I remember my first Freebird burrito almost thirty years ago in college. Legendary. Fresh ingredients, big chunks of beef, and this barbecue sauce which was as addictive as nicotine. I moved to Houston, and continued to enjoy giant awesome burritos. Then scaling back on quality began to raise its head. The first signs were subtle. Taking away the self service BBQ sauce. I get that. I have been known to use a water cup for mine so that makes sense. Then they changed the BBQ sauce. No idea why or what given secrecy of the formula, but the most recent iteration is somewhere between Sweet Baby Rays and A1 thick and hearty. Over the years they have continued to regress and today, I'm sad to say, I have to give up on Freebirds. I was feeling extra generous to myself today and ordered extra protein. But wait! What's this? It's called ranch hand steak now. What does that mean? Evidently freebirds hates ranch hands because ranch hand steak is a sludgy heap of chopped mass of what tastes like early versions of plant based beef substitutes. The consistency is somewhere between cereal left in milk for a day and a dirty dish sponge. I'll miss you Freebirds. Your quirky ambiance, home made aluminum foil decorations and fifty cent sour cream upcharge will always have a special place in my heart. I frequently visit Freebirds in the woodlands, and their food is consistently amazing. The flavors are top notch, and the portions are generous. However, my recent experience at this particular location was disappointing. Our burrito was filled with more beans than anything else, completely overpowering the other ingredients. It was essentially a burrito full of refried beans, with other things just being a mere afterthought due to the overwhelming bean content. To make matters worse, they served me a chipotle sized portion of queso, which was barely a full scoop. I would strongly advise against visiting this location. It's best to steer clear and find a better place to enjoy their food. (ik this makes me sound like a Karen but I've been eating freebirds for years and this is the WORST one I've ever had) read more

I try to avoid bad reviews but I will never order from this location again. I ordered the burrito bar for work for 20 people. When I order catering, most of the time, the food provided is for MORE than 20 people. I counted and only had 17 employees get food and nothing was left. The steak and chicken provided were definitely not enough. On top of that, my queso was missing. I tried calling this location 4 times over a 3 hour period and no one will pick up my call. Absolutely the most disgusting burrito I've ever had in my life. It was my first time and I waited behind a family of 5 and decided I would go for the quesarito add on. When I told her she gave me an attitude and told me it was too late after she added my toppings already which again, was my first time didn't know how it worked. Just feel like it's something you should ask customers if they want to avoid that I mean after all it is a promotion. Besides that, everything was cold as if it's been out all day they don't sit on warmers and they even "toasted" my burrito and it still was cold when I got home (7min drive) . I can't imagine how cold it would've have been if I didn't get it toasted no flavoring in anything super bland. I'm so disappointed I spent that much money on what could've been a nice chipotle bowl. The food was really good, I've gone to this location a good 5 times. All 5 times I've came to this location I get the same person doing my order. This older Hispanic lady always takes my order with an attitude. There's always something that she gets annoyed about when taking my order. I went today, April 10th 2026 to eat my lunch and as she was waiting for my tortilla to be ready, she moved a trashcan that clearly wasn't new out of the way with the gloves she had on. I felt disgusted that once my tortilla was ready, she grabbed it with those same gloves she moved the trashcan with. When asked if I could get a new tortilla she got mad at me and started asking me "why" and saying that "these are new gloves". It seems like common sense to me that if you're making my food, you shouldn't be touching a trashcan. After I mentioned why I wanted a new tortilla she got pissed and asked one of her coworkers to take my order instead. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who's had to deal with her. read more

Customer service at this Bunker Hill location is so horrible! I come here almost every Sunday and they always mess something up with they ring up my items today. I asked for one regular size drink instead of two kids size drink, and they charge me for a large drink. Unbelievable and then they try to argue with me. Service was horrible. Waited almost 45 minutes for my mobile order, which should be ready in 15 min. Understand the chicken was not ready, but the staff could have acknowledged that. Nope. When I checked on status, the lady was super rude. Told me I could have raw chicken, plus I could have cancel my order. I would if I know to begin with not after 45 minutes of waiting. When I checked my order, one of the items was missing. My problem was not waiting, but customer service. Used to be one of my favorite places, but not anymore after this visit. I had a lot of requests for songs over the years when I was playing live shows, but half of them were Freebirds. I have no problem with three birds at all - or Freebirds, which is what I meant to say - and they stuff their burritos full of all kinds of delights, which you can choose, and I think they do a good job with it. This location is in Bunker Hill right off of Katy Freeway, and it's pretty friendly and similar to most other locations, but does get pretty busy. I'll probably come back here again in future. You can definitely consider me a fan on many levels. read more

ABSOLUTE GARBAGE! 3/4 of this burrito is in my trashcan now and the rest of it; I'm gonna have to stick my finger down my throat to get it out. I ordered a burrito with chicken fajita meat. There are one or two pieces of meat in this burrito. The rest of it they have stuffed with rice and beans I guess in the hopes that I wouldn't notice that they weren't putting any protein in it. The chicken that is here is not white meat fajita chicken. It has skin on it. And it is dark meat. Inedible full of tendons. I also ordered hot sauce. There is no hot sauce on this burrito. And I ordered a side of queso and guess what folks they no longer send the shitty little bag of chips with your queso. I guess they want to screw us out of a few more pennies if we want to actually eat our queso with something other than our hands. I thought chipotle was bad? Guess what free birds... Used to go here all the time. Apparently they chopped down the menu and customer service. Went with the wife for the first time in a while and the two employees serving us seemed bothered by our presence. Sorry to offend asking if the spinach tortillas and avocados would come back and for trying to buy a larger cup for water so we didn't have to get a refill every two sips. What a shame. I'm a fan of World Burrito. It's a hipster place to grab a meal. Walk up to the counter and shuffle down the assembly line telling them what you want on your burrito or salad. They have a wide array of vegetarian and vegan options as well as meat options. They have three different sizes of burritos; Hybrid (small), Freebird, and Monster (large). They also have an app where you can earn free food and other items. Personally, I have the tendency to order their salads more often than the burritos. The salads come with everything that a burrito comes with sans the giant carb-loaded tortilla. In addition, you can get iceberg and/or spring mix lettuce. I opt for the spring mix. There is a wide array of meat to choose from including steak, white chicken, dark chicken, and pork. Vegans can order Beyond Meat. Also just about every vegetable topping you can imagine to throw in as well. Beans are also an option. Oh, don't forget the queso (so much for eating healthy --smh). Some toppings (I.e. guacamole) costs extra. If you're not sure what costs extra, ask. Normally, they tell you if there is an up-charge, but sometimes they don't. Guacamole, for instance, cost an extra buck and change. Bottom line - Regardless if you're trying to eat healthy or simply want a filling burrito, this is a good option for you. Vegetarian or vegan? No problem. On a diet? No problem. Pretty good burritos and salads. I think you will like it. Trust me, you won't go away hungry. Bon appétit. read more

I'd recommend getting the nachos here. They're loaded with so many different ingredients like protein and veggies and the portions are huge. Downside is that the nachos can get soggy very quickly. I also enjoy getting their chips and queso on the side, I think it was my favorite part of the meal surprisingly. I've tried their burritos and bowls before but it always left me so thirsty afterwards because of how salty it was. I have to say that if I had to pick my favorite Mexican fast food chain, this wouldn't be in my list of spots I'd go to off the bat. Their service is super quick in preparing orders and staff is friendly. I'm just not the biggest fan of the food here and wouldn't go out of my way for it. The servers always make sure you leave feeling happy. The atmosphere of this location is great. The design of the store guarantees most efficient flow for customer traffic! The location is very lovely. They have vegan meats. Very clean. Staff is incredibly nice. They made me feel like I'm their friend. The tortillas makes chipotles feel like dollar store quality. Everything that goes on the plate is wonderful. They have many sauces. The only thing that I disliked was the meat. I didn't try others just the steak. It tasted to my imagine what dog food tastes like. It smelt like canned meat. It wasn't even chopped I had a big portion of meat that was all together and sliced half way. All I can say is YUM! I am a big fan of Chipotle, their competition, but after today's visit, my allegiance may be swayed...just a tad. Upon entering, one of the first things I noticed was the cool sculpture in the form of a motorcycle hanging from the ceiling. It was totally unexpected but completely cool. Next, the menu board was easy to read. You choose either a burrito, bowl, nachos or salad. Then you get to let your taste buds go wild! All I can say is start with rice and go from there. I opted for a bowl with Spanish rice, jack cheese, steak, black beans, grilled corn, pico, tomatillo salsa and a huge dollop of sour cream! The customer service was outstanding. All of the employees were just all around nice. The cashier made genuine small talk and even offered me a complimentary cup of water since my order was to go. The only reason I am giving this experience a 4/5 is because of the temperature of the food. I really like hot food to be hot, not warm. If I had eaten there, my bowl would have quickly been too cold for me to enjoy. But, since I ordered to go, a quick pop in the microwave was the solution. read more

However the comment another customer put - the two employees serving us seemed bothered by our presence - is exactly what I experienced.
