This place is super popular and the wait reflects it. 45 min wait at 4pm on a Friday. Not too bad, based on some of the reviews I've read. Let's get to it! The service is okay, our server was very occupied and not prepared to take our order the first two times he came to the table. The first time was to introduce himself, the 2nd time he said he was bringing samples of the fajitas and birria for us to try (even though we ere ready to order). So he comes back with the samples and we're ready to order a drink because it's been 20 minutes by the time he returned again. We then find out the frozen margarita machine stopped working in the morning, so he says he'll bring 3 more samples of drinks for us to try. Finally, he comes back and we order drinks and food. The food was good but the back and forth did not lend a positive experience from a service and overall dining experience standpoint.

    Eggrolls Steak and Shrimp

Man I've never physically been to this spot in person, but I've ordered from door dash previously and ordered a burrito with steak and shrimps, overall it was greasy, salty and the meat tasted dry. I decided to give them another chance through door dash it was the same experience. Ordered a burrito bowl (steak, cilantro rice, tortilla strips) instead and stake and shrimp egg rolls. The many of the lettuce pieces were wilted, the meat had this peculiar taste, as if whatever they were cooking the meat on was also being cooked with other proteins. The meat was super greasy and tasted like it had been sitting. Just the smell tasted like old food. The tortilla strips were stale. The cilantro rice tasted like it was store bought in bulk and it also had a funny taste that I can't explain you just have to taste it (or not) well maybe I can explain... it tasted like old rice ?? Overall I didn't even finish the burrito bowl. On to the steak and shrimp egg rolls. Suuupperrrr greasy! The only saving grace was the shrimp kind of, but I didn't finish the egg rolls neither because the steak tasted the same as I explained in the bowl. To make this short, I will not be ordering from them again. Two times with similar experiences. I can't speak on how the customer service is since I haven't physically been, but I don't think I want to show up there at all. Lastly, the prices for this place are high, though they give big portions, but even then it can be a waste of food overall.

    Shrimp tacos with Alfredo sauce

The shrimp tacos are delicious especially if you add their special Alfredo sauce to it. I love that they offer a lot of different options on their menu. I also love that they offer *soft serve* margaritas, peach Bellinis' & lemon drops. Be prepared for a long wait (1-2 hours) to dine in at both locations. The painted murals around the restaurants is great decor and pays homage to their late loved one "Dona Leti"

Went on a Friday afternoon around 6pm. We waited about 1hr before being sat. They did sit us near the bar and said there were 3 parties ahead of us if we wanted to sit elsewhere. I would suggest waiting because we sat under a drippy ac vent and kept getting bumped into by the food runners. The place is very loud but that was expected. They do notify you that you only have 1hr 30 minutes to order and eat. They honestly do time you even if the waiter takes forever to come back to take your order!! We saw the waiter about 2 times the whole dinner, so i recommend ordering everything at once!! Starter: *Surf & Turf Eggrolls: omg these were really good, only downside was that if you take long to eat they start getting greasy and soggy. It is a big portion! 8/10 Entrees: *Fajita Nachos: huuuuuugeee portion but they were honestly soooooo good! 10/10 *Fajita Torta: honestly tasted like any other torta, nothing really special, but nothing wrong with it 8.5/10 *Quesadilla Plate: HUGGGE portion 9.5/10 Drinks: *Soft Serve Lemon Drop Margaritas: you can ask for a small sample before trying. These were very delicious and refreshing. They were about $20 each. That being said, they were not strong and they melt in 2.5 seconds! 8.5/10 *Prickly Pear Margarita: presentation was nice but personally this wasnt for me lol. This drink was STRONG, like cheap liquor strong lol. This was $17 and honestly gets the job done if you're trying to get drunk. 6.5/10 *Lemon Drop Martini: (not pictured) DEEEELISH, they made it with love 10/10!! This was also a $17 drink. Dessert: *Tres Leches: omfg best tres leches i've ever had! It had a cinnamon taste so it kind of tasted like horchata so 10000/10! Overall Experience: 8.5/10 Pros: Tres Leches and portion size Cons: a smidge salty, long wait and loud

This place stays packed!! We got lucky with finding a free parking spot. They do $20 valet. The restaurant is truly vibrant with colors and culture. Went in around 1p and for a party of 2, we were told it was going to be over an hour for a wait. Put our name down cause we were just gonna go somewhere for a bit to help past time. The host also recommend getting a drink from the side of the bar to have while you wait. Yet, luckily, a couple from the bar ended up getting up. We took the space. Bryan was our bartender/server and he was great! Helped recommend amazing drinks and food. We gotten the No Way Jose and Tye-Dye Marg! They make those drinks strong!! You can get a sample of their frozen Margarita, which we shared a strawberry one after we were done with our meal and watching the world cup. You get free chips and salsa which were fresh and good. Bryan explained that the portions are good enough for 2 people to split. See other people's food, yea those portions are big and worth the prices. We split the birria sampler plater and everything was so good! With all the hype we were seeing on Instagram, yea this place is a good one!!

Food is always delicious here every time I visit! I'm actually shocked this is my first review! For the food I do wish the chips and salsa on the table came with the green salsa too! I do believe you have to ask for it but the chips are always very fresh! The food presentation is very much chefs kiss! THE SOFT SERVE DRINK! 10/10 Customer service is very nice here! Down to the photographers that will take your pictures. All waiters are very attentive! Very quick to ask questions. The ambiance of the restaurant is very nice on the outside the colors attract many visitors! The inside is nice too. I do wish though if you sit at a table there was just a little more space between guest. Since wait times can be up to 4 to 5 hours long your time to eat is timed!! YES TIMED! which it's enough time but it does feel rushed. Parking can be a little hectic! I do feel like the workers take up space from guest! I'm not sure how they can make it easy for the workers. The parking is a little much! You may feel defeated like you will never find a space! Will I return!? YES!!!

This was my first time at Dona Leti's, and I had heard a lot about it, so I was excited to check it out. I was honestly a little nervous about parking, but I ended up finding a spot right away as soon as I pulled into the lot, which felt like a win. As soon as I sat down at the bar, I was greeted and given chips and salsa, which I appreciated. The space was pretty full with a line outside, but it did not feel overly loud or overwhelming, which made for a comfortable atmosphere. They have new soft-serve margaritas, so I got the strawberry mango swirl. It was really good. I do think adding an extra shot would take it from good to great, so I would recommend that if you can. The only downside was the price. At $21, it felt a bit expensive for a drink in Houston. For food, I had the birria tacos with consommé, rice, and all the fixings. They were good, but I would not say I was blown away. I would definitely come back and try something else next time. The menu is huge so you should have no problem finding something you like! The surf and turf egg rolls are already on my list. One thing I will say is the portions are huge. This is definitely a place where you can share, or plan to have leftovers for later. The staff was super nice and attentive, even though it was pretty busy, which I always appreciate. Overall, I had a good time and would come back to give it another try. I also know they have another location, so I would be interested in checking that one out as well.

I heard a lot about this place and decided to come here as I was in the mood for Mexican. I will start by saying the parking sucks so I'd suggest you take an uber as it seems like they only have ten spots to park. Now I waited for a good little bit maybe 45 mins then was seated. The inside was cute as they had photo ops that in the restaurant for people to take pictures. The food would be ranked in my top five best restaurants in the city. I ordered the loaded fries and the portions were enough to feed two people. Everything was seasoned and hot. Service was cool but the drinks and lack of parking would be why they don't have five stars. I thought the drinks were overpriced and not strong. I'd come back for the food and would encourage you to try this spot.

Dona Leti's is EXACTLY who she thinks she is! My friends and I had such a good time catching up over dinner. The music was loud enough to enjoy but you didn't have to scream to be heard. The decor was vibrant and colorful and the seating was intimate but enough space between tables that you didn't feel claustrophobic. The food was delicious. We shared the dip trio which included corn dip, queso and guacamole. The guacamole and queso were delicious and standard but the corn dip had a nice sweetness to it that was unexpected. We also enjoyed the standard house margarita and a strawberry margarita which were both strong and tasty. My pregnant friend enjoyed the strawberry lemonade. Our food was huge portions and affordable prices. My fajita steak bowl was delicious and plentiful that I'll have leftovers for the next two days. The icing on the cake is the birthday celebrations that come with two free shots of tequila. The downside is they do not take reservations so our wait estimate was 2 hours. We ended up waiting about 1 hour and 45 minutes. They text you to let you know when the table is ready and you have to claim your table with in 3 minutes. They also send a curtesy text during the wait to make sure you still want the table. Our server Cecilia was absolutely fantastic and when I return I will ask to sit in her area again.

Food was delicious and seasoned well, our server forgot to bring us extra utensils like a knife and spoon so we had to flag someone else down. Those drinks are strong!!!! Good tho worth the hype

I've been here plenty of times, and I'd say the more popular this place gets, the worse the customer service becomes. Today we had the displeasure of being served by Juan and his trainee. Two tables that were seated after us were served before we were. We even had to ask if he had forgotten about us. He walked by our table multiple times without bringing chips and salsa, and when he finally did, he refilled another table's chips before bringing us any. Several times they left to get items we requested and never returned with them, forcing us to ask again. The soft-serve alcoholic drink tasted very strong, but surprisingly had little to no effect. I don't drink often and didn't even get a buzz. The Surf & Turf Egg Rolls also seemed off. The filling tasted strange, and there was only four shrimp split between all four egg rolls. It also no longer comes with the queso dip, which was disappointing. This was by far the worst experience I've ever had at this restaurant. It's unfortunate because I've visited many times in the past and always enjoyed it, but today's service and food quality were unacceptable

Honestly, there's nothing to brag about here aside from the portion sizes. The presentation is nice, but the food itself is mediocre at best. While the cocktail décor looks great, the drinks were weak and underwhelming. The parking lot is chaotic. I was fortunate enough to snag handicap parking up front and find a seat at the bar, but I overheard the wait time was 1-2 hours. There's no way I would wait that long to eat anywhere. The restrooms are in need of a facelift, which was disappointing. Overall, there are far better Mexican food options in the area.

So we walked on over to this little speakeasy and were immediately greeted by the bouncer. On a Thursday night, it was quite crowded, but were able to find the last remaining seats at the bar. We were seated at the left end of the bar, which was nice because we had our own little "nook" away from the rest of the bar. Adjacent to us was the server station - the one server tending to the tables, Marilyn, frequently came by and we immediately befriended her. She gave us excellent recommendations and provided her opinion on several drinks. Robin was the bartender who took care of us throughout the night. She was super friendly from the moment we sat down and gave us stellar recommendations on food and drinks. She was happy to tweak a couple of their seasonal drinks to our liking, and even offered to mix other drinks that weren't on the menu. Fantastic service from Robin throughout the night. I started out with Tommy's Margarita - this was just their take on a classic margarita, nothing super special. I then ordered the Oaxacan Old Fashioned - think of an old fashioned made with tequila and mezcal in lieu of bourbon. I was a bit cautious about this one since I am not a fan of mezcal, however the smoky flavor was not very apparent in this one, which was a huge plus! I also got the Ardilla - very unique drink made with mexican corn whiskey, cocoa nibs, sherry, and a milk punch. I award this drink for most unique I've had in a while, definitely give it a try if you're up for something new. To finish, I had the Cariña - their take on an espresso martini made with reposado tequila. I really liked this espresso martini - it was a great way to finish out the night and I left feeling inspired to make my espresso martinis at home using tequila now! With the little room we had left in our stomachs, we tried the Pato Tinga Memela, which was duck leg (no bone) with beans and onions and cilantro atop a memela. I haven't had memela specifically per se, but consider me a fan. It is basically a mini "cake" of masa that is pan fried to a slight crispiness. An Oaxacan speciality, where else can I find these in Houston!? We also tried the Guacamole y Tostadas. The guacamole was unique in the sense that it was Oaxacan style, so contains pepitas, pickled onions, and queso fresco. The tostadas were super crispy and reminded me of how they serve guacamole in Mexico (rather than with chips/totopos). Fun fact is that this bar is owned by Goode Company. Next door to this is Goode Co. Cantina, so it's nice that they created an adjoining restaurant + speakeasy concept within the same strip. At one point in our visit, Levi Goode was standing next to us. We didn't know until after he left and Marilyn informed us, that that was THE man. Just doing a casual check-in of his bar. We really had a good experience at Bar Buena and look forward to returning. The food menu has quite a few offerings I wanted to try had I not come from a cooking class. We were also told that the seasonal drink menu was set to change shortly after our visit, so I look forward to trying these drinks!

Clarkwood really does know what they're doing with these espresso martinis! I loved the added touch of the burnt marshmallow on mine, and the coffee seemed pretty good quality too. The second time I visited I also enjoyed their spicy watermelon margarita. Also amazing. It tasted a little bit like a spicy jolly rancher? SO good! They also let us know that if we posted and tagged them on our instagram, that we could receive a free round of shots. So, of course, me and my two friends posted to get some shots too. We were able to try the Mexican candy shot, the raspberry lemon drop shot, and the mini matcha martini shot. Honestly all were really good, but my favorite in order were the 1) raspberry lemon drop shot, 2) Mexican candy shot, then 3) the matcha martini shot. The matcha martini was good but as it's creamier, I think having it as an actual martini than a shot is more appropriate. Still, it's a great way to try a new drink and just sip on it rather than taking it as a shot. Also - the venue is so elegant and charming and such a cute spot for a date night. The music was a littleeee loud for me considering it's such a small space, but that's okay. Either way, I loved Clarkwood and will be coming back again :)

$200 to Get Cancelled On: A Masterclass in Hospitality…read more We had reservations for the 6:00 p.m. cocktail tasting in the Arc Room and were required to pre-pay $200--because nothing says "relaxing evening" like a firm financial commitment. Naturally, if we hadn't shown, we would have been charged in full. However, when we arrived right on time, we were informed the event had been canceled. Apparently, a text was sent. Equally apparently, none of us received it--nor did at least three other couples standing there having the exact same delightful surprise. The double standard was...impressive. The hostess was apologetic but clearly overwhelmed and not exactly presentation-ready (stained shirt, visibly frazzled), which didn't inspire much confidence that this was an isolated hiccup. The proposed solution was to seat us in the bar--with the added charm of a strict "out by 8:00" timeline. A bold recovery strategy for canceling a prepaid experience at the last minute. We ordered the Clarkwood gin and tonic and a lychee martini--both recommended--along with a charcuterie board. Neither drink made it to the finish line. The martini leaned aggressively sweet, and the gin and tonic featured fruit-infused ice that sounded creative but tasted...confused. It also arrived in a shade of neon blue that felt less "craft cocktail" and more "science experiment." The charcuterie board was, somehow, the standout disappointment. The almonds were oily, the meat had those telltale dried edges of something that's been sitting out too long, and the accompaniments included what appeared to be Wheat Thins and plain animal crackers. It was an unexpectedly nostalgic trip to a child's snack drawer--just not one anyone asked for. Overall, this might pass as a novelty stop for a 21 run looking for something flashy, but between canceling prepaid reservations, questionable communication, and execution that missed the mark at every turn, it's difficult to find a compelling reason to return.

Even this time the GPS took us to an entrance that had us going the wrong way down a one-way, but we eventually figured it out I will say that the parking isn't all that great, but we were able to find a spot. If the parking lot is full you should be able to find street parking nearby Kanpai Club is a sister location to Handos. They share a kitchen and you can walk through an inside door access either. You can find the same cocktails and bites from Handos on the Kanpai menu, but there's also additional drinks and bites The bar feels like a Japanese Izakaya. It's a narrow space resembling a Japanese outdoor bar. It's intimately lit and well decorated. We did have to wait for two spots to open up, but that didn't take too long The bartenders were friendly, professional, and efficient. We went on a Friday night (fairly late), and they had two dedicated bartenders The cocktails were fun and were beautifully crafted. Most were served in novelty glassware. You can order classic cocktails, but both Kanpai and Hando offer a variety of signature cocktails. Most having some sort of Japanese or Asian fusion. They have beer, wine, and extensive sake list, as well as green tea and other nonalcoholic options The cocktails were tasty. The only one I was iffy on was their Espresso martini. It was poured from a machine and I guess there were having issues with it. The presentation was phenomenal. There was a roasted marshmallow garnish. The drink itself was far too Smokey in flavor than I like, or at least in terms of my espresso martinis The Yuzu Kosho fries were incredible. The flavors really hit the spot. The Okinawa Potato salad was both questionable to looks and and to eat lol. This purple mound of potato's had an interesting taste, look, and consistency. It wasn't bad, just... interesting and new Some tips: If you can't find this spot from the street, look for Handos. It's part of this restaurant Ask the bartender about the happy hour menu. If going twice in two nights when visiting from L.A. isn't a testament to a great bar, I don't know…read morewhat is. I ate at Norigami Tuesday night and it was great as were the cocktails served up at the nextdoor bar called Hidden Bar. On Tuesday, I tried the Thai Chili Ginger Margarita ($13) and it was great, complete with a hunk of candied ginger which I "gingerly" consumed throughout my drink experience...see what I did there? Next, I had the Three Dots and a Daiquiri ($13) with Rum, Lime, Velvet Falernum, All Spice and Pineapple and it was very similar to one of my favorite tiki drinks, the Three Dots and a Dash, complete with 3 luxardo cherries. To finish, I had the absolutely incredible Golden Laurel ($16) with Gin, Italicus Bergamot, House Greek Botanical Bitters and Sea Salt. It is equally beautiful served with a clear bay leaf and delicious. Last night, I was guided by the friendly bartender to try the Et Tu Banana" ($15) with Banana Bourbon, Spiced Pear, Creme de Banane, Campari and Citric Acid. I was a little worried about the cocktail being overly banana-y but it wasn't at all. It was a fantastic drink. For my last call, he recommended the Left Hand ($13) with Bourbon, Campari, Sweet Vermouth and Chocolate Bitters. Again, fantastic. Both nights, the bartenders and drinks were fantastic. Ambiance is nice with moody lighting. They even have a bidet toilet seat in the bathroom! Hidden Bar is a "hidden" gem, for sure. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I ordered the Side to the Sun Rises (gin, yuzu, mint, cucumber) which was light, refreshing, and well balanced. I would recommend it if you enjoy gin-based cocktails with a slightly fruity flavor. My friends really enjoyed their drinks as well. They have all day happy hour on Sundays/Mondays. We did not get a chance to try the food, but the menu looked great. Overall, a fun spot with great vibes and definitely worth checking out!
