I got my wisdom teeth removed days before the big freeze of 2026, and once the roads began clearing up, I was desperate for something that was not the same liquid diets I had put myself on for days prior. My buddy and coworker recommended we go to Pollos Asados El Norteño off South FM 1660 in Hutto. Good idea. Located in a strip mall connected to a Valero gas station, there were a few people inside. We placed our order, with me ordering their Caldo de Pollo. It included two chicken drumsticks, potatoes, cobbled corn, carrots, celery, and squash. It was served with a lime slice and diced cilantro, onions, and green peppers. In addition, you get a ton of corn tortillas on the side and a nice side of rice. For its price tag, it is a steal. It was fantastic and perfectly hit the spot when it was 30 degrees outside. There is plenty of seating, and they move pretty efficiently. I heard their main tacos as well as their breakfast were very good, so once I can eat normal food, I will definitely come back and give it another go. For now, that soup was exactly what I needed. Some of the best chicken flauta's EVER! Crispy & hot when served. The Refried Beans were reddish but not overly spicy. The Spanish rice was as expected and good. Food isn't waiting around here....it was a small wait but everything was extraordinarily fresh. They have a cold case full of soft drinks and juices. There was a small container of orange/red sauce and what looks like a avocado Ish sauce. I labeled them both hot and hotter. (LOL-I guess I'm a gringo after all ) I dropped in, in between meal times, but there was definitely a steady amount of customers coming and going as they must do quite a brisk business of takeout also. I noted that you can order online so that's always a big positive for me. People were eating and it's not a huge place so I wasn't comfortable videoing the seating ....needless to say there's about 10 /four tops. I was quite comfortable. You step up to the counter to order. I requested no cilantro and I did not get any. It seems to be good communication between the front desk and the kitchen. I suspect either the sous chef or the cook delivered my plate piping hot to my table! I'm not sure how long this location has been open here, but I'm embarrassed to say that I have driven by many many times on the way to my sons home and not noticed it. The food and service at this new restaurant is pretty awesome! They accept digital payments like Apple or Google pay. Their half roasted chicken meal is a lot food one or maybe two people. But my skinny self ate everything! It was delicious, a little dry but it was still delicious in my opinion. The charro and Mexican rice was on point. I came here with my best friend and he had the Al Pastor burrito. He liked his burrito a lot and said he could tell everything was made fresh. There is no fountain machine for soda, but they do have some nice cold beverages to choose from right by where you order your food. The Ambience of this place pretty nice and quiet unless. All the seating and tables were made out of real wood and definitely look like some Mexican decor. It's pretty easy to spot at the end of the Valero gas station. Me and my husband went to eat at the hutto location on 2/28. It was our first time eating here and we were excited to try a New Mexican place so close to home. We got home and immediately enjoyed the burritos. Half way through my husbands burrito he spit his bite out and held his mouth. There was a 3 inch piece of metal that was in the Barbacoa. We immediately went back to the restaurant and requested to speak to a manager. The cashier said no so I explained the situation to her. She called someone on the phone and handed it to my husband to speak to. The woman on the phone wasn't helpful and the cashier told us to wait five minutes. We presumed the person on the phone was coming to the location. After waiting for about 10 minutes we went up and asked what was going on. The cashier then handed a different phone to my husband and a man on the phone said they could do the refund. It was utterly a mess and completely unprofessional. Rather than just giving a refund they forced us to stay in the restaurant and talk on the phone to people after already having our dinner ruined. They also DIDN'T THROW AWAY THE BARBACOA AND KEPT SERVING IT TO CUSTOMERS AFTER BEING TOLD IT WAS CONTAMINATED WITH METAL. This is just one of those places you wish you had in your own neighborhood. A place to go to where they have awesome comfort food just around the corner. Their El Norteño plate was a massive meat buffet all in and of itself. There was so much food that it took me three meals to eat everything! The cleanliness inside was great, so no complaints there. I can only speak for the breakfast, tacos and tacos in general as that's the only thing that we have gotten from here, but they are absolutely delicious. Really large and a good value. I think I believe that if you go drink certain times of the day you can get happy hour pricing. But they really have a nice setup. Even though it's in a gas station. The tables are very high quality. Happy National Taco Tuesday Day! We ordered the carne asada tacos and they're delicious! They come packed with meat, sprinkled with onions, cilantro, and a delicious jalapeño. They come with a side of rice and beans- the rice was pretty standard tasting, but I was not a fan of the charro beans. There wasn't much flavor any the beans had a strange consistency. This place is new to Hutto and tastes like authentic Mexican food. We've ordered their asada burritos (without lettuce and tomato) and asada tacos a few times. Very well seasoned and very tasty. I give it 4 stars because the last time I ordered the burritos the meat was a bit overcooked which made it feel fried - had some hard pieces. That won't deter me from coming back. I love going to small business in the area and a 3 star rating comes after a couple of visits here. They have a good size menu and the restaurant is nice and clean and the staff has been great. My wife and I had chicken burritos the first time we stopped in and they were great. The salsa was very tasty but they only give you one very small container of each. Any more will cost you extra. Read the reviews and thought I'd make the trek out to Hutto in hopes I found a suitable El Pollo Loco replacement. Placed the order for chicken and although the chicken was good, it was not the replacement I was looking for. I would say i felt it was a little better than Pollo Rico, but definitely closer to Pollo Rico than Pollo Loco. I'm assuming pollo loco brine's their chicken prior to grilling because their chicken is always a lot moister than these other chicken places I've tried around town. Never knew this place existed, but happy I went in. Suadero Quesadilla and Carnitas Burrito were both great. Suadero is tender and there was a good cheese:meat ratio. Carnitas was not dry and the fillings were balanced (I got no beans). Avocado and Habanero Salsas were included without asking, and both are tasty. Neither are overpowered. Quality matches value at this place. I almost did not go in because getting ahold of someone was difficult. I called and was put on hold for a little while and decided to end the call to phone back in. For some reason I was met with a "voicemail not setup yet" message for the next 15 times I called while I decided to just drive in. I eventually got through and was able to put my order in. I think they could benefit from some music to liven up the place for people dining in, but the inside is nice with solid tables and good lighting. I did see some people come in and stand silently at the register for a bit before being greeted but not a big deal. Left-most unit in the Valero plaza. We used to have a great taqueria in the neighborhood we moved out of. So, finding this place was a score! Not only was it in my neighborhood, but the food was great! We ordered an Asada taco, Asada burrito, Barbacoa taco, and an Al Pastor burrito. All the meats were moist, well seasoned, and full of flavor, but nothing was greasy, which I appreciate. I placed our order ahead, online, and went to pick it up. It was ready right on time, and the staff was very friendly. There's even a rewards point system for the regulars, which I now will be! This is now my neighborhood taqueria, and I look forward to trying more of their food.I highly recommend it! If I were to say anything negative, it's that we're used to having chips and salsa, where we used to go, added to every order. Here they weren't included, I'm thinking I would need to order them if we want them next time. That and the salsa they do include is a sample size, but it was exactly enough for my food.
