I hadn't been here in a few months and now I remember why! It is absolutely ATROCIOUS and horribly embarrassing to have this in San Clemente where people are desperate for decent restaurants. I've had much better pasta ANYWHERE else. The only positive attribute is the kids who take your order and are very sweet. Don't eat here!!! The salmon was overcooked and placed on wilted iceberg lettuce with canned artichokes and tasteless asparagus. The pasta was extremely SALTY and gross with the HUGEST mussels I've ever seen. A few of them were rancid. The shrimp was chalky and I spit it out. Horrible take out experience :( read more

The most wonderful food last night - the seafood special with angel hair pasta was amazingly delicious! I orderd Pasta e fagioli - it was so yummy and with freshness - warmed my heart - we also ordered a side of Francesca rolls but packed them to go bc we had too much food & went home with leftovers to last for three more meals - our server was so excellent- I tipped her twice !!! Very noisy but we made due bc the food was so amazingly delicious!!! read more

After years of exploring, today I finally discovered that Fratello's makes a NY style pizza that truly rivals my all-time Brooklyn favorite: Front Street Pizza. Absolutely amazing! Now I don't have to actually fly to NY to get my fix! read more

Ordered baked ziti with the meat sauce for pickup, got home and the ziti had no meat sauce. Now that I'm home, I have no desire to drive back and get it corrected. Oh well, it was meh with no meat sauce. Check your order before you leave the store. read more

I called today to see what the specials were cause I had the best pasta I have ever had their fairly recents. When they answered the phone the woman asked me if I meant the food on the board. To which I replied yes. And her response was have you been here in the last three months? Cause it's still the same. She then tried to tell me what they could be and I said thanks for making me seem like I should know the answer myself and I said thank you and goodbye. Please educate your staff on how to answer questions cause I would like to continue to come here. read more

When Fratello's was across the street years ago, I visited (mostly with my best friend) at least a couple times a week. Since the move, it has been considerably less that I frequent, driven mainly by the very significant increase in prices. It has not kept me from visiting occasionally as the food is excellent. The house salad is a great lead to Joey's pizza or cannelloni or several other dishes like filet bistecca. Negronis are always called for and Xochil did a great job in that area as well ensuring we were taken care of. The restaurant is generally quiet making for a great environment and encouraging conversation with others in the bar area. We will be back soon. read more

This is not a full review, since I went to listen to a travel cruise presentation and was served dishes selected by the sponsor, but, I'd never been there and will definitely go back. The restaurant is a classic Italian American establishment; it is large, with a private room, full bar and ample seating for diners. The dishes we had were a mixed salad, bowtie pasta in cream sauce and rigatoni bolognese, and they were all quite tasty. Service was great and customers looked quite happy. I'm looking forward to going back for the full experience and getting a fuller picture of what Fratello's has to offer. read more

Fiancé & I chose this restaurant as our rehearsal dinner venue due to the easy banquet and catering menu and finally had our first meal here. We love Italian food and really enjoyed eating at this restaurant. Beautiful intimate vibes, great service, seated right away on a busy night. The fried calamari and fresh baked focaccia bread were our appetizers and they were so delicious and comforting on a windy cold night. We had Alfredo pasta and marinera pasta because those are similar dishes from the banquet menu and were pleased with the big hearty and fresh portions, definitely had leftovers. We also got a decadent tiramisu too! Perfect tasting not too sweet! Highly recommend coming back here & looking forward to my rehearsal dinner here!! read more

WTF is up with this place and their "bartender/server" Annie? Stop by again for the 2nd time in 2 weeks and had the same exact experience with her both times. Indicated that I'd like to place a "to go" order; she states "it'll be a few minutes", then proceeds to bus/service the entire bar/dining area clearing tables, as well as cashing out customers and refilling drinks... I know what I want, I'm a 20% tipper even on my "to-go" orders, yet she refuses to take my order. I've now walked out of the resturant twice and won't be back. Typical "to go" order is ~$80; that's the easiest $15 you've never earned as you wouldn't need to do anything other than ring it in. read more

You can never go wrong with any dishes here, every dish I ordered or my coworker's dishes was always delicious and superb. Our waitress Annie is wonderful and always checking our table, and drinks filling up. Since my work is just a couple of buildings away, it's a staple for our office to head over for lunch at least one or twice a month. I was first introduced to the butternut squash raviolis back in 2019 and just fell in love with the restaurant. (I believe it's a seasonal dish in the fall) the best butternut squash ravioli I ever tasted. Looking forward for that dish in the fall of this year. (Please don't discontinue it, I freaking love it!) Now for the ambiance, we came during lunch and I don't think I ever been here for dinner but that will change after this week. Lunch on Wednesday, March 15, wasn't too crowd, we came as a party of 6 and services was great. Upon ordering our dishes, basket of bread and butter came out in the meantime while our food was being cooked. With a baskets of breads and just catching up on conversations, I'll say our food came out in a timely manner. We weren't in a rush, plus we haven't seen each other for a while and let me tell you, when the dishes came out it was hot and look at my dish. (I got the shrimp scampi, lunch meal) and those shrimps HUGE!! Juicy and not over cooked. Honestly, that might be my second favorite dish now. read more

We were seated near the back of the restaurant and given some bread and a vase of water. After a bit of time we had not seen a waiter and my husband got up to politely find someone to take our order. Micheal came over to our table and very apologetic. He took care of us the rest of the evening. Food is amazing and so delicious. Also very inexpensive for the quality of food. read more

Awesome experience!! Asked to split an entree , had the filet that came with fettuccine Alfredo, and added a Caesar salad, they served great bread as well. They split all into 2 plates and 2 bowls. Came early for drinks. It was busy so it took a little time, but the cocktails were excellent. Dined with a party of 10 which is always a challenge. In general they did great. Everyone was happy with their food. The seafood was fresh tasting and excellent. Drinks were a challenge for our waitress. Tried ordering 2 bottles of wine at the start of the meal. When entrees were starting to be served I asked why the wine wasn't served yet. Her reply was, "oh yeah, what did you order?" Reorder, then 2 glasses of wine instead of bottles, then bottles but one is wrong. Finally the right wine. Another guess had to ask for his after dinner coffee twice. Upon entering (through the back) bar area, on New Years day mind you along with my husband and 6 year old we are welcomed immediately by staff who all felt like family. We were seated in a booth on the other side of the restaurant part (the space is very large and nice) and automatically given menus and crayons for my daughter. Our waitress and staff were so friendly it made our night! Warm bread and butter is offered and drinks were served promptly. We ordered calamari , a small chicken Alfredo pizza and meat balls with angel hair. The flavors were spot on and soooo tasty! Everything was fresh and seasoned to perfection. We noticed a lot of people taking pizzas home and will definitely be back to try more pizzas and pastas. We wanted to thank the kitchen especially for the hot sauce we requested and without hesitation brought to the table. Some of the most generic most Americanized "Italian food" we have ever tasted. If an American toddler were to design an "authentic Italian eatery" Fratello's would be the result. We've given this hapless restaurant second chances, third chances and way too many chances----the food quality hasn't improved. Their marinara sauce (at the base of many of their dishes) is sugary, flavorless glop. We've bought better marinara sauces even premade and jarred. Their Pasta Fajul is a bland and flavorless joke. It's basically a bowl full of small overcooked pasta noodles floating in a tomato soup base that lacks discernible seasoning of any kind. Picture a soup created from a base dependent upon ketchup as a flavoring ingredient and lacking in cannelloni beans. This would be the result. Their Baked Ziti is another overhyped flavorless mess. Their Chef deserves to be forced to eat a plateful of his own lousy Ceasar Salad. This should be their marketing slogan: "Fratello's----just when you thought you'd tasted the very worst in Americanized Italian cuisine" read more

We had reservations and I arrived on time without the rest of the party, they were on there way in an uber, so I thought I'd have some wine and appetizers ready for them but the hostess rudely said they wouldn't seat me until everyone was there and said they were busy and would have to giveaway our table, our clients arrived shortly after that conversation and we were seated. Sat at table in the bar at 7:04pm. Bartender Lisa brought me a menu. At 7:23pm she had never returned. She was taking drink orders at the bar, washing dishes facing me and cleaning the bar counter. Zero customer service. I walked out. I took my business to Jack's in Dana Point. Seated and order taken immediately. Food in 10 minutes. That's good customer service and that's where I will spend my money. Never going back to Fratellos. read more
