I enjoy Freebirds burritos and it's fun going to a brand new one although this one isn't as decorated inside. Still, it's shiny and clean so no complaints here. The menu is the same as always and I love their fajita chicken and all the vegetables including corn. Don't forget the crispy tortilla strips for crunch! The employees are very nice at this location and gave generous portions. This seems like a great location across from the high school so I bet they'll have a lot of traffic from that, but it was quiet enough when I went today.

It's my birthday today. I consider that to be the second most important thing to happen today because Freebirds has opened a new location in Hutto, Texas. I haven't been to a Freebirds since I was in high school in Tyler, and I was excited to have a location in my home base of Hutto because their burritos are always pretty quality and filling. The Hutto location is smaller than other Freebirds I've been to or seen, but it still has plenty of space for seating. During this opening, they had a prize wheel that included Freebirds swag like a sick burrito blanket, free food, and the possibility of winning free burritos for a year. I won sunglasses but stole the free dessert card my co-worker won. The line was pretty long during their first lunch rush. We got there just after 12:30 pm and had our food by 1:00 pm, but the line was wrapped to the door. Like most burrito restaurants, the food is prepared assembly-line style. There's a separate assembly line for mobile and drive-thru orders, so our food definitely would have come faster if we ordered on the app. Once it was our turn to actually order, it was easy to move through the line. I ordered a Freebird burrito with chicken, Spanish rice, black beans, sautéed peppers and onions, cheese, corn salsa, and lettuce on a Spicy Cayenne tortilla. It was well-dispersed in every bite. Half of the rush was Hutto High School kids who get off-campus lunch, so I totally see this place bumping for lunch during the weekdays. It's a great addition to Hutto, and I'm excited for another great chain to be within the city limits. RIYL: Tin Foil

Alex, Jessica, and Karmen made my dinner special tonight. I enjoyed the experience of crafting my meal. Dinner was satisfying before I even took a bite.

Service was great. Steak was way too salty and too much chewy gristle. $30 for a small bowl and regular burrito. Better places next door.

I was hoping for the traditional brown gravy, but this dish came with a spicy red version instead. (Reason for 4 stars) The meat was tender, the tortillas were fresh, and the sauce was hot and flavorful, just not quite the brown gravy I grew up loving as a San Antonio girl. Our waitress was wonderful: friendly, attentive, and very accommodating. She switched easily between Spanish and English, which made our whole table feel comfortable since one person in our group is bilingual. The seasoned potatoes were spot on: crispy, tender, and well seasoned. The refried beans were classic and delicious. Portion sizes were generous for the price, and the restaurant itself was clean with plenty of space for our group of four. Overall, Julio's was a great stop after the race. It might just become our go-to spot for future Hippo Runs. If you're local or have visitors in town, definitely add Julio's to your list.

My buddy and coworker recommended we go to Pollos Asados El Norteño off South FM 1660 in Hutto. Good idea. Located in a strip mall connected to a Valero gas station, there were a few people inside. We placed our order, with me ordering their Caldo de Pollo. It included two chicken drumsticks, potatoes, cobbled corn, carrots, celery, and squash. It was served with a lime slice and diced cilantro, onions, and green peppers. In addition, you get a ton of corn tortillas on the side and a nice side of rice. For its price tag, it is a steal. It was fantastic and perfectly hit the spot when it was 30 degrees outside. There is plenty of seating, and they move pretty efficiently. I heard their main tacos as well as their breakfast were very good, so once I can eat normal food, I will definitely come back and give it another go. For now, that soup was exactly what I needed. Food isn't waiting around here....it was a small wait but everything was extraordinarily fresh. They have a cold case full of soft drinks and juices. There was a small container of orange/red sauce and what looks like a avocado Ish sauce. I labeled them both hot and hotter. (LOL-I guess I'm a gringo after all ) I dropped in, in between meal times, but there was definitely a steady amount of customers coming and going as they must do quite a brisk business of takeout also. I noted that you can order online so that's always a big positive for me. People were eating and it's not a huge place so I wasn't comfortable videoing the seating ....needless to say there's about 10 /four tops. I was quite comfortable. You step up to the counter to order. I requested no cilantro and I did not get any. It seems to be good communication between the front desk and the kitchen. I suspect either the sous chef or the cook delivered my plate piping hot to my table! I'm not sure how long this location has been open here, but I'm embarrassed to say that I have driven by many many times on the way to my sons home and not noticed it. I'm so glad I dropped in today and found it. I definitely recommend it and I will be back every time I head out to my sons

If you ever imagined eating food that looks directly out of a commercial, this place is it. The tacos were bursting at the seams. The Tostada required 2 hands. And it actually all tasted delicious. Like legit good. Our favorite was probably the soft taco flavor wise. It cost less than the super taco and had way more meat. A signature of this place seems to be topping with a ton of cheese, and none of us complained. Their hot sauce is really good too. We wrapped it up with their dessert item, and they were absolutely amazing. Freshly fried chips coated in cinnamon and sugar. Everything was fresh made and tasted like it. If youre looking for a Taco Bell equivalent but better in every way, this place is it. We were super surprised by how good it was.
