The catalytic converter got stolen from my vehicle last week so I ordered a CARB approved catalytic converter for my vehicle online and it arrived today. I stopped by here to have it welded in and he quoted me $240!!! I've been building and wrenching on cars since I was old enough to drive and had many full custom dual exhaust systems installed to know he's trying to price gouge me because my car is super loud and I needed to get this done. His rack was empty and there were no customers, so it's not like he was super busy. I told him I'm going to check the price with some other muffler shops. He told me to go ahead and walked back in the shop. I Googled muffler shops that were nearby. I called the first one located in Gardena and he quoted me $150 and he was available to work on it now. I put my new catalytic converter in my car and left to Pro Muffler in Gardena. It took around 30-minutes for the guy to complete the work. I checked the work after I got home and the welds are phenomenal. Super quality work! So if Freddy was going to charge me $240 for a 30-minute job, then his labor rate is $480/hr. If I'm not earning $480 an hour at work, I'm certainly not going to pay him that outrageous rate!!! You may price gouge other people, but you're not getting me! read more

We had a catalytic converter replaced on a Honda Accord over a year ago. Honda oem converters were backordered, so he installed an approved aftermarket part. Fast forward to the most recent smog check which failed due to aftermarket converter. For the converter to pass smog, you are required to see a "state referee" for approval. It requires an invoice from the installation shop. The original invoice was lost/misplaced. I went back to Fredy's to just obtain a copy of the invoice and was told that was not possible. He said he did not have a computer and did not keep invoice records. After having his assistant charge at me and yell obscenities for questioning the policy of no invoices, I left with no invoice! AVOID AT ALL COSTS read more
