Special touches in every booth.

I grew up at my Italian grandmother's stove. So trust me, I know eggplant Parmigiano, I've had it a hundred times, and it's almost never worth writing home about. But Casanova? They actually made me forget every other version I've ever had. The eggplant was thick, tender, not greasy, and that sauce, I don't know what they do, but it's got this depth that just hits different. And it wasn't just that. The rigatoni had that perfect bite, the kind you chase. Even the salad was shockingly fresh. But the real kicker? The espresso. I'm not one to rave about coffee after a meal, but this one was smooth, dark, no bitterness, just a perfect little punch to end the night. Look, I'm picky. Like, annoyingly picky. Italian food is my baseline, my comfort zone, my measuring stick. And this place cleared it with room to spare. The vibe is warm, the service feels genuine, and you leave feeling like you actually ate something made with care. Casanova is a gem. Plain and simple. If you're in the area and you love real Italian, not the glossy, overpriced kind, go. You won't regret it.

Creamy Mac n cheese with fried chicken
Christina ..

Incredible customer service! We just moved to Dana point this month and on our first night we ordered the creamy mac n cheese with fried chicken (10/10 delicious!!) and then a week later my mother in law came to visit and we ordered here the gluten free version (she is celiac) well when we got the order she took a bite and it had bread crumbs on it. We called the restaurant to confirm and they were extremely apologetic, delivered a fresh new gluten free dish within 20 mins to our house and gave us a giftcard, I mean incredible customer service to turn that situation around! We just went in to the restaurant to eat and they are so friendly, and the creamy Mac did not disappoint!!!

Carbonara

We were in Laguna Nigel and our Son suggested this Italian restaurant. We made reservations and when we arrived we were seated immediately. Garlic bread was provided, olive oil and balsamic vinegar were already plated on the table and our server, Mario brought the wine we asked for quickly. What great service! The vibe was very chill and had a romantic feel with an Italian flair. I order the Carbonara and my wine was a Pinot Noir. Both were excellent! The Carbonara was rich and filling and the Pinot was so smooth, I wish I had ordered a bottle! All in all, this venue is a must visit for a romantic eventing.

We had such a great experience at Casanova Ristorante in Dana Point. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and inviting -- the kind of place where you can settle in and really enjoy your meal. The food was fantastic and felt truly authentic. Every dish was beautifully prepared and full of flavor, and you can tell they care about the quality of the ingredients. We also loved the handcrafted cocktails and the wine list -- lots of great options whether you're in the mood for a classic Italian pairing or just a great glass of wine with dinner. Another highlight is their daily happy hour from 3:30-6pm, which is such a great excuse to stop in for drinks and a few bites before dinner. If you're looking for authentic Italian in Dana Point with great service, cocktails, and wine, Casanova Ristorante is absolutely worth a visit. We'll definitely be back!

Do not order their marinara sauce unless you want your mouth to burn incessantly. The food tonight was awful. I ordered pasta with mushrooms and she gave me tons of bell peppers and broccolini stems. Why would anyone put green bell peppers in pasta? The sauce was awful and so spicy.

Came here on Halloween, was seated quickly. The server was nice and attentive. As soon as our water got low they were there refilling it! Awesome service! The restrooms were clean. The oil they use for the bread was so good. The shrimp was tasty and fresh. The sauce was not spicy at all. The mozzarella sticks were so good and cheesy. The egg plant was one of the best plates , so much flavor super delicious. && fulfilling. Calamari was good and fresh not chewy at all just prefect. Pizza was good not too thick on the bread and cheesy. The meatballs just melted in my mouth so good so soft, the sauce they use was not heavy at all. (No heart burn) I will say One of the best meatballs I have had in a long time. The only dish that I was not a fan of was the pink lady. The chicken was okay didn't really like the flavor the pasta kinda tasted old . But overall what a great restaurant! I will be returning to try more dishes.

Prosciutto, Arugula, Ricotta - Bianca Pizza.

Hands down some of the best pizza I've ever had. The prosciutto, ricotta, and arugula pizza was outstanding, and the Margherita and pepperoni were just as amazing. So flavorful and perfectly done. Make sure to get a side of the creamy Italian to dip the crust in. Chef's kiss!

Looking for a cozy, romantic spot in Dana Point? Casanova Ristorante is must in South Orange County for a charming Italian aesthetic, rich pasta / pizza / antipasti and an incredible wine list. Whether you're inside soaking up the moody, wine bar aesthetic or enjoying the fresh air on the patio--every bite feels like a little trip to Italy. Oh and don't skip dessert!!! The crème brûlée is divine.

What the hell is wrong with you people. It cost me an extra $3.00 for them to "Prep" my $14.00 Martini. Bring it to me and I will shake it on my own to save the $3.00. Isn't it part of giving me a drink is prepping it. Never again.

Vongole! Excellent! Just like in Italy

Are dog's welcome on patio?

Everyone is very knowledgeable and shares little tidbits about the wine while you enjoy. A few Suggestions / observations: 1. The self service wine area has a massive wine display that limits access to patrons who are there. A thin long belly bar would make it much more social and accessible. Constantly feel like I am bumping into people or wine bottles just to grab a taster then standing in a corner to get out of the way. 2. The massive LED tv's would be so nice if there was nature or a beach scene or something to set the ambiance. Having a massive advertisement of an appetizer stock photo and happy hour fliers illuminating half the store is not enjoyable, they could be utilized in a much nicer format. 3. Would love to see even more of the self serve wine tasting dispensers in the future! They are a hit and are such a fun concept.

If you can, try the warm smoked almonds and olives; they're smoked perfection with bright lemon zest and paired beautifully with whatever you're having. Those beef Wellington puffs--tender filet mignon wrapped in golden, flaky pastry and served with Dijonnaise!! They were rich, elegant, and utterly irresistible; we couldn't stop reaching for more. 3rd order anyone?! What truly made the night special was the team. From the moment we walked in, the knowledgeable staff was genuinely helpful and enthusiastic, guiding us through their wine selections with thoughtful recommendations that perfectly complemented each dish. Their passion turned a lovely dinner into a memorable experience--approachable yet refined. Highly recommend for a special night out. We left smiling, a bit fuller, and already planning to come back. Five stars!

I've attended their trivia nights, and they were a blast--well organized, engaging, and a perfect activity for a group of friends. The drinks are fantastic. The Sauvignon Blanc sangria and the frozen rosé are both amazing and have become some of my favorites. The food is consistently good, and the lively atmosphere keeps me coming back. On my most recent visit, I had the opportunity to beta test one of their murder mystery events, and it was such a unique and entertaining experience. It added a whole new level of fun to the evening and made for a memorable night out. If they offer the murder mystery event again, I highly recommend checking it out. When we arrived for our date night, our server, Macy, told us we could choose any table. After we selected one, she immediately told us it was reserved, so we happily moved without any issue. However, while we were finishing our meal, a couple walked in and were seated at that exact table. Macy removed the "Reserved" sign right in front of them and took their order. Seeing that happen left us feeling confused and honestly unwelcome. I can't say why the situation happened, but it was difficult not to wonder if we were being judged differently. The other guests seemed to receive a much warmer welcome, and the interaction felt noticeably different from ours. Whether that was intentional or not, it didn't sit right with us. I would love to not think it wasnt racial, however, we are Hispanic, and the other couple was blonde haired blue eyed. That is literally the only difference that I could speculate or comprehend as to why the table was available to them and not us. We've always had wonderful experiences here, which is why this one stood out so much. I truly hope this was an isolated incident because we'd like to continue supporting a place we've enjoyed for years. I simply wanted to share how this experience made us feel in the hope that every guest is welcomed and treated with the same level of hospitality. I'm not calling for a racist by any means however I did notice that me and my husband are Hispanic and that the woman and her boyfriend were white blonde hair blue eyed, and I would hate to think that in this day and age that someone can be like that, but I don't understand what the difference was that allowed them to get the table.

The parking is definitely limited, as I saw from other reviews on Yelp. On a Sunday evening it was very easy, however. The menu is fairly limited, and I wish they had a few more fish options, though the salmon I saw looked absolutely incredible. I had the chicken caesar salad. The chicken was a large portion, and so tasty. The dressing was SO good. They did forget dressing on both of our salads which was kind of annoying for a simple caesar (so we had to get a side of it). That being said, once we did get dressing, I seriously could've drank the stuff it was so yummy. They also scorch their tomatoes in the salad to perfection. I also tried the crispy tuna appetizer, which was surprisingly different from similar versions I have had at sushi restaurants (not in a bad way). The fish was very fresh and I would order this appetizer again. I think it came with five fairly small pieces (just so you know how many to order for a crowd). If you are feeling dessert, they have an incredible (and massive) butter cake!

As someone who know his way around wine bars, I think they have a nice, though somewhat limited, selection of wines, but their pricing is totally fair, and Tony, who is a practicing Sommelier, is quite knowledgeable as well as a welcoming and jovial "host". Having read a few of the negative reviews, I note that it is the Food Service they offer which gets almost all the criticism. I like just about everything I've ordered there (they have a good selection of appetizers, 'shared plates', salads, burgers, sandwiches) but depending upon who is in the kitchen, I have witnessed overly-lengthy waits for simple orders, both from my orders and from other customers. That said, it is positively one of THE best burgers around, especially at $15 INCLUDING a side. They also have a very competent sushi chef in-house who makes great stuff. Please note this location is closed Mon & Tue; the Irvine location is 7 days. And it does close promptly at 8pm. All in all, I think it's a hidden "gem", and Tony runs a first-class operation.
