Pharmacy: I reluctantly switched to this pharmacy when the local RiteAid closed. The assistants were okay but the pharmacist was usually pretty short when interacting. However, recently, my dr's office called in an antibiotic prescription early on a Friday. Should have been filled within an hour as it is something they keep in stock. By Sunday it still had not been filled, I went in to inquire why. I was told, " it came in on Friday. We don't fill those until the next business day. If it's important you can always call us". I remarked, "Oh, that would have been nice to know ahead of time." The assistant looked as though I slapped her. At that point her whole demeanor towards me changed. I witnessed her speaking rudely about me to the female pharmacist who then also treated me rudely. This was an antibiotic prescription. I was in pain for 2 days because "they don't fill prescriptions received on Fridays until the next business day (Monday)". This information is not posted anywhere. I have notified my dr's office who said that they have heard similar complaints. Other pharmacies in the area have also heard similar complaints. read more

UPDATE AUGUST 2019: the pharmacy still struggles to get anything done in a timely fashion. I've had countless digital scripts "lost", and been forced to have my doctor call/fax them in multiple times. The employees will frequently put you on hold for so long you ring through to the customer service line. This place is a disaster. A dog just crapped on the floor (which is definitely on the owner, but why was an non-vested pet allowed in a place where we buy food?). The pharmacy doesn't have nearly enough employees, and is chronically late. If they quote you a thirty minute wait time be ready to wait an hour. They're not even polite about their lack of service. read more

I got stuck with Nancy again. I bet I had fifteen items in the Express lane checkout. She made sure to tell me I was in the wrong line and shouldn't be there. I hadn't noticed. I had a fussy toddler strapped to my chest. I asked how the fred meyer app worked and if the oat milk I was buying had the discounted price or if I needed to do anything. This store is garbage. It's expensive, the quality sucks, and shopping here is annoying. They're often out of products I need, they're understaffed, which means the carts aren't where they should be, and I can't get bags at the self check out. This review is just for the grocery pick-up. Gary is outstanding. He's fast, friendly, professional, etc. I love picking my groceries in advance on the app, seeing the price, and only waiting a few minutes when I pull into a reserved spot. I'm usually back home within 30 minutes, tops, when going inside would EASILY take me at least an hour (and leave me annoyed and frustrated because Other People). The only drawback is they stopped using paper bags WITH HANDLES, which is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. read more

This is my go-to grocery store. Typically I'd give this location 3 stars but I'm fighting to give it any right now. This year there seems to be something wrong. There are hardly any lanes open ever and the produce department is constantly empty of staples like carrots, celery, green beans, etc. forcing you to purchase organic versions at the price. Seems convenient... Today marks the worst experience thus far. To avoid the INSANE line backups at registers, I tried the scan, bag, go scanner for the second time. The first time was amazing and quick as I shop for 4 people every 2 weeks, mounting a cart of 100+ items. This time was a totally effing nightmare. All goes well in the scan and bag steps. I get to self checkout to scan my gun to leave as quickly as I can but NOPE. I stood in the 15 min long self checkout line to have my purchase totally void from the gun with help from an incompetent staff member who couldn't sort out how to do the scan. I watched her use my gun to void my transaction right in front of me. Lucky me! I'm currently writing this while standing in a standard line for 30 minutes. Pretty much done with this Freddy's after this evening. If you're a manager here, what in the actual sh*t is happening here? I went to pick up my prescription on Friday around 7pm. The whole process ended up taking close to 30 minutes, which in my opinion is too long. I used the drive through, which I thought would be quick. I ended up waiting in line, then when I finally got to the window I had to wait another 10 minutes before someone came to assist me. Once I got assistance, the staff was friendly. I guess I learned my lesson, just got inside to pick up your prescriptions-it likely will be faster. read more

Wow, well I wasn't going to leave a review until I saw other 1 star reviews about the pharmacy specifically. I FEEL SEEN HAHA. I normally go to the stadium location in NW, which is even dumpier than this one, so I'm not going to complain about a Fred Meyer being sketchy or unorganized - they all are in Portland. I recently got a staph infection and got a round of antibiotics, the stadium location didn't have it, so I had to come to this location. Picked it up, but accidentally lost one pill down the drain. So my doctor called in a single pill to this location. Got the text that it was ready. Showed up and the pharmacist said it was actually at the stadium one - which must have been an error, because nobody would willingly drive across town in rush hour for fun. Well, I needed to take it an hour ago, so I asked him to cancel it so I could get it now. So he reluctantly got on the phone with some attitude and cancelled it. I waited 10 min for him to come back and tell me that it was cancelled, but it won't be ready for me to pick up THERE for THREE HOURS. I asked him if he had the medication in stock. He said yes. I said you want me to come back in 3 hours for a single pill, that i need for a staph infection? I was the only person in line. He could have absolutely helped out. The dude seemed so petty and power-tripping. I said, okay, so you cancelled it, but now I have to wait 3 hours and you're saying I can't even go back to the Stadium location either because you refrained from telling me I'd have to wait 3 hours for a single pill that's within arms reach? The overall demeanor and attitude on this guy was ridiculous, it's like he wanted to be difficult for no reason at all. This place gives me invertigo - too much going on under one roof, but not in that Costco kinda good way. PROBLEMS UP FRONT (1) Personal: I'm one of those people who gets nauseous in places like Walmart, Kmart, Target, and anywhere else that mixes mass food with mass clothes shopping. It's not my fault - I didn't grow up with any of these, because my community banned them until Target arrived in the 90's. In fact, I've only been to the Mart's three times - it was overwhelming. If you're like me, you might wanna pop some Dramamine before you come here. No it's not that serious but if you come here against my advice: at your own risk! (2) Corporate Madness: too much crap - finding the jewels is like looking for a needle in a haystack. PROPS 1. Bling: my friend bought me a sexy gold anklet from here (maybe the other Fred's actually) and it didn't give me a green ring - turns out it was real 14k gold. It broke in Belize though and I haven't seen it since. 2. Sale Cart Score: In the back, there is a shopping cart full of sale items. I copped 4 Sonicare Pro replacement heads here for the price of one; them thangs aint cheap - 3 stars cause I'm grateful. 3. Major commercial makeup madness - nail polish is off the chain 4. Beer - really impressed with a few micro brews including this ice beer I bought in a special glass bottle - Some international Eisbeer/Ice Beer. Even after losing my mom - it stayed extremely cold. TIP: you can lose your mother in this store - take the escalator up for an areal search. Otherwise, be a geek and tell someone you lost your mom so they can PA her heheh - yes I did this last Christmas. Why such low reviews for this Freddies? This was my beautiful local market, back in the day. From door to door, couldn't have taken more than 3 mins to get to for me. I remember the exciting days, waiting for the construction to complete, in anticipation of what this nice newly revamped market was going to sport ( believe it reopened in 2005). Nursery outside for grabbing plants and whatnot during the warm months. Starbucks upstairs, with a whole retail section for home, clothes, etc...Downstairs sports the toiletries, lotions, make-up, and electronic items. A Fred Meyer jewelers inside too. Such a great spot for picking up the daily necessities. I always appreciated their wine sales and even like the organic lotion/lip balm section (which for some reason, is conveniently located near the wine), which i almost always swung by to grab a tester pump for hydrating the hand. Deli comes is super duper handy when the "no way I'm cookin' tonight" attitude sets in. I prefer Freddies over Safeway, and wish that I could shop exclusively at New Season's, but no way no how could afford that. The size of this place can be inconvenient if you want to get in/out quickly, as it's very large. Parking may not be the easiest either. US Bank affiliated with this spot. Directly outside of this is the Interstate/Lombard yellow line stop for the MAX. Don't think this market gets its fair rating. read more

I've never been more humiliated, then by this guy that worked in pharmacy today, I literally had chest pain, because of his tone, and condescending way of addressing a me a customer, I believe that maybe I was being discriminated because of my national origin, and because I have an accent, or does he talk with everyone like that, without being reprimanded. When I asked to speak with a manager because I feel uncomfortable with the way he talked with me, he said: "you will not speak with anyone but me, so that's all there is to it!" I want to start by saying any floor staff I've met, minus one who was just really dumb but still nice, we're all excellent. But the store itself seems to be run poorly. Either by whoever is here directly or the people over them I don't know. They are constantly out of basic things, the layout is all over the place (takes absolutely forever to find anything). And I'm 100% tired of paying for bags when the handles immediately break off. I lifted a bag that was half full of bread and chips from the self check to my line and a handle snapped off. So I switched everything to a new bag. Then when I was taking that bag out of my cart to put it in my car that handle snapped too. I know the handles are more a luxury than not but if you drop everything, twice in my case, it's embarrassing and annoying NOT a luxury. Get your shiz together Freddie'sz . I'm not sure why this Fred Meyer has such an overall poor rating. I made a switch to this store years ago because I was getting crummy produce from my last grocery store. The staff here is always so nice and never been anything but helpful to me. I love the way they almost never let large lines form at the check stands. Last week one of the checkers made my day with a small bundle of free flowers. They could have thrown out the flowers, but instead gave them to customers. Even today while I was shopping in the produce section I was offered a slice of watermelon. Amazing!!! Keep up the amazing work Freddies! read more

I do not recommend Fred Meyer. I was overcharged by over 50 dollars and unfortunately did not notice until I was home. I called the store for help and was told I would have to return to the store with the items to get it corrected. When I got to the store I was told the computer system was down and they could not help me. I then contacted the corporate company 3 days ago and have yet to have any response from them. I would expect a large corporation to have better customer service. I have no interest in shopping here anymore. read more

While waiting at the deli counter for service, an off-duty employee, "Nancie"*, accused an African-American woman, "Trish"*, of theft. Trish was eating a meat sample that the deli worker had given her after ordering some meat and cheese. Nancie was rude and smug and completely out of line. Trish minding her own business and was friendly and respectful until Nancie's racism triggered her. It turns out that Nancie is an employee at the Interstate Fred Meyer. When I spoke to a manager, they said that Nancie was off the clock, so is just "another normal person shopping." Trish was approached by security when she went to the produce section. She was having to defend her statements and was surrounded by large men. Nothing she said or did was in any way threatening. Nobody from management or security spoke to Nancie, who started it all. I guess that means that her racist behavior is supported by the management of that store. That is too bad for the POC that work and/or shop there. * Names changed read more

If you want to see a dumpster fire of a location for Fred Meyers, this is the location to go to. I can't count the number of times I have come here and they are out of basic items or employees who don't know where products are at. I came in today and they are remodeling still and out of stock of a bunch of items including ice cream and pizza. I make a selection of what little they have. I go to self checkout and there is two open lanes. Cashier standing at the front as I approach what looks to be open and turned on machines. They weren't, she was aware of it and said nothing. Great customer service. I'm over coming to this location and will go to the Fred Meyer by the university. They have a bigger selection and a better staff. Don't waste your time here. read more

Just like the Freddie's on North Lombard and the one on SE Hawthorne, this location easily meets the standards one could want when shopping at this location. The majority of the people who work at this location are friendly, helpful, and understand the needs of customers despite a few employees being rude towards anyone, even fellow co-workers. Like both locations mentioned, this Freddie's is well-stocked, clean, and many customers leave satisfied. However, there are many flaws at this location (very much like the one on North Lombard) that could be addressed if management considers hiring new people. In no particular order: -Restrooms always smelling like piss. During one visit to this location, I wanted to run out because the smell was so bad and tell someone at customer service. -Rude employees running the self checkout lines and/or the customer service line. All employees should always work as a team instead of having a handful of disgruntled workers interacting with people. -Poor security management of the store. Sure some security guards work in a professional manner as they should always be, but some could use a review of what is required from them as security guards. -The seating area next to the Starbucks always never being clean. I mean some parts are always clean, but much of the seating area is never kept clean and should always be cleaned often. read more

I really love you guys (meaning your employees). I was there during the dark days of the Kroger buy out, the endless renovations that you couldn't get quite right, the inability/unwillingness to prosecute shoplifters, the bathrooms used for heroin overdoses, etc., the endless trash in the parking lots, etc. I will cut Freddie's (meaning their employees some serious slack) because you are the BEST thing that this store has going for it. I've been trying to pick up a prescription I sent here specifically because of their drive thru but every time I call to confirm the drive us open they say although it ya drive they're hours of operation the drive thru is closed because they're under staffed. Employees are friendly enough and the location is very convenient. Parking is hit or miss, there are a lot of spots available but the roads are fairly small so you might have to park far away from an entrance. Well the store can't control the clientele. It is worth noting that there is a fairly consistent presence of transient folks at this location. I've never been accosted or approached by anyone or felt legitimately nervous , but it's worth noting if you're here at night or alone when walking to or from your car or the MAX/bus line. read more

I refuse to shop at this Fred Meyer not only because the parking lot sucks, but because their loss prevention is incredibly over the top. The past five times I've been here, I've seen it get progressively worse; security guards hovering over you, a police officer stationed outside, and greeters asking to check your receipt. Last time, I refused to show them my receipt as I was carrying two bags and wasn't going to juggle my purchases for such nonsense. It seems like they've completely stopped trying with this store. It's pretty sad, I've been shopping here since it was all shiny and clean and brand new. Things seem to have really gone downhill in the last few months. They now have only two checkout lines open and a bunch of U-Scans, with a line snaking around blocking the aisles, and only one attendant taking care of the 12 self serve registers. The loss prevention here is intense. Cameras everywhere, off duty cops looking tough up front. I stopped buying toothpaste and shampoo here because most of that stuff is in a separate section and has to be purchased as a separate transaction. Even the steaks have a tag that sets off the buzzer at the door. The parking lot is full of carts everywhere but none in the store. Not specific to this store, but take pics of the sale tags when you buy stuff, and pay attention as it rings up. It'll save you time when at least two of your items scan at the wrong price. It's my closest store, but has become a store of last resort lately. read more

It's funny that so many people seem to get bad vibes here (see other reviews). I'm not saying this place is Disneyland, but compared to the grim, someone-ran-over-my-cat, I-hate-my-job looks at Jantzen Beach Target this place seems almost cheerful. Really not a bad place to find all the random stuff we need for the house (world's better than shopping at one of the something-marts). Food-wise it's no Costco, TJs, New Season's, or Uwajimaya but for 10 for $10 microwave meals or last minute avocados it's fine. Customer service here is a mixed bag, they only seem to be able to locate half the items (it's usually quicker for me to just find them myself). The lone bright spot though is the sweet elderly lady who's greets and goodbyes people at the front (this is purely speculative, but were someone to attempt a heist it'd be yoda-episode-II cool to see her subdue them with a glock and some jujitsu). My two main gripes are: One, the lack of staffed open registers. There's really no reason there should ever be a line here, and yet there always is. Two, and note this isn't necessarily Freddie's fault, the unusually large population of totally oblivious shoppers that make certain aisles look like I-5 at rush hour. fred meyer interstate jewelers are pretty fu*ked up they lie to get the sale and promise to get your item ordered back in plenty of time for a big event. "they will be back 2 weeks early, so no worries". the day comes to go pick it up and the employee, alix shreffler lies to us, telling us it has been shipped but it is stuck in india and will be here by the weekend (1 week later than originally promised). we wait for the weekend we call this time instead of going there so as not to waste another trip. once again it is not in and another lie comes out of her telling us it will definately be here tomorrow. at this point i am done with the game alix seems to be playing. so i ask to speak with her manager kathy, the manager kathy apologizes and makes another promise. this time the manager kathy makes a guarantee that it will be here by monday which is valentines day, the day after the big event that i need this item for and that she will overnight it any where i needed it to go. i told her i just need it there at the store so i can have some one pick it up, since the event has had to be changed well now here it is monday so i call and i ask to speak to manager kathy, and wtf do i get told. its not here and wont be here till maybe tomorrow. wtf? people don't waste your time with fred meyer jewelers, they are nothing but a bunch of liars. still waiting............. read more

Two main things you need to know before pulling your car into this mega-lot: 1.) You might not ever find an open parking spot, unless you blatantly break the handicapped/fire lane parking rules, or in desperation, maybe even bunny hop onto the sidewalk at the front doors... 2.) Once in, you might not ever find your way OUT of this lot...which must be why it's always so congested here (and hence, why #1 is true). They poured boo-coup bucks into developing the upstairs of this place. Can it possibly have been worth it? It's a jumbled mess up there, and good luck finding any staff who will make eye contact with you, and then, know where to find that which you are fruitlessly searching..... Oh, Lombard Fred Meyer. You're so... Lombard-y. With your socioeconomically-diverse clientele, heavy security and always-packed parking lot. I don't visit you too often, but when I do I generally find what I need. The staff here is mostly helpful, but display the weariness of employees that have to deal with a Lombard crowd often. I really do not get the whole negative vibe thing that a lot of people here are going on about, but that could be because I'm from Detroit. You want a negative vibe? I'll see you at the Walmart on the corner of 8 Mile and Ryan. Anyhow, I actually live closer to the New Seasons just down the way, but this is definitely my grocery store of choice mostly due to the incredible price differentiation. Your buck gets far more bang at Fred Meyer as compared to New Seasons, and unless you're fat with cash it makes no sense to do your entire grocery regimen at the New Seasons. Another factor that might be upping my rating a bit is that I don't have a car and I don't have to deal with the monstrosity that is the parking lot. I do agree that it probably needs to be swept more than it is, and the fact that it's basically being used as a park n' ride for the MAX is probably what causes most of the congestion issues since it's a pretty big slab of pavement. I found the staff here to be reasonably pleasant. I mean, they weren't sing-song the whole day long, but nobody snubbed me and I got asked if I needed assistance once or twice along the way. The grocery selection is well-priced and quite expansive. It's not a WalMart or a WinCo in terms of price, but it's certainly within the realm of affordable. The produce here isn't quite up to the produce at New Seasons or a local farmer's market, but there's a lot of it and you can usually find a few pieces that aren't too sad-looking. As long as you're somewhat flexible with your produce needs, you can find them here. (Example: first time I went, the romaine lettuce looked like hell so I bought the red-leaf... next time it was the inverse. I don't really care so much, though - as long as there's some sort of serviceable lettuce that isn't iceburg in a bag, I'm down to clown.) Another great thing about Fred Meyer's is that this place also has an expansive hardware, plant nursery, home furnishings, toiletries, and books section. There's a Starbucks up top if you need a bit of java to juice your shopping endeavors. The rewards card is a good way to save money. Heck, you can even get jewelry here. So, this place has a lot of everything under stereotypical dim warehouse lights. Is it a place I'd want to hang out for hours on end? No. Is it a place where I can get what I need at a good price? Dude, what's the deal with this Fred Meyer? It stresses me out every time I go there. Here's the thing: I live smack dab in the middle between the tiny St. Johns Freddies and this big huge Freddies. Normally I like to go to the one in St. Johns, but sometimes, only sometimes, I need some of the wares that this one supplies. One star for the fabulous fish counter. I use the term "fabulous" loosely here, this is no New Seasons. However, there is a wide selection of fish, fresh and frozen, prawns, oysters, crab, etc. The St. Johns store does not have a fish counter, and I like me some fish. Hence, one of the reasons I would visit the Interstate F.M. One star for the big garden center. I swear, every time I come here, my yard gets a little bit more flowery and crowded. However, the staff doesn't really seem to know about a lot of the things in the garden center... this is no Portland Nursery. Minus one star for the always full parking lot. What? Everyone in North Portland uses this place for a park-and-ride? Ohhhhhh, now I get it. Minus one star for the always harried deli staff. Why are the guys at the fish counter so nice and helpful and the ladies at the deli counter so "who was next? what do you want? you know I'll have to slice that? you know that costs $8.99 a pound?"
