I overcharged my F-150 AC (going from under to over) and wondering why it was still not producing very cold air. Then I added more R-134a and made it worse. I called Earl on a Monday morning, arrived at his place 15 min later and he went straight to work on it. He determined it was overcharged by the very hot discharge line and fans running crazy hard. He recovered the charge, did a light evacuation, then put in the proper amount of refrigerant. He was done in 30 minutes. $100. I feared it was a screwed up compressor clutch since it would engage intermittently. Hooray for Earl!!! read more

Earl is legit. Evacuated, oiled, and charged my ac after I put a new ac assembly hose on myself. Things are nice and cool in the cab now. Earl is no fake. What you see is what your get. After trying another shop who wanted to charge me $79 to raise the hood, I went to Earl. He replaced the coolent and told me to come back in a few days and plan to leave it. He said if that did not fix it, it would be expensive. I went back again for a quick fix and he did a quick fix. In the end, the air conditioner needed to be replaced his quote was in the $900's as opposed to to $1249 I got from a mechanic. And that mechanic charged me $100 for the estimate. Earl's estimate was free. Like the other review said, don't be put off by the looks of the shop. He knows his stuff and is not going to overcharge you. In most cases, he tends to cheat himself, so please make sure you pay him fairly and do not take advantage of his generous nature. read more

I've brought my cars to this shop Budget Mobile Air aka Budget Auto Air for many years since the 1980's, when it was run by an individual named Larry Bunnell. I brought my car to the shop twelve years ago with a failed a/c compressor. At the time Larry said Earl would soon be the new owner of the business , and it was, in fact. Larry who did most if not all of the repairs on my car's a/c. To his credit, the a/c has worked well for the last twelve years until several weeks ago, when it suddenly failed. I brought it in to Earl who diagnosed the compressor as having failed. When I asked what it would cost to fix it, he quoted me $800.00 for the compressor alone plus labor. When I asked what brand compressor he intended to use, he said "he'd have to shop around." I called him a week later , and asked him again what brand compressor he had in mind to use. He said AC Delco. Of course I did my homework on the internet and found a multitude of vendors who sell AC Delco compressors for my vehicle's specification for less than $200, so I asked him if a 400% markup was a bit exorbitant. He then launched in to a tirade of how he's tired of people trying to 'take advantage of him and he has a family to feed" when he knows he does the best work anywhere. I thought that was rather strange since, among other things, twelve years ago, when Earl worked with Larry on my car, he blew two compressors till he figured out he should have also changed the expansion valve. But that's not the worst part of this saga. When, out of curiosity, I told him I'd still like to work something out to have him repair my a/c, he said he would never work on my car, shouted at me that I was trying to take advantage of him, that he knows my checkbook has a larger balance than his (?), then completed the tirade with an offensive bigoted slur, which, according to review guidelines, I will not repeat here. Earl may have earned the positive reviews he received three, four, or five years ago, but they do not reflect the individual he is now. I went to Budget Mobile Air after visiting the usual big name Oil Change companies. I wasn't convinced that the young people working at the big corporate chains were very experienced. It was refreshing that Earl popped the hood and checked my A/C within minutes of arriving. He seemed very experienced and knowledgeable. His prices for an evacuation and charge are the best in town. Had my car for SIX DAYS and finally sad he couldn't figure the problem out! Picked up my car at no charge of course but really! Was finally referred to Earl at Budget by Bob at Bob's Auto Repair. (thank you Bob!) Earl was able to diagnose the problem and repair my car in a day at much less than my original quote. Needed AC recharge on my 1995 Accord. After getting there Earl took care of me right the way, inspected the car and recharged AC. The whole process under 20mins. This guy is great, no nonsense up selling or long wait. He also charged less than he quoted me over the phone. I've called around and all other places quoted higher prices and needed the car for minimum 2 hours(Sears Auto) or more, one needed half a day!
