I discovered that my right rear tire had a slow leak when my Smart car started "yelling at me" by telling me to check the tire pressure every time I started my car. I Took my car to the Acura dealer and they told me I had a nail in my tire and they could not fix it. That's how I ended up at Frank's Used Tires in south sac. The service here is excellent and super fast. I was asked to park my car under the breezeway and In less than five minutes Frank found the nail and removed / repaired my tire. I sent my fiancé to get our tires checked out as we had a tire pressure sensor notification and one of our tires was visibly low. When he got there & shared our concerns, the person working got irritated with us and said we just filled up our tires to the wrong PSI. So my wife looks online for a good used tire store to pick up tires for our lease return on Saturday. I had already gone to Les Schwab tires here in Sacramento as they are my go to tire store for years. They quoted me approximately $210.00 plus tax and 2 hours to change tires. Fair and acceptable I thought. Frank's has great reviews, so on I go to my first used tire store, EVER! I drive up at 9:10am. I'm met immediately and escorted to the tire stock piles where we find 2 great looking used tires for $45.00 each! UN- FREAKIN BELIEVABLE! LETS' DO IT!! NASCAR has NOTHING on these guys! Came in just about an hour and a half ago. We got a tire because the one we had blew. They were very quick and very friendly. Sadly, once we got home we discovered that the tire they gave us had a patch that is leaking. By the time we saw it and we called the place was closed. My current financial situation is not great right now; after rent, bills, and transportation costs, I have about $100 left over at the end of the month. So when the tread depth on my 1990 Acura Integra's rear tires reached zero, I started sweating a bit. At my last oil change, Pep Boys said they would put tires on for $500....needless to say, that is impossible for me. So I turned to the internet to look for cheaper alternatives, when I found the Yelp page for Frank's Used Tires. What I was reading seemed too good to be true....can good tires really be that cheap? So I set out on a quest to see if the rumors were true. After meeting with a gentleman and explaining my situation, he took a look at my tires, went into the shop, and told me that he could put two "very good tires" on my car for $90. I breathed a deep sigh of relief and told him I found that price to be very agreeable. I figured that for such a low price, I would be getting some beat-up tires with maybe 50% tread. ANYTHING would be better than what I had on my car. So I had a seat outside the office and got on my phone to tell my girlfriend what was going on. And as I finished my text and looked up....my car was ready! I took a look at my "new" tires and couldn't believe my eyes.....these things looked brand new! I double-checked to make sure that the three gentlemen put USED tires on my car, and indeed I was still paying only $90 to drive away. I remembered to pull out cash before heading over, so I handed the guy five $20's, got $10 back, and drove right over the the Bel-Air across the street and stocked up on instant ramen. Alright, so now I had two really, really nice tires on my back-end, and a trunk full of Top Ramen. Surely, these tires would fall right off on the 20-mile drive home. Nope. Smooth sailing; my car has never handled so well on the road. Okay, okay.....so I survived a short trip in town, but now it's time to go to work....my workplace is in Jackson: a 60-mile trip, one-way. Surely THEN, these tires will blow out, or fall off, or SOMETHING. Not on the trip to work, nor on the trip home, did I notice ANYTHING unusual or wrong with my car. After several days of lengthy trips, I now have full faith and confidence that my tires will outlast my engine. And so there it is....the greatest tire shop in Sacramento is Frank's Used Tires on Fruitridge Rd. I will definitely be going back next month to pick up some front-end tires, and maybe the month after that to pick up a spare or two. read more
