Since it was my first time here in 10 years she gave me her top picks and was very nice and patient as I decided what I wanted. Opted for a half-size nacho with steak with a bunch of toppings (queso, shredded cheese, lettuce, guac, pico, grilled veggies) and it was the perfect size for a fast lunch without leftovers. The steak was tender and I got the jalepeno salsa as well as a side of habanero sauce and both were fire! They added a nice level of heat and flavor to the meal. I came before the lunch rush so I didn't have to wait and the restaurant was pretty tidy. It was a nice day so I sat near a window with a nice view. It has been about 4 years since visiting (moved out of state)...so decided to come to my favorite place for nachos. Unfortunately, not my go to for food anymore! As I go through the line adding toppings, amazed at seeing so much dried up food on the side of containers! Did the veggie nachos....waaay too salty! I am SO glad I chose to go get food at Freebird's yesterday! Aaliyah is the BEST- she helped me choose which ingredients to get for my bowl since I recently had dental surgery AND can't do heat/spicy! We were in town and this location was 5 minutes from our hotel. Haven't been to a freebirds in a while since there isn't one near me. We ordered ahead for pickup. The food was ready pretty fast , we ordered when we were close by so we waited on the last item to be made while we were there already. Still met the time commitment provided when I ordered online. The staff we very welcoming and kind. They offered a beverage while the finished up however I declined. We were so hungry we forgot picks of our food but my bowl was really great I did a vegetarian bowl and my spouse has a vegetarian burrito. The chyanne tortilla was spicy by itself however went really well with my bowl. The creamy jalapeño sauce is to die for! I wish they put a little more of the corn , pico , and tortilla strips but over all it was a good portion. The burrito was on point as well. However, I'd suggest maybe a mushroom filling be added as the vegatarian option is just bell pepper and onion which I like but my spouse does not. I know a long time ago there was a different veggie option maybe zucchini or something if that sort? It has been several years since I have gotten to a Freebirds for a meal. I must say, it hasn't changed (much), which is great in my opinion. I opted for the burrito bowl with the white fajita chicken, Mexican rice and refried beans, adding a good portion of the grilled vegetables and hot salsa. The 'hot' salsa isn't as spicy as Chipotle's. I miss the old days when Freebirds would have that orange container of spicy habanero goodness on every table. Darned COVID changed them in that way. Another thing different between Freebirds and Chipotle's is the crunchy garlic. That's a game changer in my opinion. I overlooked the sour cream, which I realized half way though the meal. Next time, for sure. The 'pot' brownie was fantastic, even though they renamed it to something lame. Overall a great experience, with the customer service being on point. The staff at this location are particularly kind, helpful and imo, adorable. I wish the salsa and guacamole had more flavor and their death sauce truly isn't hot enough for that title but is tasty. Order to eat in or out. You can also order through their app. Give them your phone number to enter their loyalty rewards program to earn free food! Burritos, tacos, bowls, etc. Plenty of different options to build your food the way you want it to be. I love that the worker always mixes up the stuff in your burrito before wrapping it, so that you get everything you ordered in every bite =) My favorite thing to order is the Hybrid Beef on flour! If you love spicy, def don't skip the jalapeno creamy salsa! Even though it is labeled to be spicier than "death" it isn't that bad. I have a pretty decent spice tolerance. I've been a fan of Freebirds for many, many years. They're very similar to Chipotle, with way more options. This location always has excellent service, fresh food, clean tables and restrooms. Go hungry, because their burritos are HUGE. Even their (hybrid) small one, which I usually get on a cayenne tortilla. I definitely recommend their fresh tortilla chips and queso as well. I hadn't been to Freebirds in years, this location is even better than the North Dallas location. I got a monster pork burrito. It was huge and about $11. The tortillas are also much better than the tortillas at Chipotle, but the filling left much to be desired. Their rice was like the rice that would come in a Mexican-style Lean Cuisine TV dinner, nothing like the fluffy, lime-flavored rice at Chipotle. The ingredients didn't seem to be fresh, and I didn't finish my half of the steak burrito I split with a friend. On the plus side, the service was really good, and their hot sauce was pretty hot. The burrito wasn't horrible, and it might have been four stars if I had never been to Chipotle. I get the veggie burrito with refried beans, cheese, spanish rice, lettuce, tomato, and sour cream. I love it. It is simple comfort food. Their chicken is blandypants, the steak is ok but the carnitas are where it's at. I like the taco deal -- two tacos + chips & salsa + drink = $5. That's less than a value meal at most fast food places and it's got the illusion of being better for you at least because you can dump a lot of veggies on it. The establishment was nice & employee's seemed quite organized that's literally all I can muster up to say as far as kind remarks go and this is essential why the one star even exist at this point. Now, I'll speak on my cons... Everyday at Freebirds from 2pm - 5pm Hyperbird burritos are $5.00. Step in just a minute or two before that and the staff will rush you down the line knowingly that the deal starts soon and cash you out so you miss it! I would know it happened to me on my very first visit to the Arlington Highlands location. I was cashed out at 1:55pm and the employee Liza told me after cashing me out so quickly that there was nothing she could do I wasn't going to get that deal I originally stated I was there for in the first place. However, The burrito didn't change my life either it was season-less, not juicy, very basic, nothing special, and didn't leave me wanting more at all. My final thoughts... Freebirds left a bad taste in my mouth and because of this experience I won't be back and also because their burrito game is so weak It couldn't even make up for the experience I had and again, I won't be back.
