This review for Walk Dog Talk Dog is extremely long overdue, especially considering how invaluable our experience with Sean has been throughout the years. My husband and I reached out to Sean after he was recommended to us by another dog owner we knew, and after we had worked with four previous trainers with limited success. We were struggling with two very large, male adolescent Chow Shepherd mix littermates, whom we had adopted from a rescue without knowing any of the cautionary tales about raising littermates together and how difficult the training process can be. Before Sean, we primarily received criticism and judgment from trainers rather than actual training techniques and strategies. Sean was undeterred by the fact that we had littermates, and he provided clear guidance and feedback from day one. Our dogs were immediately responsive, and our sessions with Sean completely transformed our communication and relationship with our boys. His patience and insightful feedback really instilled confidence in us as owners of large breed dogs, and we have since received countless comments about how well-behaved our dogs are (which we always attribute to his expert training). Sean has remained such an incredible resource and support system for us and was even there for us when we very unexpectedly lost one of our dogs to hemangiosarcoma earlier this year. We were beyond devastated, and he was a beacon of light during that dark and painful time. I honestly can't recommend him and Walk Dog Talk Dog enough. Our rescue pup Rudy was having a tough time adjusting to life in the city. He lacked the confidence to walk more than a few steps beyond our building for the first month, and his separation anxiety was also preventing us from leaving the house. I was worried his fear might evolve into aggression, so I called Sean to help us with leash training. It was pretty remarkable watching how Rudy responded to Sean right off the bat. The sessions were so much more than leash training. Sean helped me better understand Rudy's anxieties and his need for more structure and less freedom to feel secure. This is my first Yelp review! I was so happy with my experience with WDTD that I finally decided to set up an account. Sean has made a dramatic difference with our dog, Poncho, in just our first training session. Sean was recommended to us when we adopted our Chihuahua mix from Heavenly Angels. Poncho had a very sweet disposition we adopted him. Unfortunately, he was becoming increasingly nervous around strangers and protective of us as he settled in to his new home. Sean quickly identified what his behavioral problems were, and helped us understand how to correct them. By following his guidelines, we have seen Poncho gradually shed some of his anxious behavior, and is a noticeably calmer and content dog. I have taken him to work since training started, and my co-workers noticed the difference right away. Sean is extremely personable and great to work with. I will never be able to say enough good things about Sean Lundy. I took in two rescue dogs, both with completely different personalities and needs. My first was a nervous little pocket pittie who spent most of her life in a shelter. Upon taking her in, Sean took the time to leave me very clear instructions on how to properly introduce her to my home and what to do in order to get her used to home life. With Sean's help, she mastered walking on a leash, sit, stay, down, off, and leave it. She gained confidence and learned to trust me when she was scared. One year later and she's a whole different dog. She loves all people, loves meeting dogs on a walk, and can actually enjoy the walk. I even taught her some fun tricks! My next is another pitbull who is the sweetest, most mellow dog I have ever met, but likes dogs a little too much. Whenever he saw another dog on a walk, he would start barking and jumping in excitement because he liked dogs just a little too much. Sean taught me how to correct it and how to distract him and put him into a calm state. After one session with Sean and I haven't had the problem since. I now have two incredible dogs that are always receiving compliments on how well behaved they are. Pitbulls get such a bad rep, but I can proudly say that my two dogs have been responsible for changing quite a few people's mind on the breed. None of it would have been possible if not for Sean's guidance. He explained everything he did to me clearly, and taught me just as much as he taught the dogs. Absolutely stellar - Sean is a star. I brought home a 15 lb terrier rescue named Lukie in December who was on his best behavior for about 2 months before I started having problems with him on our walks. He started to randomly pick fights with other dogs while we were out, was completely unpredictable unless we came cross a husky - in which case, Lukie would lose his mind and go absolutely crazy. Walks were a source of stress for both of us. I found Sean through a friend and we did 3 training sessions in total. After the first session and really working with the homework that Sean assigned, walking Lukie became an absolute joy unless we came across a husky. After the second session, Sean advised switching the leash and taught me how to give more directed corrections. The great news is last night I was able to go on a walk with my neighbor, Lukie, and my neighbor's ginormous husky. Without issue. Lukie is calmer, happier, and I feel confident taking him anywhere. HE IS AMAZING. incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and kind. my brother's one-year-old pitbull mix is a whole new dog in just the first session. the dog is now walking well on a leash, knows commands (stay, down, let go-- especially important for a large size dog), and is learning how to play with other dogs appropriately (we had a session with sean at the dog park. I'm so happy I found Sean lundy's yelp page! This man saved my rescue pup's life! The pup was our first rescue and was a great dog but had aggression/dominance issues. When it got to the point where he was aggressively biting us unprovoked and we wouldn't be able to work bc our hands were so swollen, we were at our wit's end. We tried to get the foster agency to possibly rehome him, possibly to someone without kids, but obviously, in good conscience they couldn't rehome a known aggressive dog. They were very kind but in the end it came down to either us euthanizing him or us giving him back to have them do it. It was awful, and we were heart broken and torn. When we called the vet to make an appt they suggested a dog trainer. When we called him and described the situation, he suggested Sean as an animal behavioralist would be better able to handle him. Sean is def best described as the dog whisperer of queens. After one hour session our pup made a change like u only see on TV. He wasn't cured or anything but just the way he interacted with Sean was amazing! Sean gave us tips and exercises to do at home with him. After maybe one month he improved by leaps and bounds. Now, a year later, he hangs out with a 1.5 year old daily (who has even accidentally punched him in the face with no issues). He gets groomed all on his own... Including face and paws!!!! INSANE! I can really go to town cleaning out his eye boogies and I'm so much more confident now. I can't thank Sean or recommend him enough, def some of the best money we've ever spent. I cannot recommend Sean enough! I have a 7 month old terrier mix that is a bit of a monster sometimes--especially when he is on walks. He explained everything he was doing, why he was doing it, and how it will help with our training. I have used online dog training videos, which definitely helped with areas such as potty training and socialization training. Having the one on one interaction with a skilled trainer took it the next level and I feel like it will have a more lasting effect--especially on me. We recently rescued a 6 yo male Westie. He is a great family dog other than the issue of snapping at our two year old. We were in need to train our two year old and our new dog how to coexist. What can I say? Sean is AMAZING! We have a rescue dog with severe anxiety. Thunder, lightning, light rain, fireworks, you name it. We now live in Texas and decided that the only person to help us with Lola was Sean who had helped rehabilitate and train her after she was rescued back in 2013 in NYC. We had two virtual training/behavior sessions with Sean, and we saw a big difference even after just the first session. Sean taught us that her behavior could change through structured leadership and guidance. Lola has learned to respond to correction, and she is becoming less insecure in general because we are now communicating more clearly to her. Two years ago, I learned about Sean's services from the shelter where I adopted my then 3 year old pit bull mix. He came highly recommended for a good reason. I had a gotten a shih tzu puppy Molly recently I also have a two year old shih tzu teddy.. I didnt realize what I had got myself in for.. The barking was constant and the biting was getting very aggressive.. I was so worried she was becoming a nuisance with my neighbors too.. I adopted my dog through a rescue at 3 months old and the vets recommended he not go out until he got all of his shots. Well when I finally took him outside he turned into mini cujo when he saw other dogs. He could hear them from a block away and would bark ferociously as they got into view. People would quickly walk across the street with their pooches out of fear he was aggressive. He made friends with 3 dogs but it seemed no one would ever give him a chance with that barking. A trainer was suggested and a rescuer recommended Sean Lundy. We had our first session today and it feels like I already have a different, more confident yet obedient dog on our walks. Sean showed me how he should be approaching dogs and it makes all the difference. We just came home from a walk and it was amazing. He greeted two dogs without barking and walked past a third that he normally barks at with barely a glance. AMAZING is all I can say.
