Spend 7 months in the pouring down rain/cold and in the heat to produce great beef for our customers. In 2025 Home Meats stole 100s of pounds of meat from us and our customers. Sure they had botched paperwork, but if you see the packages you'd know there is no way the meat we were given was from our 1000+ lb 2 year old cow. read more

I am going to give these guys a bump. This was my 5th time here, but only the 3rd time they were open. As mentioned in my previous review. I was disappointed with their inability to update their website. We checked before each visit and had no idea they planned to be closed on the two days we arrived and the place was dark. Also as advised, we weren't alone as several others were wondering why the place was closed during business hours. Living in Seattle, this place is 90 minutes away and on every trip, due to unbelievable traffic, it took 2.5 hours to get here. The reason for my bump, they did something amazing on two of my visits. I won't say what, but it was a gesture worthy of praise. I'll also note this time, I saw a lot of samples, so either that is new, or I was oblivious on previous visits. I was able to try a couple pepperonis. Although full of flavor, it just didn't flip my wig. I love the salt, but I like a spicy pepperoni, and the samples I had lacked heat. They also support a lot of local small business, but again as called out in my original review, most of the prices are far to high for what you'd expect to pay in the region or for the product. The meat products are well made and seasoned better than other meat markets. With inflation, it's hard to hold these guys accountable for elevated prices, but at the end of the day, these are really nice people that are far better at meat processing than they are maintaining their website read more

Home meat sells mean and also is fantastic to work with when getting a hog butchered. I didn't pick them but the people that raised the hog do. Home meats was great to explain their process and what our option of cuts were. I really appreciate that we were able to get the fat trimmings from our hog also so I could use it. Outside of having an animal processed by them, they have a lot of good cuts of mean there also. If looking for some good local cuts this is a great plan to go. They even have some other food items like salsa, salmon, and some veggies and fruits (when in season). Def a good place for food. 10/10 read more

Home Meat Service appears to be a farm converted into a butcher shop. I'm not sure if that's exactly the case but I do appreciate that they are not like any other butcher shop in town. You have to make an effort to get there because they are the only thing around. If I had a butcher shop, this is the setup that I'd have. There wouldn't be any trouble with random bystanders seeing me unload half a cow from a truck. I'm not sure how other butcher shops in town minimize normal butcher sights and smells but Home Meat Service has it mastered. Based on the website listing their game processing services, which include bear and cougar, I was hoping to find out of the ordinary meats. However, it seemed to be more of the typical beef, chicken, and pork cuts. We got a couple steaks and some jalapeno links, both of which tasted good. read more

This review is for their retail sales, not the butchering of any domestic meats or game. We were told by a neighbor that they had fantastic clam chowder, by the bowl, for sale. This was something I was hankering when I was visiting family in the area. Upon arrival, which was located down a semi-rural road (not on or off the main highway) we entered to find they had a nice looking meat counter and miscellaneous meat and some non-meat items for sale. We purchased their clam chowder (only served on Fridays we were told), some Olympic Mountain ice cream and a pack of their in-house made jalapeno pepperoni sticks. The service was friendly and efficient. The clam chowder was as good as the neighbor claimed. Olympic Mountain ice cram is always good. And the jalapeno pepperoni sticks were delicious as well. I look forward to returning to Home Meat Service on my next visit and selecting a couple of steaks the next go around. read more

The ultimate "candy store" for carnivores! Stopped here on the way to White Pass for a ski vacay. I was searching Yelp for some really good sausages, because I had promised hubby I would make him a Toad in the Hole for our first night's dinner. As it turned out, Home Meat Service was open and ON THE WAY!!! When we walked in, there were several people in the cutting area parting out whole halves of beef. There was a terrific selection of meats in the case, and more frozen. We were instantly greeted and helped out. When I explained what I was looking for, we took a look through the sausage sections and at first I didn't think I was going to find what I was looking for. But, wait...what do I see? Bangers! Perfect! So I picked out the sausages and asked about beef cheeks. Turns out they had them, and for a TOTALLY reasonable price. It's one of the best cuts of beef and it cost less than hamburger. Sold to the drooling woman there on the right! And, a super nice thing: they tossed in a small package of their homemade pork sausage, so that's a really special little bonus! I know I'm going to be back. It's so nice to be able to get some cuts you don't normally see, and I want to experiment with other offerings! Oh, and just to let you know...the Toad was wonderful. My buddy and I took his elk in for processing. First had to wheel the meat all over the shop because they were chaotic in back, but we weren't in a hurry so didn't think much of it. Ordered as many steaks to be cut as possible, a couple roasts and 40 lbs of breakfast sausage. My buddy picked it up and nine small packs of steak (no way on a big elk!), one roast and no sausage. A week of nonsense ensues where they offer for us to bring burger back to thaw and make sausage (NO!), we negotiate them providing pork sausage replacement then they back out, etc. My buddy called the owner to tell her about this experience. Just now, the Ops manager Casey calls and reads him the riot act and whines about how tough she's got it. Used to be a great place. Never again. read more

I have had the most horrible experience and was told that absolutely nothing could be done about it. My husband and myself went there for the first time yesterday because we had heard good things. Well we ordered the BBQ package and the young man helping us tried to switch out or tri tip roast for a cheaper product and it was just because they wanted to not because they didn't have the product. And then we get home only to discover that the "beef franks" in the package were BALLPARK FRANKS! Like what you get from Safeway. I couldn't believe it and called right away and was told very rudely that even though it was my first time I should have known and that they would do absolutely nothing at all in anyway about it. I will never go back there again and I hope that this helps people know what they are getting into! read more

These people were rude from the start. First of all we aren't sure we got all the elk meat we were supposed to. Second- we asked to save the elk bones for our dogs and weren't given any. And the final straw came last night when we made elk chili and discovered the elk burger is full of bone chips! Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else! read more

First time I've been to Home Meat's and it won't be the last time. Really surprised to receive a few extra meats after mentioning I had not been in before. The items I purchased were higher quality meats that aren't available in a grocery store. The prices were reasonable and affordable. Did have a hard time finding where they were located, being unfamiliar with the area and with spotty cell phone service to map the address. Really nice people and a very clean appearance inside which shows they have pride in their establishment and in the way they care about their customers. Wasn't expecting the business to be located on an actual farm--can't get much fresher than that. So glad I found a new place to buy my meats from. Highly recommend this business. read more

Today was my first trip to Home Meat Service and I have to say, this is the cleanest meat shop I've ever seen. All of the employees were very friendly. I purchased 3 Ribeye steaks and they didn't disappoint, they were so fresh and very tasty! I also purchased some other items that I haven't tried yet, but they look amazing. The other items I brought home was summer sausage, Chorizo, Cajun Chicken Sausage, thick cut Alderwood Bacon, Garlic Kielbasa, and Kicken Kielbasa. I also picked up some smoked cattle knuckles for my dog at 2 bucks each and he loves them; so do I, it's keep him busy for hours : ) They have fresh, smoked, and frozen products from pork, beef, and chicken. They also have some rubs and sauces too. You can bring in game and they'll butcher it too. Not sure what the pricing is for that. Will go back for sure! read more

This place cuts meat up. not much else I think. They do sell some meat that they cut up, but I ahve never gotten any. So far all I have done is paid them to cut up meat that I own. This can be cows, pigs, or pretty much anything else. I found them through a farmer friend of mine and I have been going back ever since. They are super friendly and super professional. The meat that I get is always cut up just how I asked and nicely frozen and waiting in boxes for me. I have even had them leave part for me to cut and wrap and they do that too. Hidden gem! I mostly shop here for the smoked meats. They make the best landjaeger I've had since I moved here from Germany 20 years ago. This place is my go-to for easy potluck appetizers, or gift packages for people who are hard to shop for. Staff is very friendly. Will have to agree with others who gave only one star. Only because I can't give 0 stars. Simple task. I brought in 45 pounds of frozen pork trim (human grade) to thaw, grind, and package in 5 pound bags. The 5 pound specification was for a reason. For a $6 a pound grinding/packaging cost (WAY more than others charge) I expected nine 5 pound bags somewhat neatly bagged. This was not rocket science, and I would have expected that somewhere they might actually have had a scale that someone might have known how to use. What I received was instead a mishmash of 13 frozen bags with varying amounts of meat in each bag, all of which were frozen in mis-shapen globs that would take up more than twice the necessary freezer space even if each bag had contained 5 pound. So now I'm having to thaw all of this and weigh and repackage. I'd take this entire mess back and have them do it right, but from other reviews it sounds as though they are really not interested in anything resembling customer service or satisfaction. So shame on me for not researching them first, but certainly won't be returning. read more

We finally stopped here today, after seeing the sign on many visits to Shelton. We arrived 1 minute before closing and they graciously stayed open for us! We bought gorgeous rib eye steaks, apple cinnamon pork sausage, pork sausage, local salsa... and they gave us a wonderful sampling of their many beef jerkies -- yum!!! We bought the regular, teriyaki, sriracha teriyaki, honey, jalapeño honey, and special beef jerky!! Soooo 'ono!! Honey is my favorite and the special is my husband's...but as you can see, there are multiple "close seconds!" We also got some pig ears for our big dog! Will definitely be back!! read more

Do not go here with prime graded beef these guys will steal it! Family has been in the cattle business for years and had some beef cattle butchered that graded prime. Well a price was agreed upon before the butchering and then was changed and increased after the slaughter and animal was hauled in. RED FLAGS!!!!! My family knew exactly how much beef should be coming back to them and how much in the different cuts. Well most of what was given back was hamburger , hardly any steaks especially roasts or tenderloin. Do not go to these guys they will steal you blind. Will be seeking legal action and DNA testing the beef we got back to see whats what. read more

These guys... and gals have a great operation. Limited fresh meat when you walk in the door, but a large selection of well wrapped frozen cuts as well as many varieties of bacon and sausages. We bought 2 fresh pork shoulders for carnitas, 4 fresh rib eyes, regular smoked and jalapeño bacon and several packages of frozen sausage. Quality all around, friendly counter person, family owned and operated for 50+ years... I couldn't ask for more. Well worth the drive. We'll be back soon. read more
