The people at Freed are very nice and are really trying to help my cat Lucy. She has reoccurring uti's. They were mindful of my budget, when suggesting tests that they could run to find the problem. They did find the problem and have scheduled laser treatments. They are very flexible with scheduling the appointments for me, my schedule is all over the place. I've been going there for years. I will not be bringing my cat back here. I took my 9 month old here for his first kitten check up and spent almost $300, come to find out from another place that he had his neuter done at, he had tapeworms. Freed Veterinary Hospital didn't even check for that. I feel this is highly unfair. I brought him in to have a full check up especially for the amount I paid not a half assed one. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I have been taking my dog here for almost five years now, if not more. My father and I took a vacation to Florida and boarded our dog here for 10 days, the night after we picked up our dog she had explosive diarrhea. We took her back and found out she had a few parasites, one of them being Giardia which takes an average of 7 days to show symptoms. She has had problems with her digestive tract/bowels ever since and we have shelled out hundreds of dollars here treating her. The doctors take NO accountability and have done nothing to help. Dogs contract Giardia from drinking feces contaminated water, this was NOTHING but NEGLECT and irresponsibility on their part and they have done nothing to make it right. read more

New to the area so my wonderful neighbor (Barbara Chisholm the artist who also did the mural on their walls) recommended this place to me. I have two older labs that I take in for shots/check ups and boarding and would NOT take them any place else. Boarding them is pricey because they're not small dogs but having them at a vet hospital while i travel definitely puts my mine at ease! Staff has ALWAYS been helpful, friendly and professional with me, my pets, and other clients. Waiting time isn't always good BUT i just remind myself they're spending time with other pet owners so I'm VERY patient when they are late in getting to me. read more

I've had good experiences with this office Kutzer is my vet she is great and caring. All my dogs go here and my parents took theirs until they passed. My grandparents bring their dog here as well. My Boston recently had to have a tooth removed that broke off the staff were great. The receptionist are always great I see a bad review of them but everyone can have an off day. Amanda up front is the best and Debbie the tech is such a pleasure as well. As far as price I've been to four vets and they are the most reasonable. I know one of the receptionist who highly recommends this vet and she isn't going to tell me they are great if they aren't just cause she works there. She sees what goes on behind the scenes and highly recommend this vet. They even called the next day to check on my Bella after her surgery I've had my dogs have procedures and two other vets and never got a phone call to check up. she got a certificate of bravery they allowed her to have a blanket from home and they even give your pet a comfort stuffed toy to have after surgery. They really care. It's clean and friendly and they dote on the pets that come in. I've never boarded my dog and saw reviews but a couple negative reviews aren't enough to keep me away as the only people who tend to give them are the ones unhappy. I'm sure there would be many many more great ones if people actually came on here and did them. Don't be discouraged from a few old reviews that are one sided. I care about my dogs like they were my kids and I would never take them anywhere I wasn't extremely happy with! read more

First off, I would like to say my family's dog was boarded several times at this facility (which were great experiences) before this most recently, scary visit. Our dog was taken care of by this facility while my family and I had to go to Alabama a few weeks back. When we returned, my husband picked him up and for the first 24 hours of being home, he had diarrhea which is typical for him (he gets nervous when we leave town). When it did not subsided, we started to become concerned and became extremely concerned when we noticed his stool also started to contain blood. I didn't unpack all of his belongings when he got home (too consumed with unpacking our baby girls belongings from the road trip) so nothing gave me an indication that this might be Freed's fault. To my surprise, as I unpacked our dogs belongings, I realized the FULL jar of peanut butter I left with the facility was GONE. In Freed's defense, myself and Amanda at the front desk were very thorough with writing down all of the info needed, but thinking back, I never gave them info on how much peanut butter to give him in his kong. ANYONE who knows and loves dogs should have the common sense that a 16oz jar of peanut butter should not be consumed in its entirety in a 4 day span. I was shocked when I realized Freed gave my boy 16oz of peanut butter in a 4 day span. And it was then clear to me that this issue was 100% caused by Freed's clinic. I called his vet and a vet tech friend of mine and both said put him on a rice and pumpkin diet, but if it doesn't clear up in 24 hours, take him straight to the vet. Well he wouldn't eat any of it. His poop went from diarrhea to blood in his diarrhea to straight BLOOD in a 3 day span. I took him to the vet and they stated this issue was 100% caused by Freed giving him an entire jar of peanut butter. Peanut butter in small amounts does not hurt dogs but when a full jar is consumed, the fat content can mess with their systems. Our vet was very surprised he didn't end up with pancreatitis. I proceeded to call Freed to explain to them what happened and asked for them to either refund us the money we paid for boarding him or refund us his vet bill since this was their fault. The manager, Susan, stated she would discuss this issue with the owner and she would call be back with what they decide to do. I received a voicemail today that stated they would credit 10% of my dogs visit to his account so we can use it the next time he stays there. I made it very clear with Susan in the initial phone call that he would not be returning to their facility since this happened. Also, 10% of the bill is equal to $11. 11. dollars. That's it. That's how much they do not care about my boy. I called the facility back and spoke with Susan and stated that was NOT good enough for what we went through. I said it's disgusting that $11 is all my pup is worth and their facility obviously does not care about animals that come to their facility. I would have felt better them saying they wouldn't reimbursement us at all than receive a slap in the face of 11 bucks. I was disgusted. I proceeded to tell Susan all we want is a reimbursement and an apology (which I had not even received yet). She did give us an apology and said sorry we don't agree with what happened. I became VERY annoyed when she proceeded to say the 2 staff members in the back said the jar was full when we dropped him off and it wasn't empty when we picked him up AND that Amanda stated she tried to get info from me THREE TIMES and I wouldn't give it to her. I became LIVID!! Flat out lies. The manager just lied to me. Really? They don't want to own up to their mistakes and just apologize and reimburse us? But now LYING?! Why wouldn't I want to give them all of the info needed? The "3 times" really set me off. And honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Susan came up with that on her own. Amanda was WONDERFUL when I dropped him off and although I do not know her at all, I can't see her lying about something like that. It's sad that Susan is the authority figure there. She is extremely disrespectful and rude. All that being said, our pup will never return to Freed. read more

I would love to give 5 stars because 99% of the staff is amazing. I had one bad experience with a male veterinarian who showed up an hour late because "his phone for his alarm had died" and gave lots of attitude because he was "in a bad mood". Every other person I've encountered here is absolutely 100% amazing...otherwise I wouldn't come back. Most of the staff truly care about animals and are always kind, boarding prices are affordable. read more

What an amazing experience, place and friendly staff. My dilemma was I had to bring my dog with me to a work trip. I called and called and called around and no one would take her cause she had not been before until I found freeds. They took her in for day boarding, accepted my vet info and I was done. Each day my dog seemed to enjoy herself more and more. The bathed her, cut her nails and took good care of here for less than $70 for three days. I wish we had a place like this in D.C. read more

The reception staff was wonderful. They called my fur baby by her name when we stepped in the door! Debbie is so so loving and caring and patient. She took time to carefully explain explain everything. Then, Dr Kutzer is awesome. She also explained everything and reassured me that my baby would be fine and told me steps to take to help me keep her comfy at home. She explained how to fix her food and give her med's when I got home - all while squatting and petting Josie. They gave me a "comfort pillow" to hold and get my scent on while waited for her Josie's time to go back for her teeth-cleaning so she would have something that smelled comforting when she woke up. How amazing is that! And the last thing everyone said was, "do you have any questions?" I love these folks!!! read more

First off- I was a "walk-in" customer, and was seen inside of 25 minutes- which I find acceptable. My cat, Tika, was well looked after and was returned to me in excellent spirits- which means that her interactions with the staff were positive. She even required a flea bath- something she hasn't had in years- so the fact that she was mellow and happy says a lot about her treatment. The doctor came out and spoke with me- she was polite and my cat was comfortable around her. Prices were very reasonable. This is my criteria for my good rating- cat was seen, cat wasn't freaked out, I felt comfortable. They lose a star because the reception staff acts like they have no customer service training. They either have no training, or they simply don't like their job. read more

This place is amazing with my animals. I've been coming to them since 2009 and would not go anywhere else. I'm now down to just one dog and they treat her so good. They are gentle and very thorough with her. They all make sure they love on her! They explain her care to me very well. I also board Pumpkin with them when I need too. I don't worry to much while I'm away I know they are treating her well! I highly recommend Freeds for all your animal vet and boarding needs. read more

I love Dr. Kutzer! The rest of the staff is a mix of sweet and not so sweet. The prices are reasonable and over the service is worth recommending. My only real complaint is the wait time to be seen. It's always been at least 15 minutes which is somewhat stressful for me and my pup in a crowded waiting area full of other pets and people. read more

I recently moved from Chesapeake to Hampton and I needed to find a new vet. When I called this one the lady in the phone was nice and told me that they do walkin new patients. I came in on a Saturday. First off, the place didn't look good at all. The outside play area looked small and the dogs did not look happy. It just seemed really earie and sad. When I went up to the front desk to sign in, the young lady was nice and gave me my paperwork to fill out. But when I was done, I gave it to another receptionist who was really rude and kept talking to me like I was stupid. I told her exactly what my dog needed and that I could get my old vet to fax over my dogs records. She kept giving me this look just waiting for me to tell her exactly what my dog needed. I told her about 3 times that when I called my old vet yesterday, they told me she was up to date on all her shots but just needed an annual, a stool sample, and a heart work check. She kept looking at me like I was simple minded. She gave me their fax number but I just walked out. If they are going to treat me like that, how will they treat my dog?
