This is one happy hummingbird at the garden center at Fred Meyers. It's been there constantly since this spring

Always a good place to shop for groceries--the coupons and gas savings add up to my benefit with timing and attention. Clean, bright store with ample parking. My fav departments for groceries: --frozen veggies and fruits --deli for hummus --produce--big organic selection here --beers--lots of NW choices Not food, but always great: --garden center--hummingbirds hang out from spring to early fall --bird section --kitchenware --two for one sock deals Service is fine and consistent (four years worth of data at this point) Life is good here!

A wide aisled produce section that felt very fresh

Yeah, it's been a while since I Yelped. Gee, I wonder why? I finally made it out of my home and on this day ventured to the Fred Meyer store that wasn't close to me. Not even sure why, but so glad that I did. I had gotten used to dirty, poorly staffed FM stores that make you want to get in and out as fast as you can even if there wasn't a global pandemic going on. But this Freddie store is different. Firstly, it's located in an upscale mini mall sort of spot with all kinds of other niche stores. The stores surround plenty of parking in a nicely green parking lot that is freeway adjacent. They even have EV charging stations. Once inside this rather large version of FM, it's refreshingly clean and filled with employees who actually seem to give a dam about the customer. Not only do the employees care, but they know their store and where to find what you're looking for. And where I had gotten used to the lack of needed products in my other FM stores (can anyone say Clorox wipes?), this version of FM seemed to be fully stocked, yes even down to the oh so necessary cleaning supplies and TP. It had all the regular departments but they shined a little brighter than I've ever seen in a FM store. They had fresh cut flowers and a wide variety of house plants that actually looked presentable and the usual clothing and shoe sections that once again, just felt nicer than any other FM store I've been to in the Vancouver area. There was even a mini Starbucks nestled into the store exuding those wonderful coffee smells. Even the clientele seemed nicer, every one appeared to be wearing their masks and keeping their social distance from fellow shoppers with polite consent. As I wandered thru the aisles of the store, I wondered why I had never been here before. Shopping here was a pleasure, something I can't very often say about shopping at Fred Meyer, I will definitely be back.

They have scan and go here!

Great store, good location, Blink EV fast charging outside (CHAdeMO port only, no CCS). Store has complimentary WiFi, Scan and Go and is fully integrated with the Fred Meyer app so you can see exactly which aisle number has the product that you need to find. Plenty of parking outside, restrooms were clean when I went to visit, all in all a 5 out of 5 experience. Would return and already have.

Biggest and best Freddy's and easy to stop at on the way home on 14 or I-5. Tough to park there, though!

It is larger than other ones, and was pretty chill for the time of day that we stopped in. I felt like I had plenty of time to browse through the aisles and pick up all the seasonal items, it was strawberry season, as well as the staples. The aisles were clean and organized. The staff was busy and friendly. It was a great experience with easy parking. This will be a new stop when we are in the area.

Instead of putting the two gallons of milk in a bag, he bagged my coconut water and small bottle of carrot juice. I even had to ask for a bag in the first place, which is unusual because the staff normally offer one. I'm not someone who complains often, but I had just finished the gym, was tired, and wanted to get in and out. Instead, I ended up struggling to carry everything to my car because an employee couldn't use basic common sense to do his job. I'll still be coming to this location because I know the standards Trader Joe's usually has, but this experience didn't reflect them at all. Hopefully this was just a one-time mistake and he does better next time. Otherwise, I'll start going to the Trader Joe's by Kohl's instead. Do better.

They have these wonderful Eastern European pastries, and I have a serious weakness for their strawberry vatrushka. I'm not exaggerating when I say I think about it at night. It has the same effect on me as a really good scone with clotted cream, I have absolutely no self-control around it. I also love that I can walk in intending to get one thing and somehow leave with a bag full of things I didn't plan on buying. Fresh-baked bread, Obviously. A little dessert, Sure. Some fruit or vegetables, Why not. Snacks, drinks, charcuterie items? Suddenly I'm grocery shopping.whoops. The people are a huge part of why we keep coming back. The owner and everyone who works here are incredibly kind, and there's a genuine warmth to the place that makes it feel like one of those neighborhood spots you want to see stick around. Our favorite part of our little Sunday routine is then going to get coffee next door. If you're not close to Camas, they also have a presence at the Vancouver Farmers Market, so you can still get your fix.

And I probably left ~$10 savings on the table by buying the brands I preferred. The store is never a mess and the people working here are consistently good. It feels like a "we're in this together" kind of environment where we want to buy groceries and the workers seem to want to facilitate that, and then everyone goes on with their lives. I can say for 100% certain that this is the least financially predatory supermarket I know of. Produce is the biggest example. When stuff is in season, you can tell they buy a ton of it and try to turn it over fast and cheap. Very good quality limes were $0.25 today. I don't even think bubble gum machines cost that much anymore. But I also worked in retail and can tell they do the same with dry goods as well. They look for good deals like we do, and instead of using some complex algorithm that gets their CEO an extra million, they just make sure they're making enough money, and if they are, they often give people the opportunity to buy stuff cheap. The loyalty programs at other stores will never earn my loyalty like a grocery store operating in a neighborly way will.
