So many times I have driven by just wondering. I have stepped through other doorways near to…read moreBallyhoo but never considering clombing the stairs to these elevated doors. But tonight, tonight our first choice was closed and our second choice had an hour wait so we did a Yelp search not quite remembering that Ballyhoo was this location that I had passed over and over again. Walk in and you feel Buffalo... the waterfront dockside factory Buffalo and it's a great feeling. This ain't a wear your party dress to kind of bar but you just feel that you are going to enjoy yourself as you sit down at the bar or at the limited seating high tops or along the window side counter seats. An amazing awesome bartender who is playing a fantastic playlist of tunes you settle yourself into a place of comfort looking out at the perfectly framed General Mills plant that is busily filling Buffalo's breathable air with that comforting aroma of Cheerios! Young lady from behind the bar shares a menu and a check list of food ... sausage sandwiches ... soup ... and a few other items. Frankly you won't need more because the food is damn good ... the deep soul vitalization will start to work on you and you'll just want to stay. Get to chatting with the friendly bar keep ... always a good sign ... that music is good and your food arrives one steak and one chicken sausage sandwich both covered in yummy toppings ... chips on the side ... we indulged in LOTS OF PICKLES and based on the recommendation both ordered the black bean "chowder." Sausages were both delicious... the black bean concoction was one of those thick oh so good experiences and the pickles were special (There were lots and we brought them home.). Definitely a place to return to ... that superb barkeep makes apparently every cocktail ever created ... but a nostalgic Buffalo feel ... wondering who sat here through the years. They apparently are packed on Sabres home game nights but do what we did ... choose a slow moving weekday evening when you can watch the sunset formulate through the frame of Ballyhoos window ... watch your steps going home ...

The venue was cute and had potential. Smelled weird. I ordered a margarita and it was awful. They…read moreonly have sausages for food. I had the chicken and I only ate 3 bites. Not my thing. My husband liked his, he got the devil dog. But his drink wasn't good either. Odd coming from a place that appears to specialize in adult drinks. I wouldn't go again.

This is my favorite festival of the year. This year 2026, I have to say was one of the best. They…read moremade some changes that I think really paid off. There were "bleachers" through out the festival. I feel this was a great thing. It one gave more options for people to sit down, eat and relax. Which I think in turn cleared alot of space up. We walked through the festival for over three hours and not once felt crowded, and I really think that's because of all the new resting spots. I always get the family tickets from tops ahead of time, then collect the tickets from the tent. Always an easy process, shorter lines. Average good was going for 8 to 10 tickets, same as previous years so I did not see any increase there. And most had a 4 ticket sample item as well. Loved the variety..trying new restaurants. Entertainment is always spot on, that hasn't changed either. Just a good food festival..this year weather was perfect for it as well.

Pro tip: buy your tickets at TOPS before the festival. They're cheaper, and you get (non-alcoholic) drink coupons to use ar the fest. Our favorite this year was Nickel City Vice's "You're Nuts," a peanut butter cheesecake ice cream sandwich. The boys nearly died laughing when I went up to place our order and asked the guy, "Can I have You're Nuts?" We also happily demolished small FREE bags of Checkers & Rally's fries, some ethic eats, and Buffalo classics (Nick Charlap's custard, Just Pizza). The Taste of Buffalo is one of those events that reminds you how many great local restaurants and food businesses we have.

This place looks amazing...myself, my brother, and friends stayed here for me and my brothers…read morebirthday. Walking into the loft we were all speechless. Big kudos for the use of space, layout, and the sweet 2 bedroom loft. It has 2 nice sized bed rooms with comfortable queen beds and a closet & dresser in each room. There is a full kitchen, with a fridge, stove, microwave, glasses & silverware, also a living room with a couch/pull out bed with a flat screen TV mounted on the wall and a cool bathroom with his and her sinks. The unfortunate part about this place was the filthy floor (wore shoes while walking on the hardwood floors), it had a lot of dust/dirt on it and our socks told on housekeeping. After 1 person showered the water was no longer hot(I was in the shower long enough to get soap on me and the water went cold on me) and we were told someone forgot to set the temperature...so if you stay I recommend you tell them to ensure the water in your room remains warm. There was also an iron that was falling to pieces and leaked water all over the floor before we requested a new one. Overall, this place is 3 stars with definite 5 star potential if they can get it fully together and ensure that the rooms are ready so guests don't have to ask for much of anything once in the room. I would definitely come back and refer others to try this place out for what it is.

The website listed parking as available at our surrounding lots. The parking available are questionably staffed commercial lots for $14 or $20. I would think parking would be included for a room that was $305.99 per night including taxes. The lobby is oddly decorated for a higher end hotel. Wood paneling is what you get. The front desk staff was friendly and quick. The room was a total disappointment. First of all, the entry closet door handle was falling off. Moving to the kitchen, the Voss Water sitting on the counter was for sale at $3.00 a bottle. Both bottles were covered in oily fingerprints and dried on flaky crud. (Have pictures) Bathroom was not scary, although the shower tile had a nice soap film left over from less than thorough cleaning. The bedrooms are spartan, one having numerous stains on the carpet. The baseboards showed a lack of cleaning with dust piled up in the corners. Mattress quality is firm and typical of a low end motel. Beds appeared fresh and clean. The gas fireplace had a pretty epic buildup of smoke film on the inside of the glass, plus some plasticky material melted to the outside. The mantel covered in dust. Once I saw the condition of the room, i snapped a few pictures to share. Overall, furniture, floors, and fixtures show some pretty decent wear and tear. Walls showed lots of scuffs and stains. Living room had only two recessed lights, one of which was burnt out. We were on second floor front of building. Your main view is an unfinished parking garage. The associated brewery/eatery next door was really the only high point or advantage to staying at this hotel. Next time I would stay at one of the 2 hotels on the Canal side area.
