This place has some amazing employees but also the most racist prejudice employees I've experienced at any Fred Meyers here considering it being a store that has a lot of diverse costumers . I was shopping and standing in line when I noticed a Hispanic mother and daughter having their items rung up by an African American cashier who just had the nastiest attitude towards them and didn't even greet them. She looked like she honestly hated her job . I am also Hispanic so I understand Spanish myself. I am the costumer right behind this duo. I overhear the mother tell her daughter something in Spanish that has nothing to do with the cashier and the cashier looks at them disgusted and says "speak English were in America" I was in disbelief. I couldn't believe these words came out of this lady's mouth and most importantly a Fred Meyer's employee. It isn't over there . The mother replied with "I don't need to do anything I'm speaking to my daughter not you" the cashier drops all of the lady's things she just ring up and said "mmm mmm not today" called another cashier over to re scan all of her things again. This Fred Meyer at 72nd and Pacific in Tacoma, is the worst grocery store in the world. It has gone downhill in every way for about 2 years now. Long, slow lines (the trainee store), higher prices, their system crashes (as it did today), confusing sales info, I could go on and on. I will not shop here again. My experience with the folks working at the customer service have never been a pleasant one. The ppl are always rude. Rolling your eyes at a customer is uncalled for. Speaking in a disrespectful tone is also uncalled for. Please train your ppl how to deal with customers, if they are to interact with customers! I highly support Fred Meyer's especially this location as they are close my home. The prices are fine as far as I'm concerned, and sometimes quality is way better than quantity:) I tend to always have GREAT service, except for maybe the self-service clerk, lol'... but I would hate that job too because I swear those machines act up ALL at the same time, then everyone is breathing down the clerks back!!! I hate to shop around for groceries and other such things and Freddie's always has what we need. The checkers at this location have gotten increasingly snotty. I was putting my groceries on the belt, turned around and put my keys, with the club card, on top of the front item, and continued to unload my cart. The clerk watched me do it. At the end of her scanning my items, she asked if I had a club card, I said I gave it to you, she looked me right in the face and said I wondered why you put your keys on there... Really? Really? Really? Well, I had my own bags and she put my groceries in them, but when I got home I found a package of meat in the same bag with bread and other foods meant to be eaten without cooking. It would have been ok if the meat was flat on the bottom, but she put it on its side, and there was meat juice (I know it's not blood) all over the other items in the bag. I probably wouldn't be so aggravated if this same scenario hadn't happened the week before, with raw hamburger being put on top of uncooked food. Moral of the story? False advertisements all around the store, purposely mislabeled products on the shelves, and they do not stand behind the price. Deceptive practices in marketing, online coupons that do not work and the ability to use the app for those coupons in store is next to impossible. The discount club card has no prompt to use when checking out. The cashiers do not ask for it. There are about six different dishonest misrepresentations about pricing that can happen with this company, but this location in particular has a bunch of items out with a tag for about 5.59 with no other stipulations but when you go to the check out, even with the card working it is ten bucks. You express concern about it, go to the shelf with a representative where it is clearly shown that the shelf is full of 30-50 of this product labeled at that price multiple times and she points out to an itty bitty tag that says there is a shortage and it is out of stock even though it is clearly there and the item on the price label and she treats you like a crook while they have either mispriced an item or put a sale out too early or too late, and you lose a customer. FRED MEYERS, YOU NEED TO PRESENT THE CORRECT PRICES FOR YOUR PRODUCTS. YOU NEED TO HONOR THE PRICES ON THE SHELF WHEN THEY ARE CLEARLY REFERRING TO THE PRODUCT PRESENTED. I was so sad that this place has such poor customer service. The only friendly person there was the security guard/ greeter. He's the only person that was friendly and smiled at us our entire time in the store. Everyone from the cashier, deli workers to the random workers down the isles, looked bothered and unhappy. The girl in the deli didn't ask if I wanted my sandwich grilled, toasted or even warmed up, (like they usually do) she looked so unhappy the whole time while giving us our food. The cashier another young lady didn't ask to look up my phone number when I told her I left my card at home, didn't even bother to check for coupons or give us a deal. (Another thing they do! I like this for my shopping. I can get a belt and bananas and ice cream all in the same store. Or shoes or gardening supplies. The cashiers are friendly. Just DON'T get the bbq ribs!@!! One day I was in the store and you had a guy in the deli putting the price stickers on the bbq ribs thigh bear hands the sneezed in his hands and keep applying the stickers. I about threw up. Avoid the gas here, it's terrible quality! I have an older car & filled up on premium here. Later my car started to have more trouble than usual getting up hills, but I thought it was just time to visit the shop. I ended up filling my tank a 2nd time at this FM & that's when my car really started to act up. I thought it was going to break down, it jerked & hesitated like crazy. I happen to shop here several times a week if not more, only because I live a block away. I spend tons of money here. They should know me by name by now (like THAT is ever going to happen!). I'm an honest guy with an honest paycheck and cash in my pocket. But because during the colder months I wear a puffy black $200 down jacket, they seem to often watch me like a hawk! It really pisses me off, and is quite offensive. I've wanted to talk the the Manager about it, but he's an idiot himself. At least the ones I've talked to, and their "P.I.C." (Person In Charge) is always some rude, inconsiderate person. Sure, I could shop anywhere on the planet, but go there because it's super close and their grocery items are a good price IF they are on sale! I hate how they put more meat in their meat packages than a pound. You can't find ANY meats at so much per pound where it actually sells for that per-pound price, they are ALL over because they put in more. What a trick to make extra money!!! Another thing I noticed are how many orange sale tags on shelves are expired. I've actually pulled out my digital camera and took pictures of lots of their expired tags!!! I even found one sign on an end cap saying "Sale Price" was such and such, and thinking that seemed higher than other stores, walked up to the sign to see how much their regular price was. To my amazement, I found this one sign saying "Sale Price $15.99 and below that it said "Regular Price $15.99, you save ZERO"!!! WHAT is THAT all about? I sent tons of pictures to all the news media and Better Business Bureau because of their deceptive advertising and leaving expired price tags on shelves! KOMO 4 was actually going to walk in the store with cameras and interview the Manager but never did. So, my warnings to you are: 1. Don't wear puffy coats or you'll notice the same employees magically appear around every corner, even if you have a shopping cart filled to the top! 2. Look closely at orange sale price tags! They might be expired. 3. Don't buy "fresh" garlic there, because 90% of the time it's brown inside. So yes, I'll continue to shop here only because I live so close, but will forever feel like they just don't care about REAL customer service and are always out to trick the customer with expired sale tags or overstuffed "per pound" meats. read more

I shop at the Fred Meyers on 72nd. Some of the checkers are ok but there a couple of them that bring down the rest. In particular, an employee named Jared is a constant problem. If you should dare to ask a question or just look at him he try's to fend you off with a look that makes it clear that he's not there to help. On my latest visit I asked him why why he behaves this way and with a completely annoyed voice he basically let it be known that I was imagining it. When I got home I told my roommate about the it and he quickly asked " was it Jared". That should tell you all you need to know. I plan to switch to Wal-Mart it's further but much cheaper. read more

I have only shopped at this Fred Meyer location and have only used their pick-up. With that said, it was the best experience I have had using the pick-up. Both times I arrived a little early, but when I called they let me know that my order was ready and within minutes they were at my car. Both times most of the items I ordered were in stock, and the first time EVERYTHING was available. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially during these fragile times. From what I read, most of the unfavorable reviews were from inside the store...try the pick up! read more

Yes, I like it here. The cashiers are great because they are usually friendly and funny and seem to be a "family". They have worked here for what seems like forever (I moved to Seattle and back and still remember their faces). It is always clean and well staffed but what I like the most is that they have a nice bulk, organic fruit/veggies, vegan, vegetarian and gluten free sections! Who would've thunk it? This review is Just for Fred Meyer furniture, as I would give Fred Meyer as a whole 3 stars. This is not just a one-time experience as I have had quite a few furniture sets from Fred Meyer. Primarily their recliner couch sets which begin to break down and fall around within a month or so. Now Fred Meyer managers have been helpful as they let me return entire sets every couple months, 3 times in a 6 month period. As well as send repair guys from the furniture factory its self. The recliners are so cheap that after a few uses they either break or recline all the way back, even if you want to sit up. They backs are to week so you just lay all the way back on the couches, or on the chair you literally flip all the way back and fall off the chair. (Even after having all pieced replaced 3 times with new ones and after repair guys would come out and fix. So after about 3-4 months I started asking Fred Meyer to stop selling this brand of couch as they are all crappy. (Not only my opinion as the city dumps and Good will stores are full of these couches and chairs. Anyways they managers would tell me that they would work on this issue as other customers also complain. Six months later they still are selling the same sets so I complain again, a year later, still same sets, and now two years later after my entire set has already been taken to the dump Not even worth giving away as all the padding wears out within months, and springs will start falling out after just a few uses.) I have given Fred Meyer many examples and warnings about the quality and even dangers of this furniture. (Their claim is that it is a locally owned company when that company only assembles the furniture after getting the parts from China. Long story short, Fred Meyer is selling horrible furniture which falls apart after just months of use, and is not even useable. Its very sad nothing has been done about this as I continually see this furniture at the local dumps every month. Two years and a lot of time and suffering over this furniture I am now going to do more to stop this injustice. (Also know that I paid $1,600 for this set on sale, its usually more) It should last longer than a year or two. I will start by posting reviews everywhere I can. I also plan to make a video and share it on my video channels that have a ton of viewer. (Over a million) I doubt Fred Meyer will step up and give me my money back, and I dont expect them to as they would go broke refunding everyone that has been ripped off over this furniture. I just want Fred Meyer to stop selling this furniture! Its as simple as that, there are a ton of local and national companies that make great furniture that would love to sell their stuff in Fred Meyer stores. I love Fred Meyer. It's one of the things I missed most about living on the East Coast. But we seriously need to talk about those beeping camera that are located by high-priced merchandise. The high-pitched chirping may deter theft, but it also deters me. I was ready to buy an electric toothbrush from you, but the beeping while I was trying to compare two models drove me totally nuts. I bought a toothbrush later that day at Best Buy, where I was free to compare brands and models, beep-free. I have never been technically diagnosed as being on the Autistic spectrum, but it would not surprise me if this is a complaint that many others share. It can still beep, I understand that that is part of the design but less frequently would help. read more

I usually go here to use Western Union. The customer service center has the rudest and grumpies reps helping people. I witnessed the lady at the counter talk so rudely to an elderly man, and then wanted to have an attitude when I needed to pick money up. They need to change their reps in this department. This is pretty much the closest store to my house... The employees are always pretty nice here and always seem to know where stuff is located at etc... I enjoy coming here due to the fact that it's close to my house and the store carries almost everything. It's classier than a Wal-Mart for instance and less busy. Their store brand food products are also good. Their deli department can make you a great, fresh sandwich for $4.99. The only downfall is that their parking lot can get pretty full at times. read more

We will continue to shop here because it's close to our house. However we will no longer use the deli. There are always so many flies on the cutting equipment. We had cheese sliced and it had pieces of deli meat stuck to it. They do not clean the cutters in between use. Also note, they've changed their hours. They are now only open until 10pm. read more

Fred Meyer was recommended by our real estate lady in August of 2015. I'm from California and wasn't familiar with the store. The prices are fair and the customer service is good. I wanted to purchase a beautiful "live edge" dining table from the University Place Fred Meyer, but they did not have the table or matching bench in stock (and didn't think they'd get any more). They called around and found there was one table at this Fred Meyer (Pacific Ave). I went immediately to purchase it...but unfortunately, they only had the table & not the bench. The manager of Home Goods, Nick, checked to see when they'd receive more in (thank you for doing that!). He said it would be in another week and a half. He graciously took my name and number and said he'd call when the bench arrived. Two days later, he left a message that one bench arrived (woo hoo!). When I drove to the store that evening, Nick not only honored the sale price from 2 days prior, but he also gave me another 10% off since I had to wait. THIS is the epitome of customer service! I shop at this Fred Meyers location weekly sometimes more. Every now and then I get profiled. It's annoying. I've even gone back in the store to pay for items in the bottom rack of my shopping cart that the check out clerk missed!!'And you profile me???This new bring your mind own bags is horrible when it comes to race related issues. Yep that's what I calling it. So today this non brown and black guy was stuffing alcohol in his shopping bags. He looked suspicious. I hesitated going down the same isle he was in but I wanted to grab a bottle of champagne. It's my 31st wedding anniversary. Well the next thing I know this police officer comes flying back to same location and as I'm moving on to look for pepperoni for my hubby I look up and his staring at me!! I move to the chip section and again I look up and there he is. So, I called my hubby and he said I should say something- that's what I did. So I told the clerk standing at the door what happened and that I wanted to speak to the police officer. She called him and he came right out to talk to me. In all respect for our Law enforcement, I explained what happened. He said if that happened it wasn't "intentional" and blew me off. No my apology - nothing. It was obvious he was guilty. To make things worse one of the store Managers or Store Security person was standing next to me is making fun of this elderly lady who was clearly wearing her pajamas. I guess she was trying to make me laugh? I saw nothing funny. Bless that ladies heart. That might have been the only thing she had to wear. I'm so disappointed in that Police Officer and the management at 72nd Fred Meyers. Now I'll keep shopping there because it's convenient. This has been the Fred Meyer that I have gone to for 10 years. It has seen its changes through out the years, but friendly staff, affordable prices and cleanliness have always been the strong points of this store. Also, I absolutely love the garden shop, but my favorite thing about the store in Fuchsia Saturday. This is where I get all of my hanging baskets made. I have talked smack about Fred Meyer for a long time, probably because I was turned down for a job from them about 15 years ago. However I have been converted. I decided to look at their coupons in the ad instead of just throwing them away and I thought, hmm, that's a pretty good price for butter and I do need butter. So I grabbed my envelope of coupons and went coupon shopping at FM for the first time ever. WOW I am converted. I spent way way less on groceries in comparison to Haggen or Safeway. I will not use Winco anymore because I feel like I am going to get caught in the middle of a gang fight every time I go there, and Walmart is just insane all the time. Even though FM was busy, it was a Sunday, they had almost every register open. I went again a week later on a Monday and it wasn't busy at all. I thought the cashier was friendly. My only complaints are they don't really have all the different brands of things but their store brand is pretty good, and their parking lot is pretty awful, unless you park way over on the 72nd street side. I haven't read all the reviews other people have left so I really don't know why they are getting bad reviews. I like it. read more

Fred Meyer in it self is an ok store. And boy they have lots of security waiting by the entrance way and outside. But it's understandable when you have two different banks in the vicinity and it is also located in the east side of Tacoma( meaning crime rate is high). The only bad thing I can say about this place is about the Starbucks inside the store. Me and my sister went to Fred Meyer to drop off a couple of movies at the redbox and decided to get some coffee. Never once did this barista smile at us or even acknowledge us with a hello. She looks like she has a miserable life. She took our order and plop our coffee on the counter after she was done. Sometimes a smile is all you need for good customer service. I've never had any issue with any Starbucks barista except the ones in Fred Meyer. read more
