I was extremely disappointed to learn Freepeople.com has terrible customer service! Recently I ordered an item but the wrong item was sent by them. Their mistake. When I called, I was on hold for over 30 minutes and was immediately disconnected. I don't think anyone was ever going to answer honestly. I then chose to "chat" with an agent. The first Agent was awful, didn't care to help. Told me I could go on the website and do it. I decided to try chat again, by this point, I'm frustrated. Remember this is not my error! I was told by that agent I had to wait 72 hours for anything to be done! 3 DAYS, huh? I have NEVER had that experience. It's usually immediately corrected, the item I ordered is sent out right away along with an apology. In the day of everything being quicker and online how did customer service get worse and slower!! I am so perturbed I will unsubscribe and no longer buy from them. Nothing they have is that amazing that I need it. There are plenty of choices out there. I should not have to wait 3 days for them to correct their own mistake. What if the item is then sold out? It's just obnoxious. It's like an oxymoron, we are in days of technology and rapid changes yet things are worse and take longer. Free People up your game with customer service. Not a good look. You must turn off many customers. read more

I called this store to inquire about whether I can return an online purchase and the SA who answered the phone was very nice and said yes just bring it in. I returned the item with no problem. I also browsed around and the store was very inviting. I am at the age where I will not put up with anything I do not love. Life is too short. So, about the item I had to return. There is one thing Free People does well and it is the boho tiered ruffle look. I purchased a tiered trapeze hoodie from Free People a few years ago that is absolute perfection: soft, forgiving and hides all bumps, youthful and cute. I had been watching the website for another color of this tiered trapeze hoodie that I liked, such as a deep wine red, but it never happened. However, the other day, I saw a mint green color tiered trapeze hoodie on Freepeople.com that was half off. Wow, that never happens. I ordered it immediately. Absolutely not the same as my beloved hoodie. It is now in a heavy sweatshirt material that is really annoyingly tight in the arms. And because of this heavy material, the trapeze literally looks like a tent. Not a good look. Please bring back the original and best, in a soft French terry,in both black and deep red! read more

I'm biased because I'm a stylist at this store, but I must say it is a huge store, heavy on merch! Especially as compared to the next closest on Smith St in Brooklyn, which is tiny! There's definitely a good selection of looks here. There's a huge denim section, as well as a large Movement (athlesiure) department. They also have intimates, and a healthy assortment of dresses, and lots of accessories! Standards are pretty meticulous, so the product will likely be presented neatly when you arrive to shop. read more

Looks like three people are working in the store when I visit. I mostly buy Free people clothes online and never been in their retail store. I just want to see what stuff they have and maybe they will have different stuff than online. Staff say hi to me when I step in and they let me walk around without interruption. The store is clean and the decoration in the store is very bohemian. Items in the store is so much less than official website but it is nice anyway to walk around and see the real clothes before buying. read more

I love the Free People brand so of course I was going into their store while shopping around SOHO. It was 1/3/18 and I mistakenly thought I might find some bargains. They had a sale section but you know how it works. Nothing that you ever want is on sale. Please mark down the Laguna Thermal shirts soon! I did pick up a Yankees hat made by American Needle while I was there. It's the cutest Yankees hat in New York. It's black and has white flowers embroidered on it. Score! read more

Came here to make a return from a different store out of state, wasn't sure if it would work since the bar code on my receipt had gotten wet and was partially missing. But the nice employee with the long red hair helped me out, even calling the store I bought it from to get the actual receipt number! Frustrated is an understatement. Wasn't open at 7:05pm when their website and Google and maps say they're open until 8pm. I just walked over a mile to return something and now have to carry them back. A woman even opened the door to let someone out and we said we're just trying to return these items and she said we can't and we said but your system said you were open until 8 and we just want to return it and she refused. I adore Free People the brand, and I will still continue to shop with the company, but just not with this location. I entered the store during lunch today and NO one greeted me, much less make eye contact. There were about 3 customers in the store and no one received help, no employee spoke to anyone of us. As I mentioned before, I love Free People! But.... I wont spend my money at this location. read more

Expensive but cute stuff and the staff was very nice and helpful when we came to exchange something my daughter bought for a concert but didn't wear. We didn't have a receipt for one of the items so we got a store credit that we used immediately to get a gorgeous pair of jeans and a top my daughter loves. read more

The people that work in this location are rude and so unhelpful. There were two other people in the store and one said that she couldn't help me because she was too busy. The woman at the cash register wouldn't let me return a shirt because I had worn in the store right after I got it before deciding to return it. This store is the best and most amazinggg Free People store in New York City. The store is huuugeee and has so many amazing items! The people who work there are also so nice. If you ask for help, they are more than willing to go above and beyond. Love this brand and this store! read more
