Overcooked beef fajita on the combo fajita plate.
    Kelly W.

I used to eat here 3X a week. Tonight reminded me why I no longer do.I was with a new friend ,so I only took 1 photo. The "queso" w/carne seemed to be out of a can-it was orange & didn't have the consistency of real cheese- wasn't really cheese & was disgusting. It was $9.99. I am including a photo of the overcooked beef fajita. A senior citizen can get the all beef lunch fajita special for virtually the same price as the fajita combo here ALL DAY at Pappasitos. It definitely is enough for 2. The meat melts in your mouth. EVERYTHING is better quality than here. Teo charged $1.50 for perhaps 4 or 5 slices of lime to make the happy hour margaritas made with a gross mix drinkable. That's outrageous. It reminds me that I had stopped going long ago when they charged extra for onions on enchiladas. Come on. You don't charge extra for chopped onions! I have never been to another restaurant that does so. Some even provide carmelized grilled onions gratis. I'm convinced that a $15. YUMMY mango margarita at Pappasitos would have given us the same buzz & tasted better than 8 happy hour margaritas here. I used to love the in house made flour tortillas at Teo. Tonight they were tough & uneventful. We arrived on a week night when they were not busy. Neither of the salsas were as good as they used to be.The water pitcher didn't even have ice when they refilled the water. I have absolutely no desire to return. Why would I?

We came straight here after landing in Houston. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The parking lot for the most part was full, but the restaurant is huge with plenty of tables available.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was also great. They have a huge staff, so you should anticipate any issues as they all work together to make sure you receive excellent service. We started off with their Chile con Queso. We also received green and red salsa and everything was tasty. We also ordered one pound of fajitas, half chicken and half beef. These were served on top of grilled onions and with a side of frijoles charros and rice. The fajitas were really delicious. The chicken was very tender and the beef was seasoned perfectly. Overall a very delicious meal and can definitely see myself returning.

Fajita with eggs and a side sausage.

Service was fair. I did not try the tortillas or tamale. The fajita and sausage were definitely not warm. You would think for it being 8:45AM the food would be hot and fresh. Probably wouldn't drive from Katy to eat here again.

It's a relatively affordable, authentic Tex-Mex experience in the heart of Houston Heights. I would say the pros are their fresh handmade tortillas are very good, their menu is on the cheaper end compared to most other sit-down Tex Mex places, and the menu is huge with lots of variety. The con I would say is the quality can sometimes be hit or miss but probably comes with the cheaper price tag. Still would come back! Their fajita meat was a bit thinner and not as juicy as I would've liked but still had good flavor [[HIGHLIGHT]]Waitresses are friendly and ambience is great and authentic[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was fairly packed and expansive, with a frontside seating area and extended tables behind the righthand door.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were quickly seated in a booth for a Sunday dinner and served water, as well as chips and salsa. The menu included well over 40 different options, and I initially felt a bit intimidating to choose between which dish to order. My one constructive feedback would be the staff helping a bit more for indecisive customers, since my waitress mainly just stated all the food was delicious (which, while true, was not super helpful in my decision-making). We ordered house guac for our chips in addition to the salsas, and it was fresh and delicious. I was also pleasantly surprised by the size of my order, as the ribeye definitely looked more than only eight ounces; let alone the other components! Dinner was very filling, and while I didn't have a margarita alongside my food, I could tell it was a popular spot to indulge and sip.

    Chile Relleno with ground beef.

Dang this is a hidden gem...well at least it was from me. A friend recommended it so I stopped by for lunch today...now I need a nap! Ordered the Chile Relleno under House Specialties and it was indeed very special. Actually everything on the plate was really great! Rice, beans, guacamole, pico and amazing house made flour tortillas served fresh and hot! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is nice, though crowded not loud.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service is as amazing as the food. If you like good Mexican food give them a try!

    Tostada combo
    Catherine L.

Flavor was amazing but my tostadas fell apart really easily and fast. On the plus side, it's because the tostadas were packed with meat and toppings. I had to eat with a fork so not really a tostada anymore. Service was fast and attentive. I would come again!

    Margarita. Super potent!

We came here for Sunday brunch, as we were in the area for the Heights Mercantile Farmer's Market and I'd had this bookmarked for a while, so it was a logical nearby option. We pulled in just before noon on Sunday, and there was already a good crowd. They have plenty of parking out front and on the side, so don't stress about this given the location in the Heights. Upon walking in, we could tell it was bustling with fellow brunches. It is definitely a hole-in-the-wall, so don't expect the full ambiance of El Tiempo or Ninfa's. We were seated immediately by their friendly staff, who quickly got us waters and brought out chips and salsa. My favorite part of any Mexican meal! Chips were hot and crispy, served alongside red salsa and green sauce. Love it. The breakfast menu was extremely expansive. We didn't know where to start since there were so many choices. I normally go straight for chilaquiles, but I felt brave this time and branched out with the machacado con huevo. I had never had this before, but I would compare it to migas, except with shredded dried beef in lieu of tortilla strips. This was absolutely delicious. It was served with roasted potatoes, refried beans, a cheese & jalapeño tamale, and tortillas. This was SO much food. I'm not sure if it was simply the portion size or the fact that I had filled up on chips & salsa, but I ended up taking home some of my meal and it tasted just as good for lunch the next day. My partner ordered the chilaquiles verdes (green sauce), which came with a sausage link, eggs your way, and the roasted potatoes and refried beans. Again, so much food. I tried the chilaquiles and sausage, and both were very tasty. Tortilla chips were super crispy. I am definitely getting the chilaquiles next time! I also ordered a margarita, and let me tell you this was POTENT. I raised my eyebrow when it came out since it came in a small cup, but don't let the size fool you. This one was definitely strong and I'm glad I had plenty of carbs to balance it out. Our server was extremely friendly and took great care of us. Since this was our first time, she gave us excellent recommendations on the breakfast menu, which served as our basis for what we ordered. Okay I am hooked on Teo's! I am surely coming back to try their daily lunch specials and their dinner items. And we are adding this one to our breakfast/brunch rotation. Be back soon!

Taco salad wrapped in foul to go. It should have been in a container or not offered as a to-go item.
    Gabriela R.

This looked promising on the site, but it wasn't my reality. I ordered 2 taco salads to go. The items were not in a container. They wrapped it in foil and the dressing dripped and made a mess. The meat was cold. There was no cheese. The chips were stale. Ahhh I had high hopes and I was hungry after a long trip. Spending $50+ should have resulted in a better experience!

Teotihuacan Mexican Cafe is a great place to stop for happy hour! The vibe feels very authentic with beautiful and brightly-colored Mexican decorations strung from the ceiling. Recently, a couple of my coworkers and I decided to go to Teo's to celebrate the end of a long work week. We ordered cocktails and margaritas, which were very tasty. The server, who spoke mostly Spanish, had a very difficult time taking my drink order even though the cocktail I ordered was on the restaurant's regular menu. She eventually got it, though, and when it came out it was very yummy! We ordered chips and queso for the table. Nothing to write home about, but it did the job. The entrees that my coworkers ordered were very good, though. They let me taste test everything! The beef fajitas for one was large enough for two people and cooked to perfection. The combination quesadillas were also super tasty! One downside to our experience was that the servers definitely pushed us out once we were done eating. After checking on us a few times, they took our water glasses away without asking, which was our cue to go. Overall, my experience at Teotihuacan was okay.

Been here a number of times and haven't had a bad experience. Always eat too much and it doesn't disappoint. The menu is huge and has more options than you'll know what to do with. If I could eat more I would and always get the dessert. I will go back time after time. Service is great and they are on top of whatever you need.

    Frozen House Margarita - Large
    Kayla N.

While the parking lot was very crowded when we arrived to Teotuhuacan Mexican Cafe, there wasn't a wait to be seated which was nice. As the weather was beautiful and we were there for lunch, we asked to be seated outside and got a good table. I was surprised at how small the inside was considering how large it looks from the outside. We ordered drinks to start (micheladas and margaritas). You were able to pick the beer for the michelada and my friend selected Pacifico which she likes. I selected a house frozen Margarita and loved it as well. One thing to note with the margs is that they're a lot stronger than you would think (not complaining at all). For food, I ordered the La Chely but switched the green verde enchilada for a cheese enchilada. Everything on the plate was delicious and I'd absolutely order this again!

Teotihuacan is a bustling, lively, casual spot for texmex that is great for nearly all situations you might find yourself in - birthdays, drinks with some friends, families, whatever you want. The menu has something for everyone. We received kind and quick service from all the hosts and servers who waited on us. They were very attentive despite virtually every table around us being full - I was impressed and grateful for this. They were also very accommodating to our group. We were able to split our bill without a hitch! The food was yummy. My favorite part was that they didn't let your tortilla chips run dry, because that red salsa hits just perfectly. My husband and I split the numero dos for one. The chicken was not the best (a bit dry), but the beef was great. For some reason they keep the shells on the butterflied shrimp, which was not something we predicted before crunching down on the tail. Overall - nothing blew my mind, but for texmex, I was satisfied and very full! Despite ordering a platter "for one", it was just enough food to feed us both, since they are very generous with the portion sizes here. We want to come back with a group of 4 and split one of their large parradillas next time. P.S. Our birthday girl ordered a margarita and swears by them! P.P.S. Come hungry.

Do you need a reservation? Specifically on a week day evening

I don't think so, my friend and I came in during peak dinner hours on a week day and were immediately seated. Id honestly be surprised if they even took reservations.

When will they fix or replace the AC? It's blazing hot in there. Most unpleasant but I also feel bad for their workers.

    How's the Menudo here?

I hear its great.... Ive only had the pozole.

For my visit, it was crowded but not to where you couldn't hear your table. Dress is casual, good for friends, solo, or pit stop. Service: 5/5 Our waitress was very knowledgeable and friendly. Food: 3/5 They offer mimosas and I was tempted to order, but was driving and it was 9AM so forewent that option. There are food options for every tastebud. Mark ordered the fried cheese sticks, they were one of the items that I found worthwhile to return for. I opted for the Waffle feast. It included a waffle, that I added pecans on top to, two strips of bacon, eggs your way and hash browns. To say that I needed to add salt and pepper to the eggs and hash browns because they tasted bland and flavorless was unfortunate. It also was served at room temperature, because it was made from scratch, would think it be warmer to hot. The waffle was savory and had good mix and topped with the pecans made it even better. If you're on this side of town and want a change up from the "other breakfast diners" DOT would be where I stop. Fast, friendly service. Mr. Picky ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp while I opted for Veal Parmigiana, and we each stole a bite from the other's plate. We reached consensus immediately that both dishes were well-seasoned and quite delicious, meaning we would return for more good food in the future. Seriously, we hadn't expected much when walking in and looking around, but were pleasantly surprised at the kitchen's efforts. We finished lunch with an order of homemade bread pudding and tiramisu, the latter of which in 2012 won a chamber of commerce epicurean competition 1st place ribbon. I wasn't there to judge that competition and have had better, but sincerely appreciated the moistness of the bread pudding. While the majority of diners were older and a more mature crowd, there's a lot to be said for value, and we thought the menu price was better than reasonable and I think a lot of people will discover this as a value destination, something we all appreciate.
