I called Freddy's Tree Service after having seen their crew in our local neighbourhood. I needed someone to thin a pear tree in the front of our house. But I wanted ISA Certified Arborists, not butchers. I called and based on address and the Google maps, Mike was able to see the tree in question and provide a quote over the phone. A crew could be by the very next day. The quote was fair and reasonable. They showed on time the next day and one hour later, the tree was thinned, yard waste removed and shredded. The tree looks great. Frankly, the best that it has looked in years. As told by Eduardo, new growth this spring will create a nice canopy with the interior cross branches now removed. After a bit of a hiccup at the beginning, everything was great. I spoke with the office this morning and they had a spot available for 1:00 this afternoon. The crew showed up EARLY (how often does that happen these days) and got right to work. They quickly topped off a good 15 feet off 4 podocarpus trees. About the time they were finished topping and trimming the trees, the rest of the crew showed up with the chipper. They removed the massive volume of trimmings, including retrieving many large limbs that fell into the neighbor's yard. After raking up the smaller debris, they used the leaf blower to finish off the job. They left the yard looking as good as it started (or possibly better). After getting quotes from 3 different vendors, I decided to go with Freddy's Tree Service and I'm so glad that I did. 1. Edward was very helpful during quoting process. In fact, they responded to my phone call and scheduled the appointment very quickly. Edward was very patient in explaining the different trees that I had on my property, which consists of over 5 different trees! 2. On the day of my appointment, Edward and his team came early. Yes, early! They were ready to go and Edward even explained that they sanitize the chain saws after each job to ensure that diseased trees do not affect healthy trees. 3. I was fortunate to have Jose as the person to climb and trim the trees. He was very professional and really used an artistic eye to trim 3 oak trees that were seriously overgrown. I had no idea the trees could look so beautiful. 4. The other 3 crew members worked diligently to clean up all of the fallen branches, which was no easy task because all of the trees are located on a pretty steep slope in my backyard. They worked hard and cleaned up afterwards, which was a huge plus. I even tried to help but Jose said not to worry about and left my backyard cleaner than it was before they arrived. 5. After the job was completed, I realized that two sprinkler heads were broken during the process. I called Freddy's back and they scheduled Edward to come back within a day of me calling. Edward was just as friendly and patient as before. He took his time fixing the sprinkler heads and even explained the process to me. 6. Extra kudos goes to Edward because he also saw me trying to clear up some dirt along one of the paths that the crew was walking. He offered to do it for me and even created a small ditch so that the dirt would not spill over the wall again. So helpful! Overall, I am so happy I worked with Freddy's Tree Service. We had a few companies give us quotes to cut a huge elm tree in our backyard as well as a maple in our front yard. Out of the 3, Freddy's was the cheapest by far. So I scheduled them to come out on an afternoon I was home early. I did give them a specific time. My husband also came home early in case I wasn't back yet from errands. 2pm rolled around, 2:30- I called and they said they would prob be there within like 15-20 minutes. Then 3pm, 3:15pm- I called again and said they were supposed to be there by 2, and they told me there was a note saying I had just said late afternoon. But yet, I spoke with someone and I did mention later afternoon, but after discussing it with them, had said 2pm would work well. So there was some sort of miscommunication issue. Needless to say, they showed up around 5:20pm. They did a great job on the tree in front. The elm in back sadly was shaved so much more than I had anticipated. I assumed they were simply trimming and cutting height off the top. My husband was happy with it, but our shade is gone and the tree just looks somewhat odd. (Just my opinion though!) The yard was cleaned up well and major debris was taken away, but our grass has so many holes in it now from the branches and the work that was done, it looks terrible. I'm not an expert in what happens to your backyard grass after having a huge tree trimmed, but our grass looks like a war zone. So I wasn't happy with that. We are tracking in clumps of dirt and little twigs. Another thing- one of the people on the phone told me they accepted all forms of payment- cash, check, cc. But then we were told they didn't do credit card. So we had to pay them a day or 2 late because we had to arrange other payment. Overall, we liked the reasonable price and quick scheduling, but weren't thrilled with the timeliness and what happened to our backyard grass area. read more

If I could give this place ZERO stars I would! After not showing up (and not calling) they totally flaked and blamed it on a computer problem. When we rescheduled I couldn't be there during the trimming of my tree. When I got home I was shocked at what an awful job they did! My poor tree was lopsided, full on one side and thinned out on another, unbalanced, and not symmetrical at all. Did they trim it blind folded or with their feet?!? I am about ready to call out Freddy's Tree Service for the third time to visit my home and trim the large Jacaranda tree I have in the front yard. They have always provided excellent service with great value and incredible cleanup and attention to detail.
