Spiny Lobster Tails
Linda C.

Nothing like fresh, delicious seafood! Fantastic selections on the menu ... seafood platters to tacos to burritos to salads and more. What I loved was the taste of the freshness of the fish ... not what you would necessarily get at a chain seafood restaurant. We had the spiny lobster tails, fries, coleslaw and an incredibly fresh huge salad! Service was very good and friendly. We sat on the outdoor patio, which was absolutely lovely on this hot day! You have to experience Jon's Fish Market!

Wow--can't believe we've never eaten here after all our visits to Dana Point. What a great little café! We sat outside, which was very pleasant, though I wish I had gone inside to check out the interior as well. Service was a bit slow, but very friendly. Our server was especially kind and welcoming. The food was extremely delicious--fresh, with flavors that were perfectly balanced and complemented each other well. I'm already looking forward to coming back to try more items. The only minor issue was the pigeons. The staff does a good job of chasing them away, but while we were there, some guests fed them, which caused quite a stir. Still, don't let that deter you--the food, service, and overall experience were excellent!

We stopped by today for lunch and waited over 30 mins without a single server stopping by. The table next to us walked out and we ended up doing the same.

We had such a great experience! Chris provided absolutely outstanding service attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming. He made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. The food was wonderful as usual, and the overall experience was top-tier. We'll definitely be back. Best server ever!

The fish at John's Fish market is extremely fresh. We can see why they want an award for 2025.... It's a bit of a gritty fish market hang out. It's been here forever, however , we just came in here because we were going to get a coffee at Cocoa Bloom. The fish and chips are quite good . And I had a Seabass taco. We're hoping that they can replace the outdoor tables with some newer ones . Very dog friendly and we noticed a lot of people getting off of the Catalina express boat came right on over for some fish and chips

Jon's Fish Market at Dana Point has fresh seafood and a nice waterfront location, which made for a pleasant visit. The food was decent and portions were fair, but the flavors didn't quite stand out. Service was nice though! Overall an okay spot if you're in the area, but there's room for improvement.

Halibut, fries, coleslaw

Went there for a dinner last Fri night. The whole harbor was abuzz that night due to Xmas boat parade...of course it's the holiday season in general, and it was Friday night ! I got there a half-hour before they close (that night last call was 8:45) and ordered a Halibut dinner with fries and coleslaw, and enjoyed a split of Sauvignon Blanc before and during the meal. It is a paper plate and plastic silverware place, which I'm fine with. It never bothered the Crab Cooker in Newport, and they have been around FOREVER! Halibut was nicely grilled, fries were thin and delicious, coleslaw was fresh and crisp. I must come back for their famous Fish & Chips. Kinda picky about tartar sauce-their's was very good. You can tell they make it, instead of using whatever Sysco sells!

I'm so glad I stepped into this place. I walked in and I was warmly greeted by Jet, who was a very well mannered young man. He was very knowledgeable and friendly to every customer that walked in. You can really tell. He loves his job. The fish was amazing and their french fries were perfectly cooked. The portion size was very generous. I will definitely be back.

Took forever to get our order taken, took forever to get our food. All the food was cold, and not very tasteful. Pigeons everywhere - not really their fault. But really probably better fitted as bird food anyway. Starving and biking four miles to get here. This is all that we have eaten and want no more.

This place... fix your service! Come on! 4th of July weekend and you have two servers! Dana Point Harbor on a holiday weekend. DISAPPOINTED.

We went with a large party of 10 about an hour to closing time and Jon's Fish Market did a great job accommodating our group. We ordered the fried and grilled Jon's Combo, grilled Red Snapper catch, and clam chowder. Since they were closing soon and it was a Sunday night, they were running out of a few ingredients towards the end - which Seabass, our server, was super communicative and helpful with! He helped us replace some ingredients that were short with extra shrimp and fries and made sure we were full and taken care of. Super thankful for this team for their service! No problem with parking, and we dined outside with our dog.

Clam chowder

Had the clam chowder and fish and chips. Really good chowder and good fish and chips. The service, however, needs serious improvements. There seemed to be no organization. We had many different t people wait on us, but when we needed them, they were nowhere to be found. This was especially true when we wanted to pay. I don't think they have one person assigned to specific tables and that is an issue.

Didn't try the food just came here for a couple of beers. They don't have any on tap so it's essentially a fish market and they will serve you fresh fish, which I'm sure is very good. I did fall in love with the trestles beer, which is from a local San Clemente brewery!

The vendors give more samples than I've seen at other farmers markets and it works. Tasting something so fresh keeps me coming back for more. The nuts, hummus, produce, sausage, and cheeses are good, I highly recommend them. Oh and the eggs & baked goods too! There's something unique (at least to me) at this market, they have a good size selection of dog food and treats.

Wow! What a gem!! My boyfriend and I discovered Glasspar spontaneously on a Saturday late afternoon…read morewhile we were taking the trolley and enjoying the breezy free ride down the coast. We happened to stop nearby and decided to look around this plaza. We were starting to get hungry and Glasspar looks like the most appealing option so we decided to check it out. HAPPY HOUR: Mon-Thurs 4:30-6pm, Fri-Sat 4-6pm. Wow what a deal. I normally don't think about happy hour deals on Saturdays but we were pleasantly surprised. It was 5:30pm already so we had to make some quick decisions. Chad was very friendly and helpful with our order. We decided to get a Dozen and a Half Oysters (HH $3/each), an Oyster Shooter (HH $5), Duck Fat French Fries (HH $7), 1/2 lb Steamed Clams (HH $13), and Seafood Poke (HH $12). The specialty cocktails were such a good deal I wanted 2 but asked my boyfriend to order one so I don't look like too much of an alcoholic. I had the White Sangria Spritzer (HH $12) and a G3 (HH $12). Everything came out in a reasonable amount of time and Chad communicated checking on things for us as we were waiting. He was really on top of it. The oysters were awesome! My only regret was not ordering more. For the dozen and a half came with 6 of each of Baracats, Stingrays, and Pacific Plumps. I thought the baracats and stringrays were mild. My favorite was definitely the pacific plumps; it was sweet and creamy with a good bite to it. The shucking was also really well. I just want to give them that credit. The oyster shooter was strong, in a good way. Tasty! The duck fat fries were nice and crispy. It came with a rich truffle aioli. The steamed clams were good, but the slice of bread they gave us with it was burnt to an inedible level. I also would have liked a spoon to sip that garlic white wine and butter liquid. Clams were fresh. The seafood poke came with crispy wonton chips. It was decent. After our original order we decided we wanted to finish off with somethings small, so we got the Clam Chowder ($14). I would have liked it a smidge thicker in texture but the taste and the quality of ingredients are on point. I get the bacon essence and a good amount of clams in the soup too. I'm really glad we added that to our order. I also really like that the check comes in books. Chad told us that we can write a note in it if we want. They look at it like a way to interact with their customers. So cute!! We are DEFINITELY coming back here!! Next time I'll order even more oysters :)

Definitely a kid friendly place for the wide variety of dishes. I was so excited I forgot to take a picture of the Oyster Rockefellers. Those were tasty, decadent, but not too overwhelming. The cod fish had this curry sauce on it that was so good you could drink it. The inspirational dish of the day was this wild sea bass. It's so difficult to find a place that can prepare fish that isn't too dry or salty, Glasspar was fantastic.

On July 4th, during our family trip to Dana Point, we went on a two-hour dolphin-watching cruise…read moreand then had a family lunch together. For lunch, my dad ordered the Mahi Mahi, and my mom got the Clam Chowder Bowl and Sliders. I ordered a cup of Clam Chowder. I was so severely seasick that I could barely eat anything, but since I absolutely love clam chowder--and figured I'd be starving later if I skipped lunch entirely--I decided to just have a little bit of soup. One of my brothers had the Ceviche, and my other brother got the Smoked Salmon. The food here was absolutely delicious, the staff and servers were incredibly friendly, and the restaurant had a great atmosphere, so we were completely satisfied. The ocean view was also amazing. At first, we sat at an outdoor table, but later we asked to be moved inside. Even at the indoor table, we were seated by the ocean view, so we could still fully enjoy the scenery outside, which was wonderful. It was also great being able to watch the World Cup soccer match on TV while having lunch. If anyone is looking for a restaurant in Dana Point with delicious food, an ocean view, and friendly service, I would highly recommend this place.

There was already a pretty good line forming when they opened, so I'd definitely recommend getting there early if you want to sit outside. I ordered the Hawaiian Chicken, and the chicken itself was moist and flavorful, although slightly salty for my taste. The outdoor seating was definitely the highlight though, with really nice views of the water and a relaxing atmosphere. There's a decent amount of parking near the restaurant, although many of the spots seem mainly intended for those with boats. There is also a larger parking structure about a 5-minute walk away with plenty of parking available. Since I was a little crunched for time, I didn't get the chance to explore the surrounding shops, but I'm hoping to do that next time I'm in the area.
