This is store is had pretty much been our 'go to' store now-a-days but ... Parking. It sucks. Big time. All the time. The whole complex is oversaturated with businesses and not even close to enough parking. We used to frequent but now we go to the Safeway (Andresen & Mill Plain) more often just to not have to deal with the chaos of the Grand Central parking lot. Otherwise: The produce section is ... awesome. Good quality and they keep it up well. There always seems to be two produce staff maintaining it. I'd say it's even the #1 produce place in Clark County. Chuck's Produce has a bigger selection, but the quality of Freddie's is higher. The deli section is ... NOT awesome. First off, they have two poor staff facing the onslaught of hungry, impatient people just off work. Next, where do you freakin' stand? It's a moving mass of humanity hoping to catch the overworked deli staff's eyes. Oh crap - she looked left instead of right where I was standing - that just cost me another 10 minutes; lovely. Get some stanchions so everybody knows where to stand and add another staff from 5PM to 7PM to handle the crush. One last ding of the deli: the cold & hot deli offerings are not up to the caliber of the store and location. It looks like foodservice heat-it-up Stouffers and the like. Cheap corn dogs, jo jos, etc. The really need to look at how New Seasons/Zupan's approaches a modern NW deli. Elevated deli offerings, upscale, etc. The gentleman (Jim S.) in the Electronics is awesome. Great customer service all the time. Love that guy! You need to clone him and give 'em a big raise! This is the new Fred Meyer store at Grand Central Mall -- It replaced the old store at 4th Plain and Grand. C-Tran buses 3-A (clockwise) and 3-B (counter-clockwise) serve this location from downtown, but they only run every 40 minutes Mon-Sat, and every hour on Sunday. Fred Meyer has no-nonsense pricing, coherent receipts, and non-deceptive price-sign/product placement. Although they do have a shopping card, it's not "tied" to pricing, as is stated on their sign-up form. I really like the self check-out machines at Freddie's (and their sister company QFC), (also the self check-out machines at this Albertson's www.yelp.com/biz/albertsons-sav-on-vancouver ) so at my leisure I can confirm that each item rings up at the price I expect, at my own pace, before I choose to continue on with the next item (crooked grocery stores do not deploy self check-out machines, which would easily reveal their fraud, "before" your payment). Store hours are 7 days; 7am-11pm. I am not associated with any grocery store. But start taking (cell phone or digital camera) pictures, and the they'll scatter like cockroaches -- after which the harassment will increase to more extreme methods. It would help to have trusted friends watching out for you, and taking pictures, lots of well documented pictures, with clear pictures of their faces, and trust me, they'll come completely unglued. Pretty darn upscale. Especially for the 'couve. I go here for deli sandwiches at lunch 'cause it's convenient and reasonable. Any of the panini sandwiches are good. if you're a regular, make sure to get a sandwich card(buy 7 get one free) It's close to work for me, and I love the convenience of being able to grab a bottle of hooch, a bag of vegetables, and mustard that we're out of before I drive home. also SU-Th, make sure you visit Tiane in the self check out lane. she's friendly, helpful, and fun. read more

Not my favorite Fred Meyer. Generally, I'd say they all get 5 stars because no other grocery store has their level of customer service. However, this one is just...Meh. Some guy followed me around trying to get me to sign up for a credit card even after I said no thank you. Get a clue and bug someone else. He asked far too many personal questions as well. read more

I have been using the Battle Ground WA Fred Meyer ever since it opened. And it seems that nearly every time I do, I have to return to the store to get a refund for an over charge. I have gotten so frustrated with it that I even wrote Kroger (Fred Meyer) about the issue and was given "written" assurance that the problems would be corrected. That was in 2019 and since then the problems have continued to persist. For example, tonight, I went to Fred Meyer to buy some things. They had Betty Crocker Chocolate Chip Cook mix on sale for 10 for $10.00. I picked up three packages. They also had Fred Meyer Distilled bottled water on sale for $2.49 a case. The cases were placed "RIGHT ABOVE" the price tag. (See image). Discounts were applied but still did not reduce the price to advertised prices. The stores Customer Service counter was closed for the afternoon and evening. While this example of just today's shopping trip is only for about $2.00 or so, it is but an ongoing perpetually dishonest condition at Fred Meyers. Factor in the cost of fuel to return to the store to deal with the over charges and it gets expensive. Fred Meyer's is cheating its customers and that is a fact. If you shop at this location, DOUBLE CHECK EVERYTHING on your receipt. Chances are you too were over charged for something. Fred Meyer, you owe me a refund, again. Fred Meyer is more expensive than Whole Foods! Amazing, but true. Champagne like Veuve Clicquot is $5 more expensive at Fred Meyer than at Whole Foods. At present, Parmigiano-Reggiano is $18/lb at Fred Meyer and $16/lb at Whole Foods. To make matters worse, the products sold at Fred Meyer are of dubious quality. I bought some Parmigiano-Reggiano at Fred Meyer a few weeks ago and when I unwrapped it at home, I was surprised at the rubbery yellow tasteless lump of cheese I got. I'm a cheese aficionado and love Parmigiano-Reggiano; I have even toured a factory outside Bologna, Italy so I know what Parmigiano-Reggiano is supposed to look and taste like. Where were the characteristic markings on the rind? Where were the calcium crystals that dot a properly aged Parm? This wedge from Fred Meyer that bore its name certainly did not pass muster. I returned that night to Fred Meyer to return the cheese I had bought. The employee kept insisting it was indeed the genuine article, so I asked to see the wheel that it was cut from. Then the employee said it may have been mislabeled and finally refunded me the cost of the "cheese", but did nothing to reassure me that it was in fact Parmigiano-Reggiano. The label for Parmigiano-Reggiano was also erroneously labeled "DOC" or Denominazione di Origine Controllata, a Protected Geographical Status label used only for wines in Italy. Italian cheese is protected by Denominazione d'Origine Protetta (DOP). Therefore, technically, they could claim they are not actually misrepresenting some ordinary cheese as Parmigiano-Reggiano. Genuine Parmigiano-Reggiano has to come from a region in Northern Italy and its quality assured by the Consorzio Parmigiano-Reggiano. The genuine article also bears the characteristics mentioned above, as well as other hallmarks that authenticate its provenance. Perhaps the cheese I got from Fred Meyer was erroneously labeled as "Parmigiano-Reggiano" or perhaps it was a lower-quality of Parm than what I'm used to. It's not only the food at Fred Meyer that is expensive, but also other products sold there. The KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer is $299 at Fred Meyer, after a "price reduction." But this is the everyday price at Williams-Sonoma, the high-end home goods retailer. Everybody thinks that Fred Meyer is cheap, but actually they are not. If you buy cheap items (e.g., Korbel) and pay less for it than for a quality product (e.g.,Veuve Cliquot), are you getting a deal? No. Items like the Parm cheese, Veuve Cliquot and KitchenAid mixer are the same price or more expensive at Fred Meyer than at other stores. This is the real comparison. So when comparing oranges to oranges and apples to apples, Fred Meyer is more expensive than other retailers. read more

Agree with John E. 100%. This is better than your average FM. While staying at a friend's house this past weekend, we walked down here to get some breakfast fixins we were missing. I hadn't been in this (relatively) new location before, but had driven by many times. As far as what we actually got, 8 strips of bacon from the deli and the (usually) expensive high quality, non-concentrate orange juice. Grand total: just under $6. That's pretty freaking good. What really drew my attention was their wine selection. It is damn impressive. The costs are decent (less than you'll pay at a restaurant, probably slightly more than you'll pay online). But their selection is pretty amazing. It is up there with New Seasons' selection. They have a ton of Walla Walla wines (which I happen to be partial to), dessert wines, international wines, etc., etc. Above average FM--wouldn't have any problem going here again (and likely will). read more

Bad fruit selection and there fruit flies everywhere. I have rarely seen such bad, outdated fruit from a Freddie's. The apples were in good shape as they were what was in season, but so many other things were over-ripe. I was not able to buy any fruit at all this visit other than apples. I normally buy grapes, berries, apples, and bananas. Their baked goods were also not as fresh as I would have liked. I have never been to a Freddie's that wasn't immaculate. This is a great store but there's a lady in the deli who faded us for not making food at home. "Does nobody cook at home anymore.." we were getting fried chicken for a picnic.. I told her it was hot so we didn't wanna cook then she told me off about how it much hotter behind the counter. Quit maybe idk. Anyway she's super rude like every single time we go in there. Rolls her eyes and stuff even. Understand that we're nice people, we're not rude or abrupt or anything, even when she's mean to us. Maybe it's just to young people. She told an elderly woman in front of us that she was praying for her. That's awesome but not so awesome when you treat other people bad that are right behind her. This Fred Meyer is one of the best. Helpful and respectful employees, they go above and beyond to be helpful and understanding. Easy to find isles, great prices and they make you want to go back to their store and become a regular. In comparison to the SE Mill Plain Blvd. location, you are better off at this location. Fred Meyers was my "go to" store but since they have begun their change over their service has suffered tremendously. Several departments simply do not answer their phones or they answer their phones and then just hang up on you. It is impossible to actually speak to someone in the department you need. For now I have found other stores who's selections and prices are quite good. I may or may not go back to shopping at Freds. Three stars for the smoked turkey panini at the deli. It was a giant sandwich for $4.99 and had plenty of stuff - avocado, artichoke hearts, spicy mustard, red onions and cheese. The onions were a little strong, but you can't really control that. The counter will even heat it for you. Two stars for the nigiri sushi. The pieces of fish aren't very generous, the quality is just ok and it's expensive for what it is. Although, I didn't really see any sushi spots nearby so I guess they can price it like that. The grocery store is neat, clean and well stocked. Visited the card section and selection was short on kids b-day cards. This is a super store w/housewares, gardening and clothes. read more

Well, might as well go to Winco. I have shopped at this store for 10 years and on Wednesday iI had to bag MY OWN groceries which were about 8 bags. The clerk at the cashier did not bother to thank me but was sure to pile all the food near me! At 72 years old I do not appreciate this change at Freddies. read more

This store has everything we need for the house and we do a lot of quick, last minute business shopping here as well. I love this Fred Myers I come every week in the morning with my two toddlers and it's so great I can have a good shopping trip because if they need a snack they are right there. They have a cashier Sanita who is absolutely wonderful always says hi to my kiddos and me. read more

The staff are very helpful, but I have never bought so many expired groceries in my life. Almost every time we shop here, at least one item is months over expiration. We have returned items to have the replacement be 3 months expired. Even products with a long shelf life like chips and jam have been expired or moldy upon purchase. Since I live in Vancouver, I have limited experience visiting Fred Meyer stores in Portland, but I absolutely adore this Fred Meyer! It has the look of a Zupan's while retaining the classic feel of a Fred Meyer's. The most unique aspect of this store is that is has a fabulous cheese section located in the deli. It is located in the center of the deli and is a true spectacle! There a massive cheese wheels and cheeses from across the globe! These gourmet cheeses cheese come with a gourmet price however. The presentation is phenomenal and every time I visit this location, even if I don't need cheese, I visit it just because it's a work of art! The store is always clean, the decor is modern and customer service is great. I also love the location; right by the river. read more

They have bad customer service and the garden department destroyed my bicycle this morning. I used to be their biggest fan and shop there every morning but I am more and more upset with them. They have world class poor customer service (I have even heard employee cussing in the deli at lunch about working there). Their garden department most recently destroyed my bicycle while it was parked out front and I'm over the Fred Meyer (sellout!) chain entirely. We were headed that way already. I have also been talked back and down to by several employees that serve like they used to work at Wal Mart. To follow up, I have written and written comment cards and their main office is uninterested in listening to customer feedback or creating a dialog. I have heard this new store is suffering in sales and I'm not at all confused about why. I wish them well. And enough with giving out millions of plastic bags for every little thing and then making it a huge ordeal and questioning process to get a canvas bag credit! You guys are not green in the least and ignored my comments to change these policies. All of your crappy products other than groceries come from China and are probably made with child slave labor. The reason I like this Fred Meyer more than others is the work fast and they have great security. Fred G. Meyer, originally of Brooklyn, New York, opened his first stand on the corner of a busy highway in Brooklyn selling cherries. Meyer said he originally started his cherry selling business, because he "needed the extra cash to buy a car." Meyer eventually expanded his store to selling items for cleaning, as well as cereal, until he eventually opened his first permanent location in Portland, Oregon. The first suburban one-stop shopping center opened in 1931 in the Hollywood District of Portland,[2] a neighborhood he deliberately chose through a shrewd and prescient application of market research: he would pay customers' overtime parking tickets that they incurred while shopping at his downtown store, just to obtain their home addresses.[citation needed] The store's innovations included a grocery store alongside a drugstore plus home products, off-street parking, gas station, and -- eventually -- clothing. Fred G. So I would have been a new member, I've always shopped at Safeway, but the wife gives me this coupon for forty nine cents a pound Foster Farms Chicken and I dutifully trundle off to the Grand Central Fred Myers on Columbia to pick up three chickens for the grill. They tell me I need a Fred Myers Reward Card, so I get three chickens (the only three there) go stand in line at the customer service counter for about ten minutes while the guy there works out some hassle with another customer, I take the time to fill out the rewards card application... a big step since I love my Safeway rewards card and I feel unfaithful. Finally the guy tells me that they're out of the cheap chicken and I got the wrong kind and they're not doing rain checks... So I tear up my application abandon my basket in the aisle and leave the store. I can understand running out of a sale item, but a rain check is basic customer service... Anyway, rotten first experience and not only will I never shop there again, but no one in my family will either. read more

I have only been to this location twice and as I shop the natural foods section mostly, I can only speak to what I see there. This FM has the best natural foods selection I have seen in comparison to the other two I frequent. They had more variety in the organic produce and larger tables for it. They had a larger dry goods section in the natural foods, and the prices were the same as any other FM in this area. I purchase at least eighty percent of my fruit from FM much of the year (when I can't get it at the two Farmers Markets in Vancouver at the Evergreen School annex on 28th St., or downtown). They regularly have sales on their apples and other produce. I go through a lot of produce with two teens at home. I wish I lived closer to this location as they have more of a selection than even 117th, but unless I have another reason to head down here, I won't make it often. There were several shops built in the far SE end of the parking lot, including a great local only coffee shop called Thatcher's. If I go shop here, I stop in at Thatcher's. They are limited on syrups (chocolate, vanilla, hazelnut, almond and caramel about rounds it up), but they are good. So, thanks to a new coffee shop in the parking lot, I may have an excuse to at least go monthly. I don't purchase non-food items here unless they are on clearance as they are pricey, but their nutrition section beats Whole Foods most of the time. I do compare sales though as sometimes the competition trumps them. read more

My family and I are in this store on a regular basis. Most of the checkers recognize my face or my son's. I wish they knew my name. I was a bit disappointed when they carded me when buying beer for I am always buying a 6 pack. Customer service is otherwise excellent. read more

The deli team is fabulous! I needed a ton of party platters in a pinch and couldn't order online because I needed an early pick up time. The girl at the deli took my order over the phone AND had everything ready an hour before my pick up time (which was only like 10 hours from the time I called them!). Then, ordered a crap ton more party platters online for the next day and they had it all ready BEFORE my pick up time. They even organized everything in a cart for me so it was easy to carry outside. The people here are nice enough. I've been to this store many times and had a few items to purchase. Realized I forgot my ID but had my check book. They wouldn't take a small check under any circumstances. Fred Meyer is just not the kind of store that agrees with my values of customer service and common sense over corporate drone policies. In the past I always did feel kind of gross when I spend money there. I'm actually kind of thankful they gave me a reason never to return. read more
