At the time that we contacted her, we were about to add a 4 month old Shih-Tzu to our family. We were incredibly concerned about potty training and making sure he didn't bite/chew our things. Royah didn't have availability right away, but she offered to come to receive him the day he came home for a training session to introduce him to our home/family/routine. She offered guidance on how to set up our home to be most conducive to him getting acclimated. That was incredibly helpful! When availability opened up, we then transition to her Board & Train service -- which is really unique. It builds in opportunities for family visits with our puppy while he was being trained. This made sure that he didn't forget us, but also that we were included in the training. The visits were very fun. Board and Train is not cheap, but should it be? No. Her pricing is also extremely competitive and you get more than what others offer - trust me, I did a lot of research. Royah was also extremely intentional about understanding our family's day-to-day so that she could train him according to our individual circumstance. For example, if no one is home for 10 hours at a time, she needs to make sure that she organizes his day accordingly so that families will have continued success with the dog's routine upon return. If you have a school aged child. During training, Royah would take the puppy to nearby schools so that the puppy gets accustomed to the chaos of school let out, being around lots of kids, and school buses. In addition, to basic training, he also learned some tricks. Royah is also really kind and thoughtful. We had some extremely cold winter days and our pup didn't have a coat, she took him to get one. There were also some bitter cold snow days that didn't allow as much outdoor training as she would have liked, so she kept him an extra two days at no charge. She also continues to be a resource. If we have any questions or concerns on new habits that our puppy has picked up, she will offer guidance and suggestions on how to address. When he returned home, there was a day or two of him forgetting his routine - which is normal. But, then it was smooth sailing. He's accident free in the home and extremely well behaved when out. None of our valuables have been chewed/eaten and he has an amazing disposition. A lot of that is due to Royah's skilled training. I also have to stress that it is very important to continue to replicate what Royah taught at home -- reinforcement is necessary to keep the learned training alive.

When my mother picked him up, she was told by Dr. Cohen not to inform me of the incident (I have been in the field for ~15 years) and was discouraged from seeking care elsewhere. No post-procedure blood work or objective assessment was performed to ensure he was stable for discharge. We took him to a 24-hour emergency hospital, where he was found to be dehydrated, hypokalemic, and in acute kidney failure. He has since required multiple ER visits for vomiting, lethargy, and not eating, along with ongoing monitoring that has cost thousands of dollars. Dr. Cohen also stated he would not be taking action regarding the employee involved, citing that she had been "showing improvement," and added that she is pregnant. Regardless, verifying the correct patient prior to anesthesia is a fundamental responsibility of the veterinarian. If others have had similar experiences and are considering reporting concerns to the state veterinary licensing board, I encourage you to document everything and follow the appropriate formal complaint process. No pet or family should have to go through this.

We were struggling with two very large, male adolescent Chow Shepherd mix littermates, whom we had adopted from a rescue without knowing any of the cautionary tales about raising littermates together and how difficult the training process can be. Before Sean, we primarily received criticism and judgment from trainers rather than actual training techniques and strategies. Sean was undeterred by the fact that we had littermates, and he provided clear guidance and feedback from day one. Our dogs were immediately responsive, and our sessions with Sean completely transformed our communication and relationship with our boys. His patience and insightful feedback really instilled confidence in us as owners of large breed dogs, and we have since received countless comments about how well-behaved our dogs are (which we always attribute to his expert training). Sean has remained such an incredible resource and support system for us and was even there for us when we very unexpectedly lost one of our dogs to hemangiosarcoma earlier this year.
