I made it clear that, given my dog's age and condition, my goal was to keep her comfortable until the end. Despite communicating those wishes, I felt pressured into additional X-rays and medications that resulted in a bill of over $600. Just two days later, my sweet dog had to be euthanized. When I called the office to schedule euthanasia, no accommodations or compassion were offered. I was simply told I could bring her in on Monday, meaning my suffering dog would have had to endure the entire weekend. The receptionist showed very little sympathy during one of the most difficult moments a pet owner can face. During my final visit, I witnessed the receptionist warmly tell another pet owner to "call us tomorrow with an update." As I was leaving with my gravely ill dog, I was casually told, "Hope your baby feels better." Given my dog's condition, those words felt dismissive and lacking genuine compassion. What hurt the most was feeling that empathy and concern were not extended equally to every client. Compassion should be shown to all pet owners, especially during end-of-life situations. After years of bringing my pets to this practice, I can no longer recommend Armistead Animal Hospital. They have lost my business, and I would travel elsewhere for veterinary care rather than return.

The clinic was crowded, which isn't surprising given their popularity, but I was delighted to see that they were able to accommodate my furry friend in his time of need. After a wait of over two hours, I was given some suggestions and my mans didn't require any medication. I have never been disappointed with the care my cat received here, and when our family dog, Teddy, was alive, we honestly feel like his life was extended thanks to excellent vet care. I look forward to coming here every year for my feline's yearly exam. There was one incident when I had to take the feline to an emergency "same day" appointment back in March (2022), and they handled her so well, although it took a few days to get ahold of someone to discuss her results, it all got worked out. I would not take her (or any other future animal) anywhere else.

Puppy dog's ears are back to a healthy pink. She called me herself around 5:30 the evening after the exam. Scared me to death thinking something was wrong with him. Not in the least. I have been bringing my animals here for years ! Dr Wassal is my favorite vet there . He seems so…read moregenuine and caring . My elderly cat mr Mow - went in for what we thought was a tooth abscess , and while he was under and Dr Wassal was going to perform the dental procedure , he realized it wasn't an abscess but a huge jaw tumor . I was devastated when he came out to talk to me , and I broke down - He was so comforting and seemed Almost fatherly . He recommended I put him to sleep while he was under cause he was in ALOT of pain - but I just couldn't . I wasn't ready to let him go yet and he was so understanding . He gave me all the pain meds he needed and I got to take him home and we spent the next two days with him saying our goodbyes . We had a mobile vet come to the house and let him peacefully pass at his home comfortably . The entire staff is always helpful and nice . I just read a few reviews talking about the front desk staff , and in 16 years is coming here have NEVER had an experience like that ‍ I will always recommend this vet to anyone who asks.

I've been to Dr. Crist several times and each time she did a thorough review of my pets health and always Gave thoughtful care and good advice on how to best care for my pet, specifically his teeth. We finally made the decision to go ahead and get the dental work done and both me and my pet are very happy with the results. I have noticed a change in his ability to enjoy his toys play, with his pet friends, and eat his food much more comfortably. So with that there was obviously no response on my end because I never received a text so when I arrived, they told me my appointment was canceled. I asked why, and the lady was extremely disrespectful and rude responding with "like I said before your appointment is canceled because you didn't respond" when it was completely their fault. Definitely lost a customer here and I will NOT be spending any money on my pet here. If you were looking for someone who has good and respectful customer service don't go here.
