They require the homeowner to give them a $4,000 deposit and then they take over listing and selling items online. (Our property had already been cleaned, organized, and sorted.) They stated that they would then need to use the house to photograph and list items for about 5 weeks or longer. They stated that they keep track of the time it takes them to do the work in man hours and we may even owe them more than the deposit after the sale is finished if the $4,000 did not cover their expenses. We were expecting a traditional two day in person sale but this company no longer does that in order to maximize profits. This may be a strategy that works for some, but not for us.

I asked about the Snoopy in the window. He told me it was $50. I asked if I could see it. He told me I would need to buy it to see it. What kind of store does that? Apparently this store that I won't be buying a Snoopy at. Ugh. There's so much random stuff in this store that I don't understand it at all. Unpolished silver, used vintage silk tops with armpit stains, hats, art to decorate your oldest living relative's house...and a Fender Knock off guitar in the window selling for $450, but worth less than $60.

For example, during the first open house I drove by our house to see how it was going. Imagine my surprise when I found only one sign advertising the open house. It was a sandwich board out in front of the house. And, it wasn't even our realtor. Brent had asked Jordy Bharati of Coldwell Banker reality to fill in for him without discussing it with my wife and I. Also, some neighbors told me later that 15 to 20 minutes after the open house was supposed to start, potential buyers were waiting in front of the house. Mr. Bharati was late. Clearly he did not have our best interest at heart. On another occasion, when we reached out to Brent to find out how the sale was going he informed us he was on the east coast. I assume for a vacation. I don't know because he never informed us of his plans ahead of time. He assured us that he would continue to handle the sale. Other real estate agents I talked to said it would be difficult to do a good job from that far away. It was very hard to get updates from Brent. Only toward the end after we insisted that he give frequent update did he comply. Finally, my wife was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and not given long to live. She indicated that she wanted to move back into our house and die there. When I informed Brent we were moving back in, his response was "if she dies in the house there are some legal implications". I would not recommend Brent Mardesich and Tailored Transitions for selling your home.
