in to find nothing. When asked the dour salesperson where all of the sales stuff was, she pointed me to an empty bucket at the front of the store. Most of the store was not on sale, but a teeny tiny 1x2x2 bin at the front, and nothing for men btw. Returns When buying shoes, the will tout their 14-day return policy (I think). if you're unhappy, bring them back. Well, it's certainly not "no questions asked". I brought back shoes that ended up not fitting well after walking home a few blocks. I turned around, went back to the store, to the same person who sold me the shoes, that same day, and gave me the same pitch about being able to bring them back. I got the third f*cking degree. "Why? What's wrong with them?" With such an attitude that almost shamed me into feeling back that I brought them back and tried to have them honor a policy they touted so much. I visited JackRabbit with the intention of taking the running analysis. Basically they record you running on the treadmill for about 30 seconds then replay in slow motion to examine your form. The guy who helped me was super friendly, knowledgeable, patient and honest. He explained my running habits and recommended a few options. I could tell that he had a passion for running which was contagious. The running analysis is a really great service and I wasn't under any obligation to buy anything there. These people eat, breath and love running. I ended up buying my shoe online and I'm very happy with my purchase. read more

Another exercise store? What is going on with me? But with all of the good food, comes the need to run and hence the need for new shoes. Jackrabbit does what a lot of the other specialty running stores do, they analyze your stride and match you to a style, neutral, etc. Then they let you do as much running around on the treadmill as you like while testing shoes. They are very patient and will explain the differences between shoes and types. This store is focused exclusively on running which eliminates a lot of noise and allows for expert help. Store is spacious and laid out well. Staff is friendly and if you join their members list, you get 10% discount for life after the first $100. Things are pricey but they're worth it. Plus, they'll allow you to return shoes for 2 weeks even if you've worn them for store credit. Nice. you can probably get the same shoes at a different store for a lot cheaper, but i came here bc after so many years, i still don't really know whats the best shoe for my foot. help is greatly appreciated and in person help is much better than reading a bunch of websites, trying to form an opin... hmm nvm. good store, great people! read more

This is a smaller store compared to their 14th street flagship, but the leg up this space has is that it is only 2 blocks away from Central Park so it is perfect for group runs and classes. This store is exclusively focused on running, it is such a relief to talk to people who are knowledgeable and passionate on the subject. Think about why Lululemon does such great business, I think it is because they are mainly focused on yoga and built a community culture around the brand that love their products and won't settle for anything less. I can see JackRabbit having a similar effect on the running world if the company were to increase its footprint. I went in for a new pair of shoes 2 weeks ago and went through 4 different pairs on the treadmill before settling on my new shoes. We discussed the pluses and minuses of each shoe along with what is best for the way I naturally run. There was no rush and I walked out of the store with a better pair of shoes than what I would have bought without their consultation. Back to the community I spoke about earlier, if you want to meet a bunch of motivated runners that will whip you into shape faster than you can say Kirstie Alley you need to join a class here. I signed up for an 11 week class that meets 2X per week for less than $250 which I consider quite a value. read more

I've been to this location as well as the one on 14th Street. This one is certainly smaller and has less of a clothing/gear selection, but the service is still quite good. I also think this location is less busy and therefore has less lines if you need to get fitted for shoes (which I did). As most have stated before, you do a quick run on a treadmill where you are filmed to see what type of shoes you will need. You can then try a couple on, run again and then see which you feel most comfortable in. They were very patient and don't rush you. The prices are pretty reasonable, though the shirts/shorts are definitely more expensive than you might find on Amazon, but at least here you support a small chain of shops. They have a point system and with my 100 pts I got nearly $10 off my purchase. For beginners and veteran runners, this place will have what you need. read more

I usually go to the NYRC in Columbus Circle because it's closer to me but came here because NYRC didn't have a shoe in my size and had one put on hold at this location. Anyway, the store isn't as spacious or big as the Columbus Circle location, but the staff was very friendly! They also seemed to get along with each other which makes for a positive atmosphere. It doesn't get as busy as the other location, so if you have questions or like to take your time shopping/browsing, you won't feel rushed here! read more

I've bought shoes from them three times now...twice in the store and once when they reminded me I needed new shoes through their "send me shoes" email reminders. Both times in the store my sales person was helpful. However, my experience today was a little less good than my first. Today the guy wasn't as nice and not as helpful. My last two pairs of shoes were Brooks Pureflow. I was told the first time I came that I was a neutral runner. Today, the first pair he brought me was naturally the Pureflow. When I ran on the treadmill, he said I over pronate and need more support. He gave me the Brooks Pure Cadence 2 and said that I still over pronate in them a little but I should "stick with them because they worked for me before". That may be true, but maybe there's a better shoe out there for me? I guess I won't know until I run in the new shoes. I thought it was odd that he didn't offer me to try on other pairs. It wasn't overly busy in the store or close to closing time. Maybe he just didn't feel like spending time making the sale? I asked for another color since I didn't like the ones I gave and he said that was all they had. He said "the black is cool." I said, "are you sure and can you check cuz I don't like this color." Low and behold, he came out with another pair in purple which I was happy with. But he wasn't really too excited to go and check for me... Also annoyed because before I got the 10% off because of spending over $100 in the past. Now they have a new program which is a points system. So I didn't get 10% off but now have to enroll in a points program and who knows when I'll see the discounts from that.... Overall I like this store. I like their analyzing, helpful staff and runner specificity. Prices are fair (suggested retail). Shoe selection is ok as far as colors but I think if they don't have the color you want you can get it from another location. I also liked their "send my shoes" emails but I didn't get one the last time and thus my shoes were pretty worn out. read more
